Konami ruined card collecting in 2016 with Breakers of Shadow when they took out Ghost Rares and ultimates from core sets. That destroyed the equity in this game. Most people have absolute junk cards that will depreciate over time.

Quite surprised by what you had to say. I’m a Cyber Dragon collector and I absolutely love getting every rarity that they put out. Gold rare, secret rare, UTR, ghost rare, & now quarter century rare! Would love a collectors rare next! I say to Konami, “keep em coming”. I don’t really think it’s hurting the value of the OG UTR. I still sell them like hot cakes.

I think it depends on the card. Stardust has so much popularity that the Ulti, ghost and starlight in 1st Ed are all $500+ (ghost being almost $2000 in NM). So I think stardust is a bad example. Also, I love that the card basically has every rarity ever, that makes that card unique.
You are right about other cards tho, but I do disagree when cards are in an archetype. I love collecting “sets” like that where all the cards have the same rarity. Partly why I love the speed duel versions of gate guardian because they are all secrets and look good together.
My issue is with quarter century for 2 reasons.
    1) they seem to be fine printing cards in quarter century that were previously starlights, like Zeus. That’s a huge no to me, because unlike ultimate and starlight, I think quarter and starlight look too close to do something like that.
    2) If quarter century takes over starlights, it sucks for me as someone that wanted all the signer dragons in starlight. They either have to pause making signers in quarter century, or worse, will print the last 3 in quarter and they won’t look perfect next to the starlights. Or worse, reprint the 3 signers we had already in quarter and destroy the value of the starlights

After this video they reprinted utopia as a qc secret rare and they're reprinting the astral utopia. Just so mind-numbingly stupid.

No matter what happens ppl will still buy what they put out as long as they are making money they won’t really do much to change the formula. As someone who likes old heads and new heads i don’t agree with this topic but I do miss the old days of UTR and ghost rares in sets lol

I think they select the most notable cards from the set. The kings/queens knight are literally the archetype of the set

Not necessarily the case. In Maze of Memories, Kazejin, Suijin and Sanga of the Thunder are the components of the world premiere archetype and they did not receive CRs (which was the correct choice imo)

@@Watomarmelondisagree. I hate when cards of the same archtype have different rarities. I would have liked if they made all of them CRs personally, especially since they don’t really have any high end printings besides super.
I approve of the joker set too for the same reason.
