We took this video to show you how to remove and replace the tensioner for the a/c (air conditioning) belt, the tensioner for the serpentine belt which drives the powersteering pump, alternator, and alternator. Also, it show you how to replace the pulleys. This video will work on bmw e46 323i 325i 328i 330i. Also, bmw e83 x3 2.5 3.0. Bmw e39 525i and 530i. Bmw x5 3.0.
Old pulleys tend to get noisy and making a squeaky sound. The tensioners can raddle and cause the belt to fet lose which could lead to overheating since the water pump is driven by the serpentine belt.

Is that middle bolt necessary when installing? Or can top and lower bolt hold it?
Great video, thank you. The broken power steering pump pulley isn't relevant to this video- but I couldn't help but cringe a little! That is a good reason to wipe down the pulleys when replacing belts, thanks!
the 8mm allen bolt pulley, can that be swapped interchanged with a pulley with a T47 bolt? or is it better to buy a new hydr pulley set. i was working on a e46 323i that had the T47 bolt in the pulley tensioner but it was stripped.

How can i remove it if my 8mm allen wrench bolt in the center is stripped?
Try using a torx bit thats what I did

i know is 4 years after but i reply for others! i have 2 e46's same engine,same year and the design of pulleys tensioners and belts are different. hope it helps someoane.
