Street markets are so much more human than supermarkets. People need places to mingle and meet. Thank you, Steve.
So true! Sadly on the decline
Thank you Steve for sharing your knowledge on how to propagate plants. You gave me some good ideas to try myself.
Glad to help but I am still learning,
Yes I remember Steve he gave you a plant he was showing some stuff about Christmas
Not sure what you mean
Steve I like your video from down Under Australia
Thank you so much for the support

Hi Man in Malta I have just been Reminded of My Holiday in Malta, we Visited the Medina Factory Where They Do The Glass Blowing, And We Purchased 2 Item's. They have always been Precious To Me and I Love Them Dearly 💘. Take Care. Angela.
Sounds great! Yes I have some items from way back in the 70s Great memories
I loved the Monte's! Everytime I came to Malta I used to love going there. the big one in Valetta, and also my friend took me to a big one in Birgu.I bought many things from there! Thanks for this Steve!
Yes Birgu is nice but not so big now
We really did enjoy this video, and the bonus especially, we would love to see how those plants come on. I am thinking of getting some balcony herbs as well after watching that, even if I don't eat the mint, it might be nice to smell. Loved seeing the cat as well, I did not realise she was blind, well she certainly seemed happy enough. When you bought out the bag of cat litter though, we looked at each other and thought Steve you really have lost the plot now :) Only 3 months until we are there again. Looking forward to the next video.
Oh!! I use the cat litter bags cuz they are stong enough to hold the soil from last
Well that was like a 3 for 2 ! Market , church and your green fingers … love the church , I’m a bit of a geek with the artwork on ceiling, it amazes me the work they did … just like your gardening 😜( I have a rockery 🙄😂)
Not very busy day !
Steve best monti is in birgu. Very big. And try the pastizzi and good tea from serkin rabat xxxx
I do intend to do a few markets like Birgu.Mosta,Żejtun etc was just checking if interest but Birgu was not as big as it used to be ! There is a video at serkin bar, Very disappointed...I found many better
Hi English man,, amazing traveling video,,, so many things in market,, colourful and attractive products in cheaper price too,,, beautiful church highlight of the video 👍👍👌
Thanks for the support, I must come over and say hello
Just watched this video. Loved everything about it especially your cat, she is gorgeous my love for animals ❤
You are so kind, trouble is now, since shes been on video she thinks she's a super star!!
Thanks for another interesting video Steve. I've been trying to work my way through your videos and I've now got a wee notebook jotting down all these places I never knew existed in Malta until I started watching. Loved your Percy Thrower impersonation lol, good tips on the planting, please do some more on the subject for the less green fingered viewers.
Fantastic! Gill, Yes was a bit of fun see how it went down, sadly not everyone watches until the end ..lol 😂 there loss
Hello Steve, wow what a great video thanks for showing us the market I love octopus my mom use to make stew with it she was a good cook and the octopus stew tasted so delicious. Everything is fresh the fish nice.
Sounds great
We always enjoyed going to that market and the one in Mosta which isn't far from where we usually stay
That's awesome but sadly i noticed the vibe is being lost from the markets
Hi Steve I think to be fair the markets are dieing out which is a shame I blame the big supermarkets. I love your little garden show it was very interesting I would like to see how the mint leaves turn out xx
Very true, I will show them later maybe a little clip on the end of something Markets never recovered after covid
@@EnglishmaninMalta covid has plenty to answer for !!! But I will look forward to your little snipits 😆 when they grow x
Hi Steve, I think it’s the same for markets everywhere sadly. I always love to visit a market when we’re away. It was lovely to finally see your cat too 🥰🐈 I think that was the first time I’ve seen her
So true! Sadly the valletta ditch sunday market as gone and seems many going the same way ! Oh that cat we have a love hate relationship, big friends when it food time 👍🤣🤣
Wow loved this video especially the bonus footage, we found it lovely as you were very casual and relaxed talking to us we really felt part of it showing us your plants etc it was great.
Also loved the main video to, we have lots of memories of all you showed us, we have done the Monty many times usually on a wed. ( Mosta on Mondays)
The church is fantastic, went to a wedding there about 9years back, some Maltese friends.
Just behind where you bought the plants is a cafe and used to sell nice pastises. Good job Steve thanks.👍🇲🇹🙂
Hey John Thank you, love sharing with you
Hi Steve, off course the best market is Marsaxlokk 😁😁but our go to market back in the day was the one held between Zabbar and Cospicua 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Not sure that market still going, might go to a few more before loss forever, Mosta, Birgu, Zejtun,
Some of the Maltese people are very rude or unless they are deaf or they agro you. Beautiful church Steve thanks for sharing your video
You find alsorts in the world
Hi Steve the market used to be a lot bigger
So true les, but that lady in the cafe told me Wednesday was a lot better maybe I go and do some other see what they are like ?
Mary 🇦🇺🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ Steve I was born there , but was a baby when my family came to 🇦🇺 was 18 months old , will watch video tomorrow, it’s 1am here, looking forward to it, thanks again,💕💕🇲🇹💕💕🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Oh wow! sweet dreams x
Man, it's so much cheaper there than Faversham and speaking of Favy. It's 1 degree and snowing 🌨 a wee bit. 🥶
Prices going up everyday
I remember the Monti in Merchant Street in Valletta but not in other towns. When did that start? Thanks for the planting tips. I enjoy gardening too. Still too cold to do much here in Ontario but I am starting some seeds indoors.
Sounds great also hard to get plants going unless you have a green house, trouble is very soon then it gets too hot 🙈🤣🤣
Always go buy from the market in bkara on wednesday and friday but its not the same like it use to be
It was pretty quiet that day !
I should visit the Birkirkara local Market one day, I have heard of that round bread with Almonds on top before, yet I have not tried it yet.
Those Pastizzi look awesome.
Klin = Rosemary in Maltese
The best iced tea I ever had was at a Neapolitan pizzeria in NYC, they make it homemade, they put sprigs of mint right in the tea, if you put the right mint in and not too much of it, it makes the tea all the more better. Yummm.
A lot of plants can be rooted like that without rooting hormone, actually rooting hormone can make some types of branches rot.
Hey Alan thanks for the info
All the markets are coming at the end even in Australia 🇦🇺.
Yes its sad to see
Really interesting to see the markets Steve, do you know what the prices are like for vegetables compared to supermarkets? Generally better pricing or not?
I found almost same prices all over, sometimes you get a few bargains if they wanna clear, there is a farmers market in Ta'Qali selling 9nly maltese products that grow in Malta direct from the farmers, not much different in prices
@Englishman in Malta Must be lovely to get supermarket prices at the market but better quality as they are fresher and locally produced.
We like your wee cat 🐈 ours is very nervous too. She likes me more than the wife, but then, I am devilishly handsome 😉
I got the same problem!! Is there a cure for it ??
@@EnglishmaninMalta No, I'm sorry, no known cure my friend 😁
No steve , those pastizzi , are both 'tax xema' . they come in both pizelli and rikotta , like the originals which are not 'tax-xema' and they too come in pizelli and rikotta.
Thanks for the info
ahhhh the bargain hunter at work
Not as good as it used to be, sad to see, but hear Wednesday better !
ENGLISHMAN 🏴 LOOKS AROUND FOR A BARGAIN 🛍 ☺. Steve, I think you did bag a bargain with those pot plants 🌿. Mind you, I would have given you a few free Rosemary cuttings from my 4 metre Rosemary hedge. Mint and Parsley always die on me after a while or get attacked by horrible ants 🐜 😡.
THANKS STEVE for the walk around the market and the beautiful B'Kara church viewing 🚶⛪ 😲 🎥 👏.
Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™
Very welcome, Always enjoy a market walkabout, sadly they are not so popular lately
@@EnglishmaninMalta The whole world have changed since Covid. Sadly, this includes "people's shopping habits" .
Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™
Until what day and what time they open?
Wed and Friday's, They start very early maybe before 7am until 12noon
She is beautiful 😍 your cat. What’s her name?
I call her " B " 🤣🤣
@@EnglishmaninMalta That’s easy cute 🥰
I remember the old days when you couldn't move for cassettes and videos. Ha ha.
Yes !! Good old days 1 Maltese lira for the latest block buster video
On which days is this open?
Wednesday and Friday
Hi Steve
Just to reinforce what several of the commentators have remarked about the current health of street markets generally...they do seem to be on a very downward cycle here as well
Lovely church.
,but
I think you and I would agree...what's the point..but suppose it comforts the simple minded !
Good gardening tips and nice if nervous cat!!
Regards
Peter
