      You can absolutely overcome demographics and many countries already have. Plenty of European countries have been old for decades already, and they've still been growing. Bulgaria is just one example. Japan may not have grown fast, but they've survived just fine and even improved the structure of their economy just fine over the last 30 years. And that is before we factor in AI improving labor productivity, and outsourcing places that do have good demographics, and immigration, etc etc. Ukraine is still probably screwed, but demographics in general are simply not destiny.

    • @gregdavram
      @gregdavram Месяц назад +4

      @@person1858 No, you are wrong. Japans population peaked in 2010 and only now are we seeing things fail even though they work hard. The Yen is inflating despite them increasing interest rates and working long hours. A country with low birth rates or high deaths through war is doomed to fall behind countries that don't have these issues. It can take 10 years to really see these effects manifest though. USA did the best after WW2 because they joined the war late and had a large boom in population after the war is proof of this.

Despite all the devastating impact the war has on the country, the level of corruption in Ukraine has been decreasing, oligarchy is being dismantled, new industries (such as manufacturing of drones, rehabilitation medicine, cybersecurity) are booming, the society is united over an idea of building the country back better. Being a country rich in natural resources and with a highly educated population Ukraine has a realistic chance of becoming a New Economic Tiger (the demographics, as others note, is a big concern, though).

    Just remember that one of the reasons that Germany and Japan prospered, was also because of the many inventions and companies that were created during the war, like Toyota and Mercedes. That is unlikely to happen with Ukraine as much of the weaponry and resources required are just simply provided by the EU.
    Also, saying it’s not a concern or an interest for the US is as wrong as it gets. The US is always supporting who ever stands against Russia. Be that Vietnam, Afghanistan, Israel or Taiwan(I know technically China, but China and Russia support each other). So ofcause they are going to support the one country actually in direct war with Russia.

      @@rohj4825 what do you mean by “Ukrainian family structure and age structure are better than European”? If I get u right I can challenge your opinion. Due to a high level of emigration in Ukraine our population is constantly decreasing it was so even before the war but now these numbers of emigrants are extremely increasing due to the war. As for “age structure” in 2018 in Ukraine the average age was about 40 which is still better than the average age in Europe, but those numbers were in 2018 and now we don’t know accurate numbers but we can firmly assume that these numbers were increased a lot because of war and I would say that it is about 45-48 since the beginning of the invasion due to a sharp leap of emigration of young people. As for family structure it is even worse than it could have imo because many families were stripped of their fathers and nowadays in Ukraine no one smart seems to be ready to start a new family

    One key difference between Ukraine and Germany, Japan or South Korea after their respective wars is the demographic situation.
    All of these countries had high or stable birth rates before and after the wars while Ukraine has one of the lowest in all of Europe and also 6 to 7 million people have fled the country up until now which are mostly mothers with their children which means Ukraines demographics are now even worse than before the war and I doubt that most of these people will return after the war since for example after the Yugoslav war only one third returned. Also South Korea only experienced its economic miracle since the 80s which was 30 years after the war. Before that it was very poor and corrupt and Germany and Japan were already developed industrialized countries before WW2.
    That means even in the most optimistic case Ukraine will have problems in the long term since demographics are crucial for the economic well-being of a country.

    The thing people don't understand is , what US is giving as aid to Ukraine now , needed to be paid back later . if not Ukraine have to give land and resources to pay back that debt. It's already a dead state . Even government workers are paid by US aid. it doesn't have economy left to even survive on their own after the war. it's funny how people talk about economic thrive of Ukraine

    Sadly, Ukraine probably won't succeed. Ukraine is too corrupt, with too much influence from oligarchs and russia. Poland and Romania, although also had hard past, were able to succeed by eliminating most of corruption and russian influence. It didn't happen in countries like Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and they're very unlikely to change for any better 😞

    Ukraine isn't just important for Europe, it is just as important for Russia and the rest of the world.... If Europe ever finds peace Ukraine is going to be a very wealthy nation. It will start by connecting rail and canal corridors to both the east and the west. Once connected these corridors will profoundly change the land mass, because these separated networks go as far one way as they do the other. Peace would bring 1,000 years of European infrastructure projects/progression separated since antiquity together for the first time. And that will allow for better results for all.

    Seeing how the European Union reluctantly responded with support when Ukraine was initially invaded, I doubt they will provide much after the war is over.

    11:00 I hate these stupid stereotypical stock video inserts. Here this "IT guy" just randomly typeing the nothing that has nothing to do what is happening on the screen.
    I really root for Ukraine but this video is full of bullshits.
