- IEC Commissioner Dr Nomsa Masuku has been arrested by the Hawks and appeared at the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on charges of fraud relating to R1,2 million. Investigations found that Masuku manipulated documents to award scholarships to friends and families instead of deserving applicants. Hawks Spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale has more.

Takes ten yrs to prosecute R1,2 million. Is it save to assume it will take 100yrs to prosecute a R12 million case, 1000yrs for a R120 mil case etc. All fraudsters sitting in govt. Should therefore be save unless they related to the Highlander.

Maybe the Hawks tried to cover up the case soo now they're under pressure from somewhere..because clearly it doesn't make sense why wait for 10 year's to arrest her...investigating someone for 10 year's...what prompted the arrest now...she even worked for IEC with such a questionable character an independent entity???

It's beyond ridiculous, it's pure insanity. The level of incompetence is mind boggling. Our justice system needs a complete overhaul. A pastor in the western cape was arrested and charged with rape of a minor 13 years ago, he was given bail and hasn't been even asked to plead yet. Postponement after postponement. He's been free walking around. Imagine what the victim is going through. This is what happens when the people never hold their government to account. Things are falling apart and people are just snoring

Obvious biases are: 1) Time. This action is a dead duck. It took over 10 years to get here?!
2) Yet it is postponed for a further year to do more research and investigation?!
3) If the alleged perpetrator is in Civil Service she must be suspended from IEC pending trial even if the trial takes another 11 years akin to Senzo’s trial.
4) she must be granted full pay during the coming 11 years of incompetence by the systems of justice delivery.
5) we must ask and question our moral and ethical duties in all these circumstances and situations: how did we get it so wrong in the first 30 years of self governance.
