Wintersun is so good! The best melodic death metal band in my opinion.
I really love Amon Amrath, Rotting Christ, Primordial (I’m not sure that’s melodic death metal though lol), kalmah.
Land of snow and sorrow is a peek to the Finnish soul. Happiest and gloomiest country at the same time.
I really appreciate your observation about the discography stuff.Not so many people are paying attention on that,but for me it's the one of things that make this band unique.As you said,you have many popular bands that just dont have any new ideas and are releasing new albums evey year or two just to fullfil the listeners and production houses conditions and desires,and that probably keep them away from oblivion on the scene.But Wintersun are different.You can notice that their time between releasing the two of albums sometimes takes up to couple of years and,in my opinion that's not a flaw like other people say.I consider it very special,coz the guys are really putting their best in the music,and you can recognize the talent in every single note.Very unique band and one of the most talented guys I've ever seen.Thank you for reaction.

You should check out Karl Sanders song Of The Sleep Of Ishtar. You might know his other band Nile which is an extreme death speed metal band but his solo project is really soothing

Great piece of music - majestic. Not only the voice of the vocalist but also his way to perform: concentrating, focusing on singing instead of focusing himself as a lead singer...
There are too many performers who are annoyingly self-aware, smug...
(I like the reference to the Vikings. I thought not to mention this so that I won't destroy a beautiful image: when young I was a bit sad that Finns were not Vikings. I felt much better when I learnt that Vikings were afraid of Finns because they considered Finns as sorceres controlling the weather.)

As others already mentioned, The Forest Seasons album is worth reacting to in its entirety (There is official video uploaded). 4 different songs for each season, the last two being absolute masterpieces (Autumn and Winter). Would love to see that! After that, you get to enjoy the first album which is my favorite - packed full of relatively shorter, amazing songs.
Something even more different is Eternal Darkness/Autumn from the Forest Seasons album. That album is really worth listening to and would also be great if you did a whole reaction to it.

Wanna hear the best song they've ever written? Check out *"The Way Of The Fire"* live in Hollywood. It's a still unreleased song that will eventually be on the Time II album. But it's so mind blowing.

Deffo do Loneliness as a reaction dude, and Forest Seasons you’re right, it needs to be listened to in its entirety, prob to long for a reaction, but it is a frisked awesom piece of music 🤘🇬🇧
Absolutely review the albums. That would be a treat. I myself am torn between Time I and the first album, because I love that early Ensiferum stuff (more like the first album) but also have matured like you and like more elaborate, progressive stuff (more like Time I). The Forest Seasons is a good album but it doesn't come close to the other two for me.
I'm doing the four season this week just will post it for the weekend as it will take time to edit and all.

Just a couple of recommendations if you want more melodic death metal from Finland. Wolfheart (the song "Zero Gravity", "The Hunt" or "Boneyard") Mors Subita (the song "As Humanity Weeps") and Bloodred Hourglass (The song "Above All", "Valkyrie" or "Drag Me The Rain". I think you'll enjoy them.
