      @@silver2zilver this is a thought i had today and honestly idk if it's dead or hiding. Ig you can't say it's dead because then there's no hope. Probably weakened or hiding, who knows man this shit's kinda very complicated

    • @ryanfrank1309
      @ryanfrank1309 Год назад

      @@amerstain In psychoanalytics it's referred to as the "Shadow". It's the dark side of us that doesn't follow the rules. Suppressing that side of you will only result in it growing and festering until you self sabotage and it all comes out. You have to integrate it into your being and accept it for what it is without judgement. Think of the inner child as one of Dr. K's darker guests (abuser, incel, narcissist). They're controlled by their Shadow because they don't understand it. When you can see your inner child as a valuable important person within you, that has needs too, you can find it easy to treat it with compassion and set healthy boundaries with it. An example would be the hero in a story who has a deep anger and hate for the villain who killed his father and intends to hurt others. The hero has a part of him that enjoys violence. Instead of crushing that side of him he allows the monster to feed when it is appropriate. The boundary he sets is "only when someone is actively trying to cause harm, the beast may come out and feed." In some stories the hero will be too brutal, recognize it and set another boundary. Kind of like portion size management of what the beast may eat. That is all healthy. Beating down your child even when it's actions would be appropriate is not healthy. Not standing up for yourself when someone crosses a healthy boundary is not healthy. So we see people who suppress the child become weak and scared (how your inner child feels when you tyrannize them), people who are possessed by the child (no healthy boundaries set gives the child free reign), and people who integrate the child (recognize what the child wants, say no when it's not appropriate, gives the child outlets and situations where they can let loose, and reigns them in before they go to far.)

When I heard her say "people don't want to hear people like me complain" my heart broke for her...Streamers get put on this pedestal because they are playing videogames and socializing for a living, and it has to be hard to feel this sense of obligation towards feeling great and being happy 24/7. My girlfriend is a nurse and one of the things she struggles with is not ALWAYS feeling like being the "care taker" that she needs to be. Certain jobs come with certain moral and emotional obligations. I always try and remind her that her feels aren't crazy or bad feelings. They are always valid and justified.

I remembered being in school waiting for Etika's next smash bros reaction, knowing he was gone, shit I can’t describe the feeling. I somewhat saw myself in that Etika video, it felt like a mirror, but it also felt like a magnifying glass. I realized how fragile and important life is, but also how much suffering it entails, this was the same with everyone. I realized everyone has problems. Although I was trying to better myself after this, I never felt the same after my realizations from that video. This current pandemic has basically fucked up my life in some aspects, I know this goes the same for nearly everyone right now, but it’s given me some time to introspect also, a true dilemma. I still can’t fully process that Etika's gone sometimes, it sucks.

If there was a choice between me and a wheelchair user then 100% I can walk from the spot that’s slightly further away. Noone should diminish others pain because we don’t know what others are truly going through and feeling. I haven’t even watched 5 minutes of this and I think this girl has really needed this for a long time. I sincerely hope this helps her a lot. I’ll be honest, There’s been a lot of things that have bugged me about Pokimane over the years knowing about her but, I have to remind myself this is somebody who’s been put in front of a world wide audience since a young age, she’s going to have issues I don’t fully understand and I just hope this helps a lot. We all have problems, I have plenty myself.
    There was a time about 6 years ago I got upset at every streamer/RUclipsr that felt fell in the “fake” category and didn’t treat humans like humans with souls all the time (not saying poki is not human etc. please, try to read between the lines here) I would say things that were too judgmental which is not helping at all and making the problem humanity is facing worst. That problem being too connected too easily without REAL connection to one another.
    I have learnt and grown from this since then. Don’t spread hate, fellow people. Spread love

      I don't think she gave away pieces of herself. She neglected herself, tried to use adulation to compensate for the lack of self-love, and stretched herself too thin.

    Only issue I had with this interview are the assumptions he makes about her parents and how they'd receive what she has to say. Most emotionally neglectful parents don't just sit with or let in meaningful dialogue, they push it away. Imone could go to her parents with an open heart and be met with spears. I hate it when therapists do this, just because they're parents they think all parents are healthy enough like they are. Some parents are abusive or just darn right neglectful. I came to my mother like this, being real and that's exactly what happened to me. I not only got coldness but I got attacked for telling her how I felt even though I did it calmly, positively and contrustively. Sometimes you can't go to your parents and that loss is another thing you have to mourn

    • @joke0291
      @joke0291 3 года назад +13

      I completely agree with you. I think that's something someone should pick up, when a person speaks on feeling truly alone in the world. Instinctively, you would lean on and speak with someone close to you. They would always be there for you right? Especially because she felt indebted to them, so it did come off as a solid relationship because she didn't go too deep into it.
      However, it's hard to say otherwise since Pokimane herself didn't go deep into her relationship with her parents. Since she hadn't had said anything, and because again, its in the public eye, she may have not felt comfortable going deeper and deeper about this relationship. Because she didn't say anything, i felt the way he approached her relationship with her parents with respect and delicacy is wise. If he had assumed otherwise, as if her parents are emotionally neglectful, it would've came off as a negative assumption as well. I think the way he approached it is wise because it respects boundaries, and diving deeper into her personal relationships with her parents, and speaking on potential issues infront of the world obviously isn't ideal, nor is it comfortable for anyone.

    I had some weird blame/anger towards Pokimane even though I don't watch her and I conciously understood that it's not her fault - because of a lot of the toxic/simp people who were always the ones to bring her name up everywhere, just acting beyond annoying. It got tiring to go around twitch and constantly hear people who either hate her for dumb reasons, oversexualise her, or hype up some dumb clips.
    I'm really grateful for this 3h talk because it actually let me learn who she is a person, out of the context of the bad part of her community, and now I can appreciate her, genuinely hope she gets to achieve peace and find true friendships in the business, as well just not get frustrated next time I see someone in chat being nasty about her name.

    I just discovered Dr. K a few days ago, and I've been slowly watching through a few of his videos. And I want to say 2 things (both of which have surely been said a lot in the comments)
    1: This is such a great thing that you are doing Dr. K. Spreading this positivity and mental health awareness is so important. I'm sure these videos will be a huge help for so many people.
    2: These streamers are incredibly brave for putting themselves out there like this. Streaming is already such an intrusive media, but to allow yourself to show your emotions, and have these deeply personal conversations in such a public way is, at least in my opinion, just as important as what Dr. K is doing.
    So thank you both (as well as all of the other streamers that have participated) for putting yourselves out there for such a noble cause.

    The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. All people ever see is Pokimane the ruthless business woman, Pokimane the queen, Pokimane the most successful female streamer. Her fans and haters alike only see what's in front of them. As a person, Imane doesn't feel like she has a right to complain or feel down because she has all these things.
