Wow it’s actually really gratifying to see someone else struggle with the ND formulas, thank you for always being both enthusiastic and honest, I so appreciate it.
I know it's talked about all the time, but it never ceases to amaze me how subjective makeup formulas are. I tried Pat McGrath eyeshadows first, and I was a bit disappointed with her formula. I find her dark mattes to be very stiff and difficult to blend, and her shimmer colors disappear off me so quickly. When I tried Natasha Denona, I was a bit worried the same would happen since her formula is often put in the same tier as Pat McGrath's. I have never loved a formula more! I find her formulas to blend themselves, and they last quite a bit on me. The only downside I have found is that if I don't use a primer and if I don't set the primer, they are rather patchy, but I rarely don't use primer, so it's not a deal breaker for me. I want to like Pat McGrath shadows so much, but I know they will only bring me disappointment. =( Love how detailed your reviews and opinions are, even if they are different than mine. =)
I find the Natasha Denona formula so much easier to work with also. I bought a pat McGrath palette and the mattes are harder to work with and I almost cried because I spent so much money on it and although I got pretty looks, it takes more time than other palettes. But I had time and kept reaching for it and fell in love with all the glitter and all the different variations and now I have 4 Pat McGrath palettes and I reach for them a lot more, but not when I’m in a hurry. I’d still grab a Natasha Denona palette when I’m in a hurry and it always looks so gorgeous. So they each have a place in my collection and my bank account is not happy of my love for both formulas 😂
That’s so interesting! I follow a bunch of people on here with a similar experience to you, loving the ND formulas but struggling with the PML ones, but I’m the exact opposite! I find the ND formulas much harder to work with and overall less impactful but the PML ones have always worked out for me even for more neutral/everyday looks. Makeup is wild.

I've been hoping to get my first pat mcgrath and/or natasha denona palette(s) this year and so this was particularly useful for me. I have to say I actually love that purpley-fuschia shade on you! (particularly with how it worked with the colors in your top). I think something about how it played with your eye color was special. I’ve had so much trouble with her shadows too. I have spent so much money on them, bc of all the hype. I am glad you seemed to have similar problems. Also, her Biba, especially, but other pallettes too, have oxidized on me all turning to look muddy and tired. Her makeup can look too dramatic, too. I too find it hard to work with. One of her holiday pallettes was an all in one, and the highlighters were awful, the cream blush disappeared, and the fallout from the eyeshadow humiliated me. I mean, it went all over my face, and I am a mature woman. I wound up going to a lunch and meetings, with glitter all over my face. From my lid shadow.

God, me too. At this point I'd even prefer a more true light nude palette than the pinks and purples and peaches. Pat was making such interesting palettes before Rose came out, and then she stuck to it. It sucks.
I appreciate reviews like this so much!! the biggest difference I find when considering a Pat McGrath or a Natasha denona palette is just the fact that with the Pat McGrath palettes I pretty much only need to consider the color story. I know that everything else about it will be fine but with the Natasha denona palettes I feel like I have to do weeks of research before determining whether or not it’s worth it. I came to the same conclusion and returned the ND palette. ND was likely not at all thinking about PMG stuff but I ended up creating looks like ones I'd get from divine rose I and II, but with muted shimmers.

The PML palettes are just too expensive to buy other palettes that I’d get similar looks from so I’ll keep using what I have. Thanks for the review!
My biggest pet peeve is when pinky palettes don’t come with a mauve or muted pink crease shade. Those are a staple for me in general, but especially in a pink palette.
You're putting my thoughts into words! ❤ I tried and and hated the formula, but could describe why. You did just that and I will point people to this video. 😜 Pat's formula was tricky for me first, but after watching Alexandra Aneles videos, it's my go to. I have 4 motherships, 2 quads and the celestial divinity palette, the later one is my daily reach. Not that much a fan of the glittery special shades, but that I have sextraterrestial 2 times, got the mini plastic palette for travel as extra, and use it regularly, says a lot. 😅
I think those of us who learned how to do makeup from Jaclyn Hill struggle with Natasha Denona’s formula trying to apply it in that same way. In my mind I think of formulas on a spectrum from Viseart (applies great with blending/circular motions and building up) to ND (applies best with fingers or small dense brush with judicious blending at the edges). My favorite ND looks were done entirely with my fingers!
Yes, also if you watch ND’s videos you’ll see most of the time she starts from the lash line outward instead of doing the transition shade in the crease and building inward, like many people do on RUclips… I have more trouble with Pat McGrath formulas than I do ND 😅
Interesting… I studied makeup artistry, and they taught us to do it with blending / circular motions, and that’s absolutely how I do eye makeup… I don’t like Natasha Denona or Pat McGrath, & LOVE viseart… I’m now going to try using my fingers with my ND eye shadows and see if I like it better!!
My biggest complaint with the Natasha Denona formula is that the shadows tend to fade and crease on me much more than a typical powder eyeshadow. Other than that, I do tend to like the formulas and colors. In some ways, I find them easier to use than Pat McGrath, but I still love Pat McGrath more
I have her pastel palette and have found the same unless I apply on high end shadow bases I can't get away with a full 6+ hour work shift like I can with Pat McGrath or even Colourpop lmao She's in the photoshoot or errands pile with Patrick Ta now
That’s so interesting! Makeup is so personal! I have really oily eyelids that eyeshadow loves to crease and disappear on and I find that ND is one of the only formulas that I can wear easily with or (gasp) without a primer, even the shimmers
I bought two minis, and both broke within the first week… which is super rare for me. And the formula didn’t knock my socks off. I prefer Viseart, Elf mini, beauty pie… or any of my others
Ironically I have that lipgloss - it’s called Sunset Rose by Pat McGrath… the palette looks like a combo of divine rose I and II - the duochrome and peach matte are very DR II. In reading a lot of the Pat vs Natasha comments on many a video, it does seem that if you love using one then you’re kinda meh about the other. My issue is that the one ND that I have is Metropolis and it looks beautiful and I love the greens and blues, but all the others look nuanced in the pan but all look the same on my (olive) skin - that is to say orange. The only killer formula in it is the cream to powder, and I found the shimmers so disappointing and faded so fast (like look away and look back and be confused fast) so I’m loathe to risk the $ again when I have a sizeable collection for a normal person.
Can I just say you have the best speed through music ALWAYS 😘👍 A girl who makes her own Vibes😎 BTW I totally agree with the lack of spreadability of ND shadows it was the first eyeshadow palette I tried and I struggled, def better palettes for beginners.
The Love palette by ND is my favorite, mainly because they have pale beige in it and I can blend my edges and use as a base. I find her palettes have colors that are all super strong and read much darker on the eye. I want to look effortless, and her shadows make me look like I’m trying. This one is a pass for me. My eye would go to the dark colors and ignore the wearable ones and I wouldn’t use it!
I thought it wasn't going to be a good eye look, but you did such a awesome look. I know you've struggle with the mattes, but doesn't look in the eye 😍
I love what you did with this palette. I love ND color stories, and own some but they don’t perform the way I need to. How can I make them last, how can I make her shimmers stay put and not flake all over my face over time. What is your suggestion? I apply the same primer that works with all my other palettes but they don’t help with hers. I really don’t get the hype.
I like Natasha palette but I feel like all my looks turn out the same. However I love the looks that come from pats palette and the look different each time. I just wish pat made her palettes able to move the shades around like Natasha. That feature is one of my favorite features.
Thank you for this video. I NEEDED the comparisons between this and Divine Rose and you have talked me off a cliff in terms of potentially buying the My Dream Palette. It’s stunning but WAY too saturated for my fair skin and neutral-loving sensibilities. Now my problem is whether I ever work up the nerve to purchase Divine Rose😅
I haven’t watched makeup videos in forever, well, since I got Covid work from home and subsequently Covid/petrochem laid off, which turned into a “well, what the Hell do I do now? I guess I’ll just call it a day and retire🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️” kind of thing. I’m in serious danger of losing my Rouge status because I just don’t wear makeup anymore, and frankly can’t afford the stuff I used to buy. Somehow, your video popped up and I’m watching and wondering how you don’t have more subscribers since you’re very personable and enjoyable to watch😊
I was planning on buying this new palette - I’m not a huge palette person but the colors are so stunning, especially the more cool toned purple colors ...but mentioning that they don’t buff out as beginner friendly do you have any good recs for a purple/plum palette (cooler toned then pat McGrath’s) with mattes and shimmers that is more beginner friendly? Thank you!
I mean, your title is exactly what I said when I saw this palette. I prefer the Pat formula by a mile so this is a pass. I do like ND but don’t love it. I prefer Pat, Viseart and Nars, probably in that order.
I adore Pat McGrath shadows. I love the mattes almost as much as the special shades. I find them so versatile in a way ND isn’t. I’m fair complected can go in lightly with PMcG mattes and they apply lightly, and I can go darker with the same shadow in my outer corner and it looks like two different shadows. I’m not even that good at eye shadow but whenever I wear a PMcG my eye look is great. It looks better than my actual skill level. Plus, come on…the special shades 😍. For me her palettes are worth every penny. I just feel excited every time I pull out a PMcG palette. ND is just good to me. I love several of my mini ND palettes especially for traveling, but the 2 midi palettes I have are just…nice/fine. I don’t feel excited to use them. My looks come out okay but are nothing special. It’s funny how people seem to love either PMcG or ND and find the other just okay/nice.
I only have one PM palette, bronze seduction, and I’ve been so disappointed in the mattes. The deep eggplant and brown is so patchy for me. I wonder if it’s me, but I’m pretty skilled and have tried it many ways. I’m scared to take a chance on another Mothership, but I’m intrigued by your analysis here. I thought I’d want this ND palette but maybe it would be a waste for me in the end. 🤔 *ponder, ponder*
I’m so with you on this! The mattes are tough to work with! I have the ND glam palette and I use it in conjunction with all of my PM palettes because I need the ND mattes but the Pat sparkles.
Saaame! Bronze Seduction was the first (and only) PM I purchased and I have to say….it was underwhelming. The mattes are stiff as can be and the shimmers/special shades are so meh. It’s pretty to look at but that’s where the joy ends.
Reading the comments makes me feel so lucky being in a place where I love both formulas. But my problem is my own eyelids which are wrinkleful which takes any formula down a notch, so it’s not a complete win for me lol
I would be so curious to hear your thoughts on the Huda new nudes or naughty nudes or rose quartz because I feel like those might be a good palettes for a variety of Kackie-esque three color eye looks. I am seriously considering the Divine Rose palette but also thinking about one or more of the Huda palettes and was wondering what your thoughts were on her formula
I got one of her mini palettes in my boxycharm a bit ago and I cannot make them work on the folded part of my partially hooded eyes. They will not stick or blend on the part that gets hidden with my eye open and it becomes this patchy mess.
The palette seemed so interesting but there is my problem with ND: everything is warm, this woman can't do a cool toned palette. On me even Glam looked too warm. And I prefer Pats formulas, although I am so fair I can use the mattes with a light hand. I am on my second Mothership 1 as I used the first one up - which is rare. And I love Viseart, Mothership 1 and Viseart Cool mattes are my stash.
I find Her formula requires natural hair brushes. It works far better. Try it. Same with pats formula. Sonya G, Rephr, Wayne goss set. Her middle blush is a cream
I wonder if eye shape also plays a part in how you feel about the formula. Or at least how you go about thinking about applying the eyeshadow. I know I apply eyeshadow a little differently than you even though our looks end up the same. For the way I’m use to applying my shadow it is lovely. I have big eyes with a lot of room for shadow and Natasha denona is one of my favorite formulas. I know tati also has a lot of room on her lids to play. Anyone else with big eyes enjoy this formula?
I think I will get a lot of use out of my dream palette but I am slightly disappointed by their quality control. On my palette the shade names are off-centered and the shade "spontaneous" is spelled "spontaneuos". It's not a big deal but palette this expensive shouldn't have faults like this. I took a closer look at Kackies palette and it actually looks like it has the same mistakes on her palette.
This was my first thought; it looks like a Pat mcgrath palette. I read some of the comments but I have to say that I prefer Pat mcgrath. I like ND but I hate that cream to powder formula which has a ton of fall out, gets hard pan and creases as well. I find them both blendable but Pat's shimmers are truly the best. But all in one the best eyeshadow is ABH
You're right, you've come a LONG way since your pumpkin spice latte review. You're still basic but you let the ✨️chaos✨️ out too now lmao But seriously... where'd you get that shirt? Pink and green are my favourite colours 💖💚
I think her formula has changed since 2017 like the purples/ star/ tropics I didn’t think were as good as the newer formulas. I’ve had chunks flake off from my eyes before.
Hahahaha thank you for presenting both sides so concisely. I was trying to shoehorn what is a pretty un-search friendly title into a 100 character limit...I hope it mostly makes sense 🥴

My biggest pet peeve is when pinky palettes don’t come with a mauve or muted pink crease shade. Those are a staple for me in general, but especially in a pink palette.
OK PREACH
You explained it perfectly!
I didn’t like ND until I tried following her tutorials exactly the way she applies and blends.
My biggest complaint with the Natasha Denona formula is that the shadows tend to fade and crease on me much more than a typical powder eyeshadow. Other than that, I do tend to like the formulas and colors. In some ways, I find them easier to use than Pat McGrath, but I still love Pat McGrath more
I notice that too!!
I have her pastel palette and have found the same unless I apply on high end shadow bases I can't get away with a full 6+ hour work shift like I can with Pat McGrath or even Colourpop lmao
She's in the photoshoot or errands pile with Patrick Ta now
That’s so interesting! Makeup is so personal! I have really oily eyelids that eyeshadow loves to crease and disappear on and I find that ND is one of the only formulas that I can wear easily with or (gasp) without a primer, even the shimmers
I find the Pat McGrath shadows easier to work with but the ND shadows do fade and crease on me! I thought I was the only one!
I bought two minis, and both broke within the first week… which is super rare for me. And the formula didn’t knock my socks off. I prefer Viseart, Elf mini, beauty pie… or any of my others
Almost everything you’ve said about this palette is exactly what I look for in an eyeshadow formula, so I guess I will be picking this up now THANKS
Hahahahahah
I would love to see a full face of beginner-friendly formulas
Wow this is a beautiful look 😍
I was super on the fence with this palette but seeing your look with it I am sold
Love this content! My first thought with the Natasha palette was how it compares to the Patrick Ta Major Dimensions II palette.
I like Natasha palette but I feel like all my looks turn out the same. However I love the looks that come from pats palette and the look different each time. I just wish pat made her palettes able to move the shades around like Natasha. That feature is one of my favorite features.
Oh gosh I wish we could move the Pat shadows around too!
literally the best look you’ve ever done
Mermaid siren sunset eyes. Obsessed with the color and shape. 🍷💕🍷
Can you do a bedroom eyes video? Specifically, what colors/palettes you use for that look would be super helpful.
Which brush did you use to blend out that fushia color? That made a huge difference! lovely!
High quality brushes totally upped my eyeshadow game… entire makeup game. I’d love to see you try Biba and Glam.
I love this make up look absolutely stunning. It's gorgeous on you .Keep rocking the side part 😃
That look is stunning - I want to recreate it on my very cool toned skin!
@@ParticularlyChar Right!? I wish I could buy all the special shades. So many I drool over! ✨
This is FASCINATING 🤓
Saaame! Bronze Seduction was the first (and only) PM I purchased and I have to say….it was underwhelming. The mattes are stiff as can be and the shimmers/special shades are so meh. It’s pretty to look at but that’s where the joy ends.
I am so convinced that PMG Divine Rose is all I need and I don't need this so thank you for saving me $70!
Wow, thanks for this video! I just deleted the My Dream Palette from my wish list since I have the Pat McGrath palettes.
Witchy glam academia- my new favorite 🤩
Reading the comments makes me feel so lucky being in a place where I love both formulas. But my problem is my own eyelids which are wrinkleful which takes any formula down a notch, so it’s not a complete win for me lol
I’M HERE FOR BRIGHT ACADEMIA it’s giving blues clues mixed with Barbie and Ralph Lauren.😍
I’m also always here for the bops you use for background audio 😂
NAILED IT!!! This is IT.
@@kackie I was going to say, it's like 1989 Benetton & Esprit had a baby...but that description works too😋
I would be so curious to hear your thoughts on the Huda new nudes or naughty nudes or rose quartz because I feel like those might be a good palettes for a variety of Kackie-esque three color eye looks. I am seriously considering the Divine Rose palette but also thinking about one or more of the Huda palettes and was wondering what your thoughts were on her formula
Here for the “to me it looks like a leprechaun to me” reference 😂
🤣 you see me, thank you
I'm only here for the what I assume is Rowing Blazers rugby shirt. The heck with eyeshadow.....PINK AND GREEN IT"S FAB!!!!!
It is!! And it's the CROPPED ONE 🥰
@@kackie I figured! Only XS is still available in the crop. Will go with the men''s.....IT"S Gorgeous!!
Super review, Kackie! Thanks!
I got one of her mini palettes in my boxycharm a bit ago and I cannot make them work on the folded part of my partially hooded eyes. They will not stick or blend on the part that gets hidden with my eye open and it becomes this patchy mess.
Love this, love you! (As ever!) Just a heads up that many of the links down below don’t seem to be working.
THANK YOU! Fixed.
Hi, is the Tower 28 mascara better than Merit Beauty mascara? Merit mascara doesn’t smudge on me at all. It’s my holy grail 👍🏻
The leprechaun phrase had me dying, I say that literally all the time 😅 and I feel like people don’t know what I’m saying and it irks me lol
HAHAHA
Is something going on with ND face palettes cause my highlighter palette came broken too
Some of the shades are actual cream to powder shades, like that purple, so the don't blend like regular powder matte shades
That makes me even more perplexed. Like if it doesn't blend with a brush, why use it for a matte shade? It's not very intuitive.
Maybe I've cray cray, but would not have more flexibility in terms of saturation if you got the PM palette with the intensifeyes?
Hey Kackie where are the "arts and crafts" style bead bracelets from?
Bombonitas!
@@kackie thank you!! I have 2X speed watched 22 videos so far looking for you to mention them. Lol
What was the brush with which you applied the blush?
I find Her formula requires natural hair brushes. It works far better. Try it. Same with pats formula. Sonya G, Rephr, Wayne goss set. Her middle blush is a cream
Where are your glasses from? 🤓❤️
They're the st michel frame from eye buy direct!
Hey Kackie! Tried the Athr 20% off code you shared, and it isn’t working. :( Letting you know in case that’s a mistake, or the time window has passed.
Sorry! Try Kackie15
I took a closer look at Kackies palette and it actually looks like it has the same mistakes on her palette.
love the song you're using in this video!
You're still basic but you let the ✨️chaos✨️ out too now lmao
But seriously... where'd you get that shirt? Pink and green are my favourite colours 💖💚
Hahahahaha thank you 😅 it's from Rowing Blazers
@@kackie Roger roger chaotic mama, thank you too 🖖🏾
You look AMAZING in that shirt!! I’m 99% sure you are NOT a Soft Autumn 🍂. Please get draped and tell us all about it! ❤❤❤
Side note- where is your top from please? ❤
Rowing Blazers ❤️
The music you chose was EPIC! That is all 😂
🥹
I love this palette!
I think her formula has changed since 2017 like the purples/ star/ tropics I didn’t think were as good as the newer formulas. I’ve had chunks flake off from my eyes before.
If Divine Rose I is too desaturated, why not Divine Rose II as compared to the My Dream palette?
IDK I don't have that one! You are probably right
It’s hard to tell if the pink in the eyes is overpowering to me when it’s backed up by that equally bright shirt : ) Who’s to blame? I cannot say.
Yes but where is your shirt from. White shirt collar but green cuffs on a rugby is what I need
Rowing Blazers!
Can you dupe this palette using her other palettes?
My style is 100% ‘Bright, chaotic academia’ 😅
Hey Ka
"*69 (nice)" omg 🪦💀🥀 dead
🤭
good
That title though
Where's the lie tho? It's like her version of Divine Rose 1 & 2, and I have 2 so I don't need this 🤷🏾♂️
Hahahaha thank you for presenting both sides so concisely. I was trying to shoehorn what is a pretty un-search friendly title into a 100 character limit...I hope it mostly makes sense 🥴
@@nailinthefashion very true lol I have 1 and it gives me everything I'd want from this.
