I think it's normal in Japanese series to have big reactions (or dramatic as you put it) mimicking their anime. If you have watched an anime I'm pretty sure it's not new to you that characters over emphasize their emotions and reactions to elicit humor.

I haven't seen a guy so awkward, funny yet natural at the same time! When I watch BL I honestly expect they won't live up to the manga/source version and certainly will be typically cringe, but he's such a breath of fresh air. I'm not even kidding when I say I've watched My Love Mix-Up at least 5 times already, it's just that good! I couldn't get over it the first time I watched it and then I just kept watching it again and again, it's just so cute and wholesome! It's definitely one of my favorite Japanese dramas! They did the manga justice, too, and all the actors are amazing! ❤️

The number of times I've laughed while watching this show is crazy. This is by far the best BL I have watched. The cast did a great job, truly doing justice to the manga. Michi really excelled at portraying Aoki, especially considering his character is challenging to depict. I didn't cringe at his acting at all; instead, I loved it so much.
Things that i liked about this BL is that the side couple was nice, they weren't just there but actually doing something. The girl was cute and a good friend of Aoki. I liked that this series didn't have a kiss or intense scene but i was hooked to it!! Japanese people really make great fluff and cute BLs!! I am typing this while i wait for Senpai Danjito Koedewa...!

i always hated when characters in bl dramas acts unnecessarily cute. this happen a lot in Thai BLs. But not with Japanese BLs. first Adachi now Aoki both are such a naturally cute characters, you can relate to their cuteness becoz it shows in their character's personality, it is not forced. And Aoki is the cutest so far, I can't stop smiling while in other cases I would be only cringing. Actor did good job, he is so young, still...amazing! Kieta Hatsukoi is such a good drama. Well, cherry magic is best Japanese bl I have seen so far. becoz it have another gem too, Kurosawa...yay! Now watching My Beautiful Man, it's good too. J-BLs are so good, they have so many good yaoi/shounenai manga, i hope they bring out more dramas
