      I've never heard of a cop or DA admitting they had the wrong person no matter what the evidence later proved. They always claim the person was still connected in some way.

    Why does it take at least 20 years to figure out someone is innocent of a crime....there should be an independent organization to investigate every case brought to the court system

      abreefly because DNA was not available back then. Then you have a backlog to get thru and a queue for a hearing.

      Because DNA science is relatively new. We started on DNA samples in the 2000s and every case on this video the crimes started before DNA science was revealed.

    I know that on average a life sentence is 25 years and I am almost 21 years old, and since time flies by really fast, to someone 25 years is not actually that long

      Kitty The Goddess You can and I actually am legally blind. I don’t know what the exact definition is but from what I’ve heard it’s where someone sees at 20 feet what a normal person would be able to see at 200 feet. No blindness is not just seeing blackness, it’s seeing nothing at all, and people with glasses just have really blurry vision.

    The justice department are flawed and twisted.... no amount of compensation can return back their freedom, time and life. Innocent people robbed of their life.... I hoped they were all properly compensated

    That's so sad! Wrongful conviction? Damn it! And those convicts going back to a life of crime? They've probably been driven by hopelessness.     A person, like the guy who served time for armed robbery and when released committed another armed robbery, cant survive on the outside. So, they commit a crime simply to get locked up again.

    I served 49 years and was paroled 6/5/2020. 45 of those years were served in a 5 level prison. I been out 13 months now and this is not my world. The one I left was far better.

    Being legally blind doesn’t mean you “cant actually see anything”. It just means your visual acuity is 20/200 or worse without the possibility of correction. Being blind, on the other hand, now that would mean you “couldn’t actually see anything”.

    You talked a lot about innocence being locked up for crimes they didn't commit, I hope many quarts in many cities in many states see all five of these videos so they can be aware of their surroundings and do the DNA scanning tests before actually giving the suspect the sentence after the time in jail is chosen

    For some of you who keep asking why it takes so long to be proven innocent its because in america if you are imprisoned and found not guilty the state has to pay you for each day served.

      Actually thats not the reason whatsoever but yes thats true for some states. The main reason is that when a case is closed it gets ignored unless something suspicious happens and they're orders to re-open it or a lawyer reopens it to try to find something for a re-sentencing. I believe all these cases took so long for to be proven innocent is the lack of DNA technology and lack of effort and time aslong with a low budget.
