  • Yeah. Don't do this. Fishing in thick fog on a boat is not smart, luckily everybody on the water was being as safe as possible, and no wahoo's came to ruin the fun. Caught a few redfish too.

One of my best days came on a day just like this. We decided to run it anyways and were rewarded with a BUNCH of reds. I remember wading and hearing boats buzz by but never could see them. It was wild

That’s crazy man. I had a similar experience on my Jetski heading towards birds island. Half way there the storm picked up and I was disoriented trying to figure out my way back 😂 It’s about the story!!

At one point with cameras off I was in a cut and couldn’t see any islands but thought I had my bearings, ended up on the opposite side of the bay! So weird I was so confused.

With the fog, best to just go wide open, especially in areas you're unfamiliar with right after a 6 pack at 5am and the turtle box turned up to the max with some sublime.....trust me bro.

Here's a tip, wear polarized sun glasses. You will see further and clearer. I put them on not only on good sunny days but when there's an over cast and when it starts raining pretty bad.

I was on Lake Michigan once and fog rolled in so bad we couldn't see past the bow of my boat. We were trolling for King Salmon at 1.9 - 2.2mph. We could hear and were talking with other guys next to us but couldn't see them. I said, I'm going due East, EXACTLY due East. Please Make sure you are too! The guy in the other boat said, cool... we're going exactly due east too. We both trolled along...talking for over an hour before the fog lifted. When we could see each other we were about 50 yards apart and exactly parallel to each other. It was very, very nerve racking and strange. We also had two different 35' - 40' charter guys with I hoped, I presumed they had, Radar units and saw us! Because they passed really close at full throttle...also heading out east to deeper water. If I wasn't already 6 or 8 miles off shore when the fog rolled in, I would Not have went out. It's a scary and strange feeling. Dead quiet, Zero wind and zero noise except for the guys in the other boat we were talking with and the sound/waves from twin Diesels blowing by us.

I learned my lesson crossing Aransas Bay once in the fog. Thought I could simply get on plane and take it slow towards San Jose Shoreline. out of no where it seemed, a barge appeared 40 yards in front of me and I immediately had to shut it down and throw it in reverse. Never again, will either idle or wait it out. Not worth it.

Been there…launching in the same area…coming out from Mickeys around the corner…turning around before we got to the ICW…heading back home in the canal for an hour…luckily the sun and wind helped us more on that day. Still when we went out, we hit the ICW and there was still way more fog than we would have liked. We ran to our spot just fast enough to stay on plane….as we idled down…3 other boats lined up appeared out of the fog…along where we planned to fish😜🤷🏼‍♂️😂
We trolled slow and fished away from them for about a half hour before te fog lifted enough that it wasn’t an issue the rest of the day.
Scary AF…being out there on gps only and not seeing the islands…is super disorienting! Glad you played it as safe as possible and got a couple! And lived to tell the story 😂

I live in Galveston County about 2 years ago I waited 90 minutes till I felt safe enough to leave the dock and headed to a shoreline and still had a Jack Azz run 20+ - feet from me, saw me at the last minute... He stopped and apologized for 30 minutes... buy them the sun burned off a better part of the fog... Scared the flock outta me. I was even afraid to remove my Life Vest. I shoulda waited. What month was this.?
