We hauled out right beside that boat when we were in Tromsø. What a beast indeed! Looks like a great arctic platform. Enjoy!
Yall should go aboard an do a artic trip together!
Yep, everyone hauls out there... First time I saw Arktika was when I hauled s/y Sylvia there 🤪 See you in Iceland or somewhere!
Dan,
You are a bad ass brother, Your twist on Erik was legendary! Hope all of Kikas family in Haiti is OK. Keep sailing........
Great looking boat now you just need to teach him how to mount that electric sail drive

Large bathroom with a tub, rugged expedition look, and cheerful curtains!. What a beautiful unique boat!.
Oh my that boat looks like she's about to conquer both Arctic and the Antarctic, beautiful.
the boat will need an "Ant" prefix ! Btw, you don't conquer the sea, the sea allows you passage, if she pleases !
I'm as happy as you are. A tank of a boat ready for you to take her into the ice.
You are living what is many of us watchers' dream 🧿 So, please keep us filled with every aspect of it, itty bitty struggles and boatwork, not only the polished side! This comment is purely for more motivation, I believe there is a lot of people like me watching and planning silently, but be sure you are touching many souls than you think from all around the world! Godspeed my friend, all the way from Greece!
I don't think anyone is going to condemn you for not owning the boat outright. You're an adventurer. You climb mountains and then ski down them. You sail the Arctic. You solve problems and then share those solutions with the rest of us. Your channel is awesome and so are you. Keep it up. You are much admired, and appreciated.
Amazing - this man does more in 3 days than most RUclipsrs do in months. That is a real boat as well.
hi Alan, thank you. I don't think I'm THAT productive though! :D
Yes!! A late comment, but only seeing this now. I am amazed at the progress he made! So relaxed - so much achieved - but, after looking at his other vids, masses of knowledge about boats, plus arctic sailing, skiing, survival - I am a great admirer of Nordic people!
Now THAT is a boat. Very exciting.
Twin screws in tight spots is a piece of cake.
Dont even turn the wheel. Get the rudders straight and drive/turn with the engines like a tank
👍😁👍
If you've got no space to practice, I can understand your apprehension. You could see if you can get a couple of inflatables to push against for that first exit, particularly if it's windy and you don't have the option of holding off for a calm.
One pusher either side of the bow, pointing aft, and with spring lines fore and aft? You should be fine using the throttles equal and opposite for changing the heading (slewing), but if you go off line to one side (so you don't have room for the swing of whichever end of your vessel would clip if you try to get back into mid channel), it's trickier. Obviously a simple system of hand signals needs to be well thought out to direct the angle of each tug to the boat, and whether to push or pull.
If you can't arrange that and it's windy, err towards the wind at all times -- then you can just take some speed off if you've overdone it, and let the wind reposition you, but don't wait too long because obviously it will take a while to gather way again, and the whole time you will be blowing sideways.
At least you don't have a tall rig to provide lots of wind resistance!
If that's not an option, you could warp it out, even in a strong breeze, with two boats and five lines, provided they are good at following instructions. Take your time!
Beautiful project boat. Your young and capable have fun😊
Don’t pay a bit of attention to what everybody says you’re following your dream and that’s the only thing that matters 👍
Steady as she goes captain
Best of luck! Thanks for sharing!
This looks like a superb move
Very envious.
Wow! You are not kidding when you say this boat is a beast! Quite surprised about the move. This is going to be one very large project. Though you filled us in on some reasons, we do hope you are able to tell us more on what took you in this direction and why you decided to make such a large move. I can honestly say this boat will be very good for you and your type of adventuring. I think this a wonderful move for you. Wishing you all the best.
It looks to have survived the relative neglect extremely well!
That not a large project at all... a few minor repairs to worn out parts and some antifouling. I have walked around 2 year old beneteau's that are in worse shape than this.
@@ktmbikes9227 Band NEW Beneteau's are in worse shape than this boat! :-)
The right tool for the job, awesome well built for cold sailing areas, great boat. Nice condition and strong shelter for the weather and seas you intend to survive in. Congrats!
A beautiful, classic boat.
with this one, beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder ;)
We got exactly the opposite in boat philosophy, I just got a new yacht everything in carbon, slick, fast and very sexy, you got a battle ship ready for Greenland. My boat would not last a day in Arctic and my crew complain if the temperature gets below 20C. I Love yachts that are build for purpose and your yacht is certainly that. Amazing piece of kit absolutely love it, can’t wait for more of your adventures. By having twin engine with the props apart will give you great manoeuvrability.. . You will be able to turn on a 10 cent piece… I haven’t got big balls to do what you do, but I can live your adventure through your channel. 👍😄
On one hand you can sail fast around the weather, on the other you take it head on. I know alot of cruisers are adopting the fast boats and just using the modern weather knowledge to avoid issues all together and sail around them when the present themselves.
@@greatlakespowerstrokefx4 well our carbon flyer could certainly do that, but my wife just likes nice and warm weather anyway so there is zero chance for us being caught in bad weather 😂 Sailing around Arctic is just something we will do through this RUclips channel. It is so much more comfortable 😄👍
@@martineyer5336 cant really blame you. If i wanted to do what hes doing, id get the boat he got. Its pretty sweet. I grew up racing tartan tens so comfort is a foreign concept to me. Our boat is refrigerator white with 9 ply marine plywood for bulkheads. Zero teak lmao. All business
@@martineyer5336 zero chance of bad weather......mmm..yeah okay. Skippy.
@@j_rainsgoat3929we are fair weather sailers, nice and sunny or we just stay home 😂🏴☠️
Your RPM gauge is probably fine. It gets its signal from the alternator on diesels. If the alternator is not working, the RPM gauge won't either. Fix the alternator and it will start working.
⬆️ some tachs are direct (cable) drives.
NOTE: Not all diesel engines tachometers are from the alternators.
OMG, what a find, that boat is perfect for your plans, so clean and looks absolutely well maintained!!! Sounds super exciting to me and I look forward to your new journeys! Thanks so much for your wonderful episode!
Wow. Just outstanding
Really excited for this next phase! Have been missing the Arctic allure.
A fantastic dream come true !!
Great to see you guys are back! Look forward to your journey. Awesome boat!!
So excited to see your new yacht! It looks strong and safe, great for the high latitudes and winter travels. All the best 👍🏼 👍💪🦬
Such a nice boat. I’m looking so forward to seeing your adventures on it.
So happy for you guys - awesome adventures are ahead. Good luck!!
That boat is EPIC! so happy for you, and looking forward to what you cook up in the future.
So excited and glad to hear about your new adventure. Looking forward to the next video. Love your new ship...
What an amazing boat! Really looking forward to see the progression of this story.
I am very happy to see that Arktika will be back in the water, as previous owner has made many interesting voyages and photos. I know the new "owner" will likely do the same! You are the right person for that boat! It has so much potential. I am genuinely happy to see it go to an admirable sailor who can use it to do what it was meant to do.
Also enjoyed your tour of the boat. META makes some great (famous for expedition boats) boats, and it is a great pedigree. Boat's like that deserve an owner who will use it to the full potential it has. I can imagine you will be doing some "expedition" type sailing, and your crew will be lucky to be aboard it with you. I hope you will do the Northwest Passage in it someday and show us your voyage in video. I am subscribed and always enjoy your videos. Fair winds (and plenty of fuel)!
thanks a lot Uhlich and happy to see you're following along. Nice to see that you're familiar with the previous owner's journeys, very interesting stuff... 😎
Hello. A few minutes ago I decided to see if there was any new videos and basically at the same time you had uploaded this video. Impeccable timing. The boat is truly a monster.
So good to see when the right boat finds the right owner - looking forward to seeing where you go with this. Congratulations.
That was exciting to watch you explore your new vessel and she’s a beast. I will be looking forward to the new adventures and wish you safe seas. Hold fast!!
I am sooooooooo excited for you!! And I’m excited for me to see it all unfold!
What a wonderfull Floating house! Looking forward for the new big adventure!
Glad to see you back on the air as you have been missed with your wonderful videos of Sweden and Norway and the winter sailing, etc. The boat looks great from what I can see and am looking forward to more great videos. I am sure that you will be able to maneuver the boat out of the marina without any major issues. Take care and stay well.
that's an amazing piece of ocean going machinery. I'm excited to see how your voyages go!
Congratulations on the awesome expedition boat. I can't wait to see where you take her.
6:35 I know this was a year ago but, wow, this is really exciting! Just found your channel the other day, love that you're doing winter sailing. Greetings from Newfoundland.
I look forward to your new journeys! Thanks so much for your wonderful episode!
what an incredible boat, you can store a snowmobile on the deck :) Have fun and best of luck. Look forward to this next chapter in your adventurous life.
Looking forward to see more of this boat - looks awesome
Wow...an intersting project. Looking forward to the new challenges your new adventure brings.
That is one impressive boat and with those capabilities it will open up all sorts of cool adventures. Looking forward to seeing all your new videos to come. :)
Sooo happy to have found this channel about a month ago.. watched all your back vids and was immediately pulled into your beautiful adventure. Amazing new boat! Lovely week to you and Sohvi🌺
Excited to see what you and your friends get up to with this amazing machine in one of the last true, terrifying wild parts of the world. Most people don't know what beyond reach of help means. Full reliance on yourself and the machine and the work you have done to prepare her. I'll be watching - thanks
This looks so exciting. Would love to know the back story on how all this came about. Can't wait to see your adventure.
Awesome Juha, well done on your new beast, looking forward to following your adventures.
Don't Fret about what people think, It's your life, live it your way,
Wow the begining of a great adventure for sure! Can't wait to see more episodes.
thanks Marco, more to come!
My husband and I just started watching your channel!! We are really enjoying everything you have shared❤❤❤
Congratulations. Very happy for you. Happy sailing.
Good to see you back in action Hugo..& your new teammate is illuminating & impressive in so countless ways...so stoked for you & your partners & of course for your sweet Sohvi .
Congratulations. I am really happy for both of you. You selected a solid boat. It is beautiful. Thanks for posting the video. It was nice to watch. Best of luck with everything.
I am impressed…This boat will deliver and it might take some time to get used to all her capabilities…But you both are no rookies…Congratulations..
All i can say is wow for now.... really looking forward to seeing the beast out on your new adventures.
wow!!!! brilliant! so excited to follow where you guys go with this boat. :)
Really looking forward to following the next leg of your journey :). thanks for sharing!!!
Congratulations on the new boat ! Looking forward to the next episode !
Hi as long as it works for you do not worry what other people think because there’s always going to be people that haven’t got the guts to do what you’re doing and just couch chair sailors I’m looking forward to seeing more videos especially splashDown with the boat Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia
Wow, what a beast! Interested to see more and hear how it goes once in the water. Super cool project
After watching a few sailing channels in warmer regions, I was aching to find one for the polar areas. A trip to Antarctica few years back confirmed my feeling that I would prefer the colder areas and love the ice. I've just subscribed so that I can live the adventure with you. Fair winds and calm seas!
Amazing boat, what a beast. What a fantastic opportunity to see some countries that are really in the wilderness area's. Can't wait to see your journey.
Great boat! I’m very excited to see your journey to Greenland, good luck!
Happy to have found your channel. Let the adventures begin!
Dude your awesome! You have a dream and vision. You are making both a reality. Inspiring
WOW a great boat and great your going to go real time! Can't wait for new video's!
Roll on the next installment. Congratulations Im 👏 really pleased for ye. Sean and Mairit.
What a great deal for all involved! I totally get it! Good for you, and great for the owner! A sitting boat rots so very quickly!
I cant wait to see a full tour of the boat. Looks great .
Wow! That's serious solid boat there. Whatever works for you guys and definitely sure don't care what others think or say.
I can’t believe the fuel capacity and engine range of this boat! Just wow! I can’t wait to see your next 20 episodes! Learning to dock a beast of this weight takes nerves of steel, but with opposing thrust from the twin engines you’ll be able to maneuver quite well. I am so excited for you!
Hey man, what a fantastic concept you are getting your self into. Yes! I love it and can't wait to follow your adventures. And as you said, the content is more important than flashy edited videos. And definately your channel looks even more exciting now. People are following many sailing channels. But only a handful of those are unique. And yours surely becomes even more unique now. Go for it and good luck!
It's like riding a bicycle. Push the right hand telegram forward and the left hand back and it turns left. You don't need the rudders for that effect. Other way is other way.
If you have a bow thruster, you can make it go sideways... :-)
Wow congratulations. Perfect boat for you. I agree don't worry about fancy filming work just film and post. Looking forward to next episode.
Congratulations on the new boat. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Can't wait to see more of this beast. Good luck getting out of that marina!
How exciting for you! I will be watching your progress with anticipation. Being an old fart, I'm wary of aluminium hulls (my yacht was wooden), but I suppose that there are now modern methods to counter corrosion issues. Decades ago I saw some very bad damage caused by just a small amount of copper wire whiskers sitting in the bilge of a French aluminium yacht for a year or so. Any exposed aluminium on the hull becomes a "sacrificial anode", so a small scratch or ding can lead to big problems, as can stray currents from the electrics. But I'm sure you are well aware and on top of it!
Please keep posting the fantastic nature and landscape footage. To my option you provided the most beautiful videos of the Artic
I find you completely amazing an to Kno that kinda option is out there gives me much hope it's like a rent to own house.... So happy for you this boat is you ... I'm so excited to see where an what you get up to.... Super adventure abounds..... Thanks for sharing your life with us... Grateful for the lessons ✌🏼💗😊❣️
I just subscribed today. Thanks for making such interesting content. I would love to have more detail in coming videos about your prep and shakedown of the new boat.
That boat totally suits you and your purpose. Enjoy! And thanks for the great vids.
Thank you !!!
Awesome. I look forward to watching you sail it.
Interesting project, great looking boat…..congrats and happy days !
Congratulations. This is going to be awesome. Your a good guy. Great content coming.
Congratulations. She is a big, beautiful Beast of a travel companion.
May you have safe and extraordinary adventures together.
That hard chine was a surprise. After thinking about it, though, it would make sense for an expedition craft. You should be able to be hit by a very strong gust in inclement weather and enjoy a more forgiving behaviour by the boat. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the water.
Badass! Do whatever it takes to GET THAT BOAT!!!
Looking forward to watching your adventures. I can tell you know your way around boats.
Big Congreats ...I can´t wayt for your next adventures...all the best
Congratulations to this great yacht!
... a very robust design with redundant rudder or motor
... and very, very comfortable
... you can sail well and live in the far north.
Best regards Werner from southern Germany
Wow what an amazing boat, can't wait for the next episode!
i am happy for you! enjoy the new boat and good luck for your adventures. its good that you just rent this boat, doesnt matter what other says.
Alluring Arctic is back! Good deal! Flat landers in the sage brush sea enjoy your ocean field trips! 🤠
It is so good to finally see a video of Arkitka. That boat is a beast with so much room for friends, gear, and food it is going to be a great platform for adventure to Iceland, Greenland, and perhaps a northwest passage to Russia! That would be an incredible journey for sure! I like the idea of a closer to real time format. Your past video are amazing for showing beautiful scenery that is wonderfully blended with amazing scenery complimented with your story telling. Please oh please include the epic drone shots on your new journey that you gave us in past ones! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to watching the next video!
awesome mate! good luck on your adventure! cant wait to see your journey!
Wow…awesome beast, can’t wait to see the adventures you will have!
So glad you are back and what a boat! Wow cannot wait for the content from Greenland and beyond. interesting reading the history of the boat.
good for you, an amazing ship to sail the world in
