just wanted to say Kevin is amazing; as a low-income person of color it feels incredible to hear the same concerns i foresaw myself having in law school! thanks for this great video.
lemon WE ALL have color. Person of color is an offensive term invented to exclude and segregate European Americans from all other groups. Don't be bigoted.
"It's so important to take up space in the classroom. Especially people who feel they don't belong in law school, because maybe we're the people who need to be in law school." I loved that. Kevin is seems so intelligent and he explains things very well. I'm currently applying to law school as someone with a similar background and I really appreciated his insight. Great advice from you all, thank you!
This group is so cute, and the ladies are wonderful, but I think the young man is probably on the road to becoming a law professor. I can see the teaching aspect in the way that he explains concepts.
Both of them had such awesome insights! Especially love how Lindsay chatted about building up a strong sense of self and balancing staying true to your nature and taking up space - all things I’m actively working on :)
You're 45? That's so encouraging because I am 45 and was wondering about attending law school. It is something that has always been in the back of mind that just won't let me go. I teach college English right now. How are you doing in law school? Would love to know about your progress.
Regina Y. Favors I’m turning 29 at the end of the year, and I am only now getting the desire to attend law school. Like you, it has always been at the back of my mind and I’ve been fight it bc I have a passion for teaching and education. But damn it! my mind is telling me to apply to Howard 😓😭. So I’m going to do. I’ve been studying for the LSAT. On reddit, RUclips and other forums to get a better understanding/idea of what I’m really getting myself into.
@@mrksbrnd91 That's really encouraging to read. I don't know if I'm really afraid or if I just don't want to become a litigator. But there are issues I want to fight concerning chronic homelessness and issues in my field. I am an adjunct at a college and we need to be unionized. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that pursuing a law degree would definitely add to my knowledge base. I read contracts and annual reports for fun now. How strange is that? I pick up on the language quickly. As an English teacher, you know we critically think and analyze topics to death, so there's that. I will seriously reconsider it. Taking your instruction into consideration, study for the LSAT and continue viewing RUclips videos as I do now. I appreciate your response very much. Thank you!!!!
This is great!!! I am in my last year of undergrad, and I am studying for the LSAT right now. I feel so ready to jump into law school but this made me really take a step back so that I can focus on what I need to do before hand. Also, I am a first-gen student too, and a first generation Mexican-American, so it was nice to hear Kevin's perspective.
Thank you all for sharing! Every piece of advice is super helpful! I watched this video when I started preparing for the LSAT and I am watching this video again when I am prepared to hit "submit". I love the idea of combining authenticity and professionalism in the personal statement. While the balance is so hard to find, I am now comfortable to admit that I'll never have a perfect personal statement and I have to move on. Thanks again for the amazing videos!
This is a great video! I'm currently applying to Stanford right now and look forward to fall 2020 (speaking it into existence everyday!!) Ester, I hope you'll continue a series like this checking back with Lindsay (I'm from the suburbs of Chicago as well!) and Kevin throughout their first year!
@@khiemnguyen9 Hi! Thanks for asking! After some deep searching, I felt as if law school was not the path for me and I'm currently pursuing a different degree. Law school didn't seem like a "fit" for what I really wanted to do with my career. For those on the law school journey, I wish everyone the best of luck! Revisit why you want to go law school and make sure that "passion" is still burning while applying!
It's refreshing to see everyone's excitement and enthusiasm over law school. If you're now preparing for the bar, I am happy to share my tips. Good luck to all!
Hi! I’m also a 1L and I’ve been watching your videos for the past year as I was getting ready for school. This is one of my favorite video! Please make more like this! Thank you so much for all you law school contents!
Thank you for the video. Awesome content it is very helpful to watch. Your videos help to grasp the concept of what happens at law school and the different struggles and also the great moments. Thank you so much for what you do. I hope your 3L year goes very well.
Does Lindsey ( not sure if this is how it is spelled) have a RUclips channel?? I would really be interested in seeing more of her perspective as an A.A at Stanford! It is so nice to see this type of representation!!
This is really really awesome!! Not only really helpful for 1L but also can be applied at work and life!!! Thanks for sharing! Look forward to seeing more videos like this~~~
This is my first year graduate study in the United States. And my major is computer science but it is hard for me to be ahead of others. My advantage is in other things. JD is a way for me to be away from current situation. And I hope I can do better in future.
Just took the LSAT and am applying in September. FUNNY you say Stanford is a small law school because the school Im looking at has 250 students TOTAL. So like 80 people per year. Crazyy
Thank you so much for your inspiring videos 😭 ✨ Im a first gen. Asian American female with no one around me to ask for law school advice, and your videos really helped with my journey to decide whether law school is right for me. If you have a couple mins, it would be wonderful if i can email you for some questions about your law school experience 😭✨
Awesome content. I am considering to be a lawyer in the next few years. I find your content very useful. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in also hearing from a law professor? Or if you, Esther, would be able to interview a law professors side and what they constantly see with students as well as advice to law students.
This is why west coast schools are just overall better places to study than the traditional east coast ones. They embrace the personal approach where critical thinking and logic trumps strict and overly formal outdated institutions. Its like the west coast realized that you can have fun and relax a little bit while still getting the same level of education.
This was a great discussion and very informative as well. I'm kind of confused as to what an anti-racism activist group has to do with taking fewer classes as a 1L though...
It doesn't. Ironic since the number one group of violence combined with racism in America, is probably not the group they are thinking of. Is there an anti-racism group at Stanford fighting the anti-white racist Critical Theory teachings?
just wanted to say Kevin is amazing; as a low-income person of color it feels incredible to hear the same concerns i foresaw myself having in law school! thanks for this great video.
As a high-income person of monochromatic shades, I could not relate.

That's incredible. I am starting 1L this fall as a 40-something as well.
This was the most in-depth 30-min panel conversation I've ever heard.
This is so wholesome 😭
Wholesome is the perfect description for this video 🙌🏿😭

whendiii please what is 1L?
Justina Adarkwah it just refers to law student by their year. So first year law students are 1Ls and second year law students are 2Ls etc.
Thank you all to make this topic so interesting !! It's useful

With that hair, he reminds me of a white K-pop star!
Kevin needs a channel ASAP!
Lindsey: “my mom is so hip, she has a twitter”
Esther + Kevin: 😦🤭 @ 1:34

Great Insight! Keep It Going!
Omg yes! Hopefully I can be one of those viewers in four years!
Apart from the fact that this was a gr8 vid, ur one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever seen. Love from England 🤘
