Thanks Alex! I’ve picked up some of these from yard sales, etc ( nice old tools of unknown brands!). But my problem is with sharpening. What sort of bevel is best. A long bevel like a Skandi or a shorter bevel like a bench chisel? Many thanks if you can shed some light on this.

I go with a longer skandi bevel!

What palm tools would recommend especially for carving from 1x1 to 7 inches tall

I like Flexcut and Pfiel if you’re looking for pre sharpened ones. Stubai makes nice unsharpened palm tools as well!

I ordered a few gouge tools made by Drake. But it's unfortunate that the death of one of the manufacturers delayed the shipment of the tool..
Also I noticed that electric tools for carving are being advertised more and more frequently, which supposedly won't even require sharpening..
I'm curious what you think about such tools and whether they really replace traditional carving by hand.

I don’t think they replace hand tools but electric tools can be really nice when working on bigger projects which require bulk removal of material!
