@@nworder4life Tbh its not that important anyway. Zelda was always about the players journey and not Links journey which sounds weird but is the Truthahn.
It's allegorical / mythical instead of literal. Japanese / Buddhism has layers and different "realms" that beings ascend or descend to based on karma and how they live their lives. The Depths are, iirc, a realm of beasts - nothing but emptiness and hunger and stagnation which is why the creatures you find there are monsters and the destructive, foolish Yiga only interested in selfish power. On the flip side, Japanese culture believes the royal family descends from the Sun Goddess who married the first Emperor, similar to how Sonia marries Rauru and founds Hyrule. The "heavens" are the sky, where the gods live.
“Emptiness… stagnation…” Wow, such a wonderful place to explore. Explains a whole lot more. The depths should have been smaller and have been the dark world instead with unique enemies and bosses.
And you don't think that Japanese artists might be interested in literally depicting the metaphor of their belief systems? Hell used to be metaphorical until Dante Alighieri wrote a very popular fiction about HIS belief system, for example, and now Hell is almost always depicted as subterranean because of "Inferno."
How you gonna hit me in the feels with the snowed Rito Village theme like that... 🥺 Also, you know what's something that really intrigues about the Depths? Those pillars that let you Ascend to the surface! Why are they located where they are? There's one on each corner of the map, one under Korok Forest...and then several pillars in random locations that, upon closer inspection, actually lead you to vantage points that let you view a Geoglyph... ...but the Geoglyphs shouldn't have been there during the time the Zonai were active to build those pillars...besides, why didn't the Zonai set up the pillars near the abandoned mines, where they would be much more convenient? Lastly, why is the ambient music that plays near the pillars so creepy?
My theory for Zelda having the Triforce in BotW/TotK lies in Zeldas Pilgramage before the calamity. She visited 3 very special Places called the springs of Power, Courage and lastly Wisdom. I think that Hylia or Naryu, Din and Farore (or the Dragons) bestowd Zelda there with their respectiv Fragment of the Triforce so shed be powerful enough for the upcoming battle.
If you remember, Zelda actually was never able to make it to the Spring of Wisdom, the Calamity had struck when she, Link, and the champions were on their way there. That’s why she wasn’t able to awaken her powers in time.
@@sundaychickenz5727 In memory 15 of BotW Zelda just comes back from the spring of wisdom. The Description Reads as follow: "Zeldas efforts at the Spring of Wisdom at Mount Lanayru bear no fruit. Upon her descent down the mountain she and the Champions witness the awakening of Calamity Ganon." Please rewatch the memories befor you say something that isn't true :)
I feel like Ive been converted to an adult timeline believer now. The items of the other timelines still existing but just underwater really makes sense as well. Majoras Mask for example was still real in the adult timeline it just had a different fate you could say (found and stashed in a chest as a colisseum prize)
@@markanthony7191 to get all the outfits from all three timelines there would HAVE to have been a convergence, or else we would only be able to get outfits and gear from ONE of the timelines (unless the outfits and gear from the other timelines were created in the time gap between the last game in the Adult timeline and BotW, which is unlikely based on how the descriptions of the outfits and gear reference the games they're from)
@@froggycolouringthey're saying there's no way the timelines didnt converge into one since you can get the tunics from links who existed from all three. Wind waker, twilight princess, a link to the past...etc.
Although I'm a bit skeptical to these kind of theories, of course, Ganondorf resting and recovering in the same place where his previous incarnation was locked would be so cool.
I don't think it's accurate to say the only thing we can assume is that Ganondorf was sealed underground based on that Windwaker quote. It's also possible that he broke free of the seal and in doing so was warped down below the earth. Entry to the sacred realm is always done via portals and magic. Assuming he sent himself back, it's possible he entered back into Hyrule below the land. I think the depths are the land of ancient Hyrule. I think BOTW/TOTK Hyrule was founded on the islands above. The deku tree was connecting the islands and hoped to make one big land where the people who lived there would join hands and make a better future.
And the sages from Tears Of The Kingdom are reincarnations of the sages from Ocarina Of Time, just without Saria because the Koroks are simply incapable of being helpful in this case? And what about the Zora and Rito? Could it be that after Spirit Tracks and the founding of New Hyrule, the Rito that were created from Wind Waker returned to their Zora forms, while our favorite birdies the Loftwings from Skyward Sword and Ooca from Twilight Princess all evolved into the BOTW Rito we know and love? I mean, Wind Waker's Rito look more like Hylians with beak nose masks on their heads than anthropomorphic birdies, while BOTW's Rito look like Loftwings who learned how to walk talk and use their wings like human arms, and the Ooca could really use a Pokemon evolution that allow them to be more useful than tiny human heads on chicken bodies. Just imagine, the two sky creatures once said to be closest to the gods, now allowed a chance to walk alongside their masters' creation as humanoid talking birds. Wouldn't that make more sense than the timelines merging?
@@dafilmqueen556 I'm not sure if the sages are reincarnations of the OOT sages, but maybe. About the Rito and Zora coexisting, I'm of the opinion that some of the Zora just left Hyrule (pre-flood)/the great sea (post flood) some time before Link sets out in WW. We already know from OOA and TOTK that there are foreign Domains out there and OOA shows us that the Hyrule Zora would sometimes migrate with Jabu-Jabu outside Hyrule
@jorgeoquendo7514 , aw man, but the Loftwings and Ooca would work so well if they evolved into BOTW'S Rito. We literally only see them each in one game, and it would work well considering they are established to be close to the goddesses. Why wouldn't it work?
@@dafilmqueen556 In my opinion, the BOTW/TOTK Rito are clearly supposed to be the WW Rito, but way in the future. This is made clear by their divine beast being Vah "Medoh" (like Medli) and their town theme being the Dragonroost island theme. In TOTK they doubled down on the Dragonroost theme in Colgera's theme. It's not that it wouldn't work, it's that I think the clear intention is that.
The Sacred Realm is the Pre-Deluge Hyrule, which got covered in mud that solidified (became the soil of the next iteration of Hyrule) over time. The Zonai didn't dig, they built normally, at their ground level.
It is definitely the Triforce at work when Zelda's power eclipses Sonya's. You can also see the Triforce formed when Rauru unleashes his power when you look frame by frame. You can see the golden triangle form and then at 18:07 you can see 3 triangles expanding out pointing upward in the standard formation of the Hyrulean Triforce. At 18:08 you see three downward triangles similar to the Lorulean Trifoce. Moments later at 18:08, the Hyrulean Triforce (possibly complete) appears. It is unknown if these stones would be harnessing the power of the Triforce in other instances, but they are here. Also, loved the video with you and Conrad; both brilliant Zelda theorist!
The whole point of timelines converging is that multiple things that may not be fully congruent come together to form a singular, yet likely forgotten, history
The depths are an exact mirror of the topography of the land above. If it were the old Hyrule I feel like after several thousands of years they wouldn't mirror each other so perfectly. The lightroots down there are also directly connected to the shrines Rauru places around Hyrule for the purpose of purging and cleansing evil. If anything I feel like the depths are a purgatory for spirits and not the sacred realm especially since TotK has heavy emphasis on spirits. Also to me the depths and the plant life there have more in common with caves with all the moss and mushrooms.
I personally think that modern TOTK is the end of the Timeline, but that Rauru and Sonia's time came before Skyward Sword. That would explain the missing Champion and the missing Master Sword much easier (hadn't yet been created), and would also explain why so many different iterations of Ganondorf/Ganon/Demise/Malice are shown to come up from the ground: they're all just manifestations of the Demon King's power seeping up and being reborn while the Demon King lies imprisoned. But I still think your theory that the Modern timeframe of TOTK/BOTW was built on top of a Hyrule buried by the ocean and by the Korok's land. Consider this: what if the Hyrule that Zelda went to in the past is the one eventually covered by the Ocean? She realizes instantly that its a completely differently Hyrule than her own, maybe thats because its topography is immediately, noticeably different to her? Added to the theory, what if it was her and Mineru who raised the Skyloft islands before Skyward Sword, not Hylia? They just mistook her for Hylia because she draconified soon after, and all the dragons have Goddess counterparts, even back during SS? And that's why nobody saw the Sky Islands before the Upheaval, because the Cloud Barrier hid them until the Light Dragon broke that barrier at the beginning of TOTK. (When you first see the Light Dragon, you can't see the surface because the clouds beneath you are too dense to see through to the surface. She flies up through those dense clouds beneath you, and they all dissipate so you can see the surface.) To me it would just make the most sense to have TOTK essentially be the endcaps to the entire series: Sonia and Rauru's time being the beginning, and Link's destruction of Ganondorf being the end.
The flaw with this theory is that if you watch the scene when Zelda first sees ancient Hyrule, you can pick out landmarks that match in the modern era, like the Dueling Peaks, except the peaks are a single mountain back then.
See this is why I get confused too. I thought the same thing but all the items of the different timelines are in it and most weren't created until after skyward sword.
I don't necessarily think I agree, but I love the idea of the master sword getting transported back in time, and the goddesses see it, and go " damn whoever made that was cooking ", and start to make plans to copy it for themselves.
Kinda makes the flooding of Wind Waker make sense, in a way. Ganondorf was put in the Basement, but got out, so the Gods made Hyrule the new basement, so to speak.
11:40 this tiny funny bit caught me so offguard as I was enthralled by this phenomenal theory, I burst out laughing and rewinded 5 times! *Honks horn at you guys*! 😂
Also imporant point from age of calamity, it was zelda's mom that introduced her to sheikah technology, I know it is another time line set, but is interesting to think about it too. I do hope we can explore more about zelda's mother with the upcoming games, I mean, there could be a possibility that she could have also been a hybrid between zonnai and hylians... who knows?
Every time I see a video about totk I end up playing it more. I'm 280 hours deep. My first save was about 260 of those hours, then I reset it all to do it again I just love this game so much.
Where's Malladus though? We don't see him. Could Ganondorf have mixed him up in his own makeshift magic blender to create Calamity Ganon? I mean, where else could those eyes made from Malice or Gloom come from?
remember when The goddess hylia cut off skyloft from the ground and sent it skyward?, I think the Golden Goddesses did something very similar during the great flood, what i think is that they cut off areas from the ground like death mountain, Kokiri forest/great deku tree's meadow, gerudo fortress and Kakariko village and sent it skyward above the waves
OMG you were right when you answered me in another vid about the depths being old hyrule and the new surface being a new layer, im so hyped right now as I not alone in the world 😂😂 this channel rocks!
I have been under the impression since Breath was shown not to have a direct correlation to any one timeline, but at the same time having drags to each of them that there was some event that cause the timelines to collapse in one each other and converge into a single line. This event would likely have been catastrophic and severed much of the history from before the event to the people creating something of a clean slate, but some legends remaining. I also firmly believe that the Zonai are the long descendants of the Twili. There are quite a few similarities in their sense of aesthetic and designs. They both are adept at stonework and seem to favour square designs with carved embellishment. They also have magical activation within these structures that flash a similar green-blue colour. The Zonai also had seemed to come from nowhere with great power and were seen as gods, we know that as interlopers, the Twili possessed frighteningly powerful magics, the like of which likely unseen on Hyrule for a time so long that it wold seem godly. The Zonai then vanishing from Hyrule, I think likely back to the twilight realm, and I think likely banished by Rauru and Miniru, considering Rauru's reaction to remarks made by Ganon. The Zonai and Twili even seem to have a similar taste in fashion, wearing light, often on the more revealing side, robes black in colour with green-blue accents. And while they may not retain the hair colour of the Twili they do retain the skin colour. A pale grey. Finally, the secret stones. We have seen that the Twili had glowing stone objects that glowed in the form of the orbs you collect in the Twilight Realm, they even power up the Master Sword. These may have been a proto-form of the Secret Stone because they do not seem to have the same level of amplification as the Stones in TotK possess.
a catastrophic event, involving various timelines, that would have likely caused the loss of history and the existence of previous heroes as legend. something like... perhaps, a war? involving time travel and various characters and refugees from different ages?
Cia is... likely responsible yes. something about ripping time periods apart and putting them together MIGHT just break a rule somewhere... and the timeline trying to selfcorrect almost breaks, giving us the remnants that exist in the reborn Zonai Rauru's Hyrule
I think it becomes clear with "Link to the Past" that the Sacred Realm isn't specifically a directional place, but a sort of parallel dimension. In Ocarina of Time the Master Sword was sealed in the Sacred realm, at a location on the surface of the world. But in other games the Triforce or master sword are in the Sacred Realm, but also clearly up in the sky. Then you look at "Link to the Past" and we travel to the Sacred Realm and its pretty much a weird mirror realm to the main reality, with most places being pretty much present in some capacity. If you observe the The Elemental Dragons in BotW, when they are first spawning into the world, at least the fire and Ice Dragons are coming down from the sky... but they also seem to materialize into existence. They are coming down, both from the sky and the Sacred Realm, its not that the sacred realm is only in the sky, but they were in the sky of the sacred realm. This is also where the sky Islands are, they aren't just in the sky above Hyrule, but also somehow in the Sacred Realm, and in TotK, some of the Islands are phased out of the Sacred Realm, but are still in the sky, but I would guess that there are more portions of land up in the Sky that we don't see because they haven't left the Sacred Realm. The Lightning Dragon comes out of the Ground (water) but also from the sacred realm as well. As for the Depths, The depths are clearly just an underground "Underworld". Ganon "could" have been sealed underground.. and also in the sacred realm or just Underground, and I think it was specifically just underground.
Good video. I myself had much headache trying to put all together when I played it. After all i have seen, I prefer to believe that BotW and TotK both play in a parallel Universe, thus inevitably forming a fourth Timeline. Contra: there is a fourth timeline Pro: even though it's actually still way less confusing this way...
GossipGeist - the highest-vibe Zeldatuber. We’re in the best timeline with all of these quality channels discussing the world we love far more extensively and perpetually than we could ever imagine. Thank you for the detail and scholarly passion and good energy mate, keep it up. On the GG journey to Zelda 21 and beyond.
This makes sense since Hylia just stomped on top of Demise with Her own Statue and probably converted the Depths into his Prison and Tasked Din to Keep him there, but as the Goddess of Power she is Demise’s Champion when he cursed his descendants - he cursed them with that evil whether they wanted it or not, like how Hylia always revives beside Zelda so that Goodness is inherently part of her - Snap back bc Din is Loyal to the Ruler of Power (her 1/3rd of the Realm’s (sky [Nayru], Earth [Farore] depths [Din]) so she wasn’t able to comply with Hylia’s request and Ganon broke out since he is the Aspect of Power. The BOTW / TOTK games are about purifying some pure aspect of Ganon’s curse - that Evil that Demise incarnates with him - First they Destroyed the Calamity that had formed from Ganon having such a strong latent evil energy and that was what needed to be cleansed from his spirit so they could even get close enough through the caverns without immediately ☠️ to his Gloom (like trimming thorns to get closer to the root) Then, TOTK it’s revealed his body is still alive and in stasis, when Zelda went back in time she immediately changed the present bc with her advice they started moving Islands to the sky, and the Temple of Time on the Plateau is just the old one before they learned of Zelda’s warnings so they focused instead on the one they were putting into the sky because that was where Link would end up as Zelda’s failsafe to keep him safe So with the Malice and Gloom cleansed, they can finally destroy Demise’s curse that is tied to Ganon’s soul - The “Ancient Hero’s Aspect” has green skin, and is shown in the Ancient Scroll shown in Impa’s house; it was actually the three Goddess’ Champions from their realms (Zelda (Nayru / Sky) (Link (Farore Earth / Connection / the LINK [he’s also us, the player’s Champion and “We” are Farore which is why Link is always empowered since he’s our Champion too]), and finally Ganon who is Din’s champion (and depths / underworld) and they were actually fighting Demise THEN that’s when Demise’s curse started afflicting Ganon and cursed his Evil to always be attached to him. That’s why Ganon’s body looked like that in the past is because he lived in the depths and watched over it and he followed Demise to the Surface to Stop Him.
I'm not sure why people are surprised by a nation built on top of an old nation, it happens in real life. That's why it's so hard to do archeology in some places, like some of the old Roman towns in Italy. They were literally built over.
Bit of a nitpick, but The Great Sea in the Wind Waker did not take 1,000’s of years to drain. As at the start of Spirit Tracks, (the only game that takes place in New Hyrule) Niko Summarizes the story of Phantom Hourglass, and it’s explained (not by him) that he’s the last living character from Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass and he’s lived to be at least 100 years old. This means that it didn’t even take a century for the Great Sea to drain away(at least for the initial founding of New Hyrule); probably due to the combination of the Koroks planting new Forests and Daphnes wishing for the Great Sea to wash Hyrule away. Doesn’t really change anything about the theory, but just thought I’d mention it
Very good video! It has extremely high production quality. I can get on board with a lot of this theory. The teiforce part makes sense. We see in twilight princess that the triforce can be inherited. Link from oot had the triforce of courage and we can see that link from twilight princess also had the triforce of courage before doing anything to "earn" it. (That would also explain why ganondorf was able to get the triforce of power without touching the teiforce. It was already split apart.) I dont think the assumption that the depths is the sacred realm is complete. In the video you seem to bounce between the depths beong old Hyrule or the sacred realm. Is there another depths under the depths? I guess im just a little confused on that part. Very weel done! I look forward to the next video.
I do believe the Sacred Realm IS a Hyrule, or it may be a generic adverb for any preserved pocket dimension, SACRED version of Hyrule. I surmise the Three Golden Goddesses are only described to create OoT Hyrule specifically. This is for the sake of creating a sacred realm, that is then defiled to BE the mundane world we see as Hyrule, and SR in the "center" of it as in, The Depths of it. This allusion is the same when water flows in Sage Rauru's realm and in the Wind Waker Hyrule that gets flooded over. Zelda's time powers in OoT exist an an extension of having great control over that Sacred realm, similar to Wind fish's dream. Hylian Mother as I dub Link's mom would have escaped a pre-existing world to secure Link with Deku tree in this new realm, and further her wishes would be realized in the child timeline ending. Ganondorf is not so much in OoT to pursue Hylian Mother, but ANY realm where he may access Triforce, so he is reborn in OoT through his dark magic, biding time his time through countless reincarnations every 100 years. Within only one realm, realtive time dilation means nothing. When the endgame reverted Child Timeline begins, Ganondorf's sealing into the Sacred realm separates two dimensions: Sage Rauru's realm from Young Link's sanctuary, that itself starts unraveling into Majora's mask and Twilight Princess. HERE, Sage Rauru who is a spirit like king Rhoam and an ancestor of Zelda's, somehow passes on the bloodline of Hyrule Royal Family to another branch, begetting Daphnes and Tetra. This part is fuzzy in the maternal passing of it, but satisfying excuses could be made. This in PARTICULAR is the EXACT MECHANISM how I explain "timelines" can happen. I don't accept that they just turn up as Xerox copies because "other decisions" were made witohut some godly reason why a NEW WORLD was also created. With Upheaval, I have my explanation. I believe PART of Hyrulean population and landmass ends up in a DIFFERENT realm through a sky portal, and a part does not. While Child Timeline was left in one, what became of Sacred realm and Ganondorf sealed within it, started drawing elements from child timeline to BUILD Adult timeline with. Downfall timeline was the first one, it was ALWAYS there, and where Hylian Mother came from, directly following from Skyward Sword. Adult and Child timlines in and of themselves are like Dark world of AlttP, not realities to their own right simply standing ABOVE any plot distinction, as convenient "also canons" or "lol so much time has passed that nothing matters" like the flimsy BotW connection.
7:40 a side note, but I immediately thought, those trees the Koroks were planting must be the origin of those huge tree husks you find all over in BotW/ToTK (ie: the hills around Deya Village)
This is good. I had an original theory that BotW could be an alternate timeline that occurred due to the King of Red Lyons eventually dying and his wish on the Triforce was undone allowing the old Hyrule to return and the story would continue from there with either a new Ganondorf to be born or his uncasing from magic stone one the Master Sword was removed from his head and he revived starting the whole cycle over again until he would be sealed by the hand and the Calamity would occur. But then Tears of the Kingdom told a different story. And I think this theory being told here is a good argument. Until we get a game outside of Hyrule Warriors where we see the timelines converge, then it's going to be a head scratcher. But here's the thing...what happened to the Ocarina of Time??? To me, it is the very thing that caused the division between the child and adult timelines, so it would have to be the thing that caused the reconvergence. And the downfall timeline is really just an alternative off shoot like Age of Calamity (a what if). Unless...you consider that the rain in A Link to the Past could be the start of the gods beginning to flood Hyrule and will happen if Link fails...but then that means that the King would have to survive and Agahnim killed him.
Very intriguing stuff which will leave me thinking about this for awhile. Makes me ponder if the Link in MM, upon leaving Hyrule, ended up losing his piece of the the triforce too.
I agree. When the Flood happened, it also filled up the dark world because Ganondorf had just opened up the cracks not too long ago. So, aquatic plants and ocean bed floor would make sense. Awesome video!!!! 👍👍👍😁😁👏
It could be so fun if, should Nintendo decide to make a 3rd game in the BOTW world, the next game has us control the ancient hero and help Ancient Hyrule to locate the Master Sword & the Triforce! Perhaps they could also provide an explanation for the Master Sword’s newfound energy issues
I really like this theory - on the flipside, I think that the Sacred realm is just really high in the sky. In the same way that you see red particles floating around in the depths, you see blue particles floating around in high altitude low gravity zones (like in the shrine in the Zonai forge island)
My own theory is that there are 3 Eras of the Wild, one in each timeline. There was never a convergence, each timeline simply has its own version of the descent of the Zonai, the Imprisoning War, the two Calamities, BOTW, and TOTK, but they all play out the same in each timeline with no noticeable differences. This would mean that in the Eras of the Wild for the Child and Downfall Timelines, the Rito would've needed to evolve from something else.
Like the Loftwings from Skyward Sword and Ooca from Twilight Princess? I mean, BOTW's Rito look like Loftwings who learned how to walk talk and use their wings like human arms, and the Ooca from Twilight Princess are said to have been close to Hyrule's royal family and the goddesses, just like the Loftwings once were. The Rito need to evolve from something, and I doubt that human headed chickens would be very useful in the long run. So it would seem like the Ooca and Loftwings had a Pokemon evolution into our favorite humanoid birdies..😂❤
I replayed OoT and I had hte same idea! But for this to be true, another theory I believe need to be true: Ganondorf from Wild era it's not the same person as in OoT! I loved your video, this needs more views!!
correct the new Ganondorf is not the ocarina of time one because that ganon was divided into three just like the world was child timeline one is captured and was executed but the evil king Ganon gifted him the triforce of power before being sealed away an he was then tossed into the twilight realm later to be released by Zant and then defeated by the Hero of Twilight/dawn. and other Ganondorf from the adult timeline was beaten by link's descendant the hero of Winds and turned to stone by the power of the master sword and zelda's light. and the era of darkness Ganondorf was slain by a child chosen to become a new hero
Very interesting theory. I always admire the amount of dedication and research you put into these. As usual another fantastic video, always looking forward to the next one! 😁
Honestly I truly hope this theory is true cause my biggest gripe with Tears is that it felt as though it just threw away lore and story. This would fully link it and I love it !!!!!
It’s also interesting to note that (source: a theory I saw a while ago) the chamber of the Trial of the Sword looks like it’s underground, similar to the rest of the Sheikah stuff in breath of the wild. And, in that theory, the guy had some pretty solid proof that the chamber of the trial was the Sacred Realm. (I might come back and edit this with the source)
Sup Gossip Geist, I have a huge question about legend of Zelda. You know how the zora evolved to the rito in wind waker, they also inherited their blue sapphire symbol as the Rito, soooo in tears of the kingdom they have their own symbol now, and the Zora has there blue sapphire symbol back. How did the Zora get their symbol back from the Rito, which caused the Rito tribe to get their own symbol?
Ah, but the Rito in the Wind Waker actually do have their own symbol! The flags on the cliffs outside of Dragonroost Island have the Rito symbol on them! There's also the flag that Zunari has in his shop, which also has the Rito symbol on it.
Super interested in hearing what your thoughts are on who the eighth heroine is after more information was revealed about them in the side quest. It seems like they’re hinting at the eighth heroine actually being the ancient hero. Please do a video on this one! 🙏 Also, subscribed. Amazing content with a lot of work clearly put into it ❤
It's most definitely the Ancient Hero. The 7 Heroines, after being saved by his intervention, told him that although his deeds were greatly appreciated, they could not properly show him their gratitude due to his "kind" not being welcomed in their society. I believe most people would assume they are referring to his gender, since males aren't allowed in Gerudo Town, but I'd like to think they were referring to the fact that he was a Zonai. Ganondorf harbored an aggressive rivalry sort of feeling against the Zonai. It seems to me that he had a strong disliking of them, which could have very well extended across the ages from one Gerudo King to the next. This sentiment could have been deeply ingrained into Gerudo society, even long after they potentially stopped their tradition of having a male Gerudo become their King. Thank you for enjoying my content!
I want to say something about the Dragons and Zelda's. The other 3 dragons are not Zonai who turned into dragons. With the new light that Zelda did in fact have the full Triforce in TOTK before and during turning into a dragon. Why is it that her dragon parts are inferior to the other 3? If they were Zonai surely Zelda's dragon parts would offer more time and more power than the others being that she has the Triforce. Before anyone says "Oh but there's a trade off, hers heals you" NO! The healing effect comes from her light powers you can draw that conclusion from the Gloom Weapons since those have the opposite effect of taking health. (thanks to the darkness from Ganondorf)
i mean, the trade off IS that they heal you. If you aren't using them for combat, like in elixirs, im pretty sure they're equally as powerful, but they're filled with healing energy, not elemental. Of course they wouldnt be as strong on a blade as farore's or naydra or whatever
Or maybe the goddesses returned them to their original forms after Spirit Tracks and got their loyal sacred creatures the Loftwings from Skyward Sword and Ooca from Twilight Princess to evolve into the new Rito we see today. I mean, I find it difficult to believe the two sky creatures that were closest to the gods were made to hide when they could be doing something more useful like exist alongside the Hylians and Zora as humanoid talking birds who learned to use their wings like human arms. That's an insane idea I have based on what I'm learning about the Zelda franchise as a newcomer into the franchise as a theory video goer instead of a gamer (cause I really don't have a Nintendo Switch or 3DS game, nor have I ever even heard of the franchise until I came across Twilight Princess game footage, the theories, and Andrew Collette's playthrough of Link's Awakening, BOTW, TOTK, and SS), but I feel it would be a viable explanation for why we never see either the Loftwings and Ooca in Tears Of The Kingdom, plus would explain why BOTW's Rito look like Loftwings who learned how to walk talk and use their wings like human arms..😂
@@Aussie.Owlcoholic I love FFXII, so any time someone asks about the songs when I use them, I try to quickly let them know what song it is, lol. Sorry I couldn't get here sooner, but you've got it!
The Sacred Realm being in the depth is a very cool theory. In Skyward Sword the realm where we fight Demise is a seal/ portal within the earth it seems. There we can find him in a sky mirage, with blue skies and clouds. Isn’t that quite significant as one would expect a devil to be in a more hellish ambience? When Link fights him, it shows the resonance of the dimension to the corruption of evil, turning it into a thunderstorm, but it still is rather reminiscent to the depiction of the Sacred Realm rainstorm in the Oot cutscenes. Unlike the Silent Realms, this dimension is accessible with Links whole body and weapons - not just in spirit form. One could say, that the Silent Realms where made by the old gods. Whereas the dimensions of where Demise is, is made by Hylia herself. Or she just sealed him there inside. History repeating, with evil being sealed in a sacred place. It could also be possible, that this place IS the original Sacred Realm from legend, the intersection of where the three golden goddesses departed to the heavens and left the Triforce in their place and Hylia knows about it.
Journey To The Center Of The Earth confirmed? Oh boy, that would be so great! I love that movie, it's one of my favorites from Brendan Fraser. I love having my childhood coming up like this! 😂❤
I love theory videos, and this is a great one!! But a part of me feels as if BOTW & TOTK are just the quintessential zelda games & they decided to not even consider timeline placements whatsoever when they created these games.
What makes the most sense, in my mind, is that there WAS a convergence of these split timelines. And to make this make sense with the depths and everything else we know, I believe the depths to not be the deepest hyrule goes. Rauru's time is still LOOOONG after the previous games in the timeline, so far it's unfathomable, possibly hundreds of thousands of years, because that is at the end of the day what this world is. history repeating forever in different incarnations for the rest of time. Rauru's time, Breath of the wild and ToTK is set so far into the future of skyward sword that those temples are literal dust. you only find giant fossilised remains of the leviathans, we're talking potentially A MILLION years of cycles of death and rebirth. And when it comes to the map, the depths literally give us proof that the geology changes a LOT with how and where there are magma flows and lavafalls
heres the lore in a nutshell (basically cannon lore according to the devs) "its just a fun game, we didnt take into account of the lore until AFTER the games release"
The Zoras is often used as an ace card to prove that breath of the wild isn't simply put at the far end of the adult timeline, but can we really know for sure there aren't any zoras left alive somewhere on the great sea? If one settlement of zora got assisted in their evolultion an another far away tribe had to survive on their own they could theoretically exist in parallel. Also the Zoras in botw have shark or mantaray-like features which are salt water creatures, which could have evolved slowly but surely for a hypothetical disconnected tribe of Zora.
I'm completely opposed to the converging timeline 😅 I'd need to see it before believing it. I'm loving your theory about the Adult Timeline though because you put the effort into it making sense and I respect that but I'll stick with my interpretation of the timeline 😁 can't wait to see more of this though.
The Triforce appearing BotW and TotK can be explained in another way: We assumed is a tangible item, but it might be more like a spiritual concept. What I mean is if the circumstances aligned at the right place and at the right time a powerful person conected to the goddesses like BotW Zelda is capable to summon the Triforce when she needs it the most.
With the depth plants, I think they have more in common with prehistoric plants (like ferns, cycads and lepidodendrons of the Carboniferous period) than aquatic vegetation which fits with the undisturbed, closed off ecosystem vibe of the depths.
The Sheikah Being Present around the time of the Ancient Hero makes me wonder if he's actually Rauru's clone. And if this all indeed takes place (Mainly?) in the adult timeline as you've presented, the Master Sword would be in the head of a suspiciously Demon King-esque statue perched atop a buried tower. Knowing that the master sword would at some point be needed, the ancient Hero, presumably under Sheikah guidance, found it and pulled it. And considering where it was and the purpose it was fulfilling, it would not surprise me at all if Calamity Ganon was unleashed from this very act, thus connecting all of it together.
This is it, I think y’all hit it on the nose. I think y’all did a great job. Someone needs to show this to Nintendo and force them to make this cannon.
I liked Zelda more when it was like what From Software games are today: the developer might have a theory themselves, but there is enough vagueness that the most crucial details are not disclosed to the players, making enough room for fan speculation. If Totk had played its cards better, it would have explained less outright and made more room for lore speculation.
Muy buen video! Sin embargo hasta el momento no he visto ninguna teoría que menciona la grieta en el suelo que abrieron los demonios al inicio de skyward sword. Para mi ese relato tiene mucha conexión con el subsuelo
Honestly this video left me kind of confused. Is the theory that the Depths is the Sacred Realm/Evil Realm post OoT/WW? Or is the theory that the Depths are the remains of the physical, real world kingdom of hyrule that existed in OoT and was covered over by islands and trees post WW? Or somehow both? The Sacred Realm and submerged Hyrule theories seem mutually exclusive to me.
ancient cistern, it all fits, demise coming from hell, evil underground, heck even mortals swallowing the stones to become immortal dragon gods is based on Taoism which is big in Japan
Well, Dragon Breaks can occur as a consequence of gods dying or other extremely powerful magical artifacts. So far we have no idea why the golden goddesses came to this dimension and shaped it for Hylia to watch over the triforce. as far as we know they might be in some sort of conflict above the realm of Hyrule which might have causes the timelines to merge
Dragon Breaks are ES' explanation for conflicting events of history. That's exclusive to ES. It doesn't make every other universe have a version of it. I honestly don't buy the "merge" theory at all as I see no grounds. We have no lore explanation that resembles anything like a "dragon break" so we can't really say it has something like that. In ES, it's a very established fact that it happens, but it's never even hinted to be a thing in Zelda. We've never seen it before and even now we don't have any real evidence towards it, just a bunch of people spreading around a png of the timelines with some added lines as if that makes it more believable
It is really a video of great quality, and greats visuals ! However we have to take into account that in the adult timeline, Ganondorf does not obtain the full triforce, thus the sacred realm does not become evil, it remains an empty dimension without the triforce.
I am afraid this isn't correct. Ocarina of Time already states that the Sacred Realm, outside the Chamber of Sages, has become a realm of evil (the Dark World) even though Ganondorf has only retained the Triforce of Power. It didn't require him to obtain the full Triforce for this to happen. The original lore stated with ALttP was that if anyone touched the Triforce *at all*, the Sacred Realm would act as a mirror that reflected the nature of their heart and change itself. So this is wholly consistent.
I believe that the merging of all the timelines was the goddesses saying “screw y’all” and removing the Triforce because of the people’s obsession with the relic that caused so much destruction. This would explain why the ancient past is out of memory in the current age of Zelda as well as why things look so different. We saw what happened to a world without a Triforce in A Link Between Worlds, and I can see that fate having befallen the Hyrule we play through in BotW and TotK. I know that the Triforce emblem was shown in BotW when Zelda unlocked her powers, but it’s very possible that that was just a symbol that manifested because she was using the power of the gods.
@@DyunduThere are see through parts on that model and TOTK confirms that Zelda's powers are the time and light powers, no Triforce. They had a chance to confirm that and notably chose otherwise. It's time to let that old theory go. We even see her light power create a Triforce Mark on the back of her hand like when she used the sealing power in BOTW
The light power's ability being to cleanse evil seems very similar to how the triforce was used in previous Zelda games. Also Zelda was the Sage of Time both in TOTK and OOT, and in OOT she had at least the Triforce of Wisdom. Also it's Sonia who says that Zelda has the light and time powers. We are never told if Sonia or even (Zonai) Rauru are aware of the Triforce. Rauru's light power could be the triforce, and his ability is seemingly way more powerful than the other sage's abilities too, which can be explained by his coming from the triforce and then amplified by the secret stone. This could also be true without Rauru knowing about the Triforce, as it could've been passed down to him like from him to Zelda over numerous generations.
Very Interesting Theory, so with that being said that would make TOTK and BotW in the Adult timeline? Even if the Current Land has landmarks and areas from all 3 timelines thier could have been Triforce wishes and or Powerful Magic that cause the timelines to somehow Merge.
I have a theory that all zelda games are induvidual peoples re-telling of the real story. Which would explain all the diffrent art styles, and looks and exact location of things. Because its a story re-told
since ocarina of time game caused the split in the timeline, they say convergence happened which leads to BOTW. I would hope maybe a zelda game would have you playthrough that event possibly jumping between timelines or worlds/dimensions with 3 different Links or play as Link , Zelda and Ganon which represent 3 triforce pieces.

What's funny is that Zeldatubers put more time and effort into thinking about the Zelda timeline than the developers do.
They don't even care anymore.
@@nworder4life Tbh its not that important anyway.
Zelda was always about the players journey and not Links journey which sounds weird but is the Truthahn.
@@MegaKBangof course it’s important, a large part of what makes Zelda so investing now more than ever is the lore, not just gameplay
@@MegaKBangits important to me but others might not care
Genuine question, are we sure they ever cared? It honestly feels like they made the timeline more out of obligation than anything else.
@@ceel4223 It being fun and interesting to explore reflects humanities interest in understanding of our foundations.
This theory kind of makes Link’s powers look way more significant seeing that he doesn't actually wield the triforce of courage.
How you gonna hit me in the feels with the snowed Rito Village theme like that... 🥺
Also, you know what's something that really intrigues about the Depths? Those pillars that let you Ascend to the surface!
Why are they located where they are? There's one on each corner of the map, one under Korok Forest...and then several pillars in random locations that, upon closer inspection, actually lead you to vantage points that let you view a Geoglyph...
...but the Geoglyphs shouldn't have been there during the time the Zonai were active to build those pillars...besides, why didn't the Zonai set up the pillars near the abandoned mines, where they would be much more convenient?
Lastly, why is the ambient music that plays near the pillars so creepy?
Now you got me thinking. 🤔
The music gets me every time. These are supposed elevator shafts yet the music is freaky
Damn that’s good
If you remember, Zelda actually was never able to make it to the Spring of Wisdom, the Calamity had struck when she, Link, and the champions were on their way there.
Upon her descent down the mountain she and the Champions witness the awakening of Calamity Ganon."
Please rewatch the memories befor you say something that isn't true :)
@@sundaychickenz5727 No? She went to all springs.
That's not how that works but keep stretching
I feel like Ive been converted to an adult timeline believer now. The items of the other timelines still existing but just underwater really makes sense as well. Majoras Mask for example was still real in the adult timeline it just had a different fate you could say (found and stashed in a chest as a colisseum prize)
Omg i really dont see how this is all three timelimes converged. You can get all the outfits from all three timelines
@@markanthony7191 to get all the outfits from all three timelines there would HAVE to have been a convergence, or else we would only be able to get outfits and gear from ONE of the timelines (unless the outfits and gear from the other timelines were created in the time gap between the last game in the Adult timeline and BotW, which is unlikely based on how the descriptions of the outfits and gear reference the games they're from)
@@Sarah_H no i meant to say that there was a convergance. Botw and totk are all three timelines
People above me are confusing my brain I don’t even understand what they’re saying
Previous Ganon to TOTK Ganon: ‘Yo skellydorf, I’ve kept your seat warm.’
He’d also be in the same place demise came from, demise himself was said to have broken out from the ground
0:42 This rendition of the Dragon Roost Island theme is so beautiful. I would go to Rito Village and just sit there and listen to it.
The Zonai didn't dig, they built normally, at their ground level.
this hyrule being part of the adult timeline due to the great flood makes more sense when u see that hyrule it's self is on it's own plateau
In a link between worlds in the sacred realm, the pillars next to the triforce look like the pillars in the depths in tears of the kingdom.
I was looking for anyone who mentioned this
The whole point of timelines converging is that multiple things that may not be fully congruent come together to form a singular, yet likely forgotten, history
She flies up through those dense clouds beneath you, and they all dissipate so you can see the surface.)
To me it would just make the most sense to have TOTK essentially be the endcaps to the entire series: Sonia and Rauru's time being the beginning, and Link's destruction of Ganondorf being the end.
I'm so happy that I'm not the only one that noticed how similar to undesea plant life the grasses and plants are in The Depths!
11:40 this tiny funny bit caught me so offguard as I was enthralled by this phenomenal theory, I burst out laughing and rewinded 5 times! *Honks horn at you guys*! 😂
the sheer amount of collaboration within the Zelda YT community continues to impress and baffle me
Also imporant point from age of calamity, it was zelda's mom that introduced her to sheikah technology, I know it is another time line set, but is interesting to think about it too.
Also, Malladus is sealed beneath the world in ST. That's one extra Demon King in the evil realm.
Where's Malladus though? We don't see him. Could Ganondorf have mixed him up in his own makeshift magic blender to create Calamity Ganon? I mean, where else could those eyes made from Malice or Gloom come from?
@@dafilmqueen556 Idk, nice thinking!
remember when The goddess hylia cut off skyloft from the ground and sent it skyward?, I think the Golden Goddesses did something very similar during the great flood, what i think is that they cut off areas from the ground like death mountain, Kokiri forest/great deku tree's meadow, gerudo fortress and Kakariko village and sent it skyward above the waves
The islanders only knew rumors of the Triumph Forks. I'm sure they rediscovered the triforce with time though
Great video from 2 great channels when it comes down to al Zelda related theories. Very entertaining to watch, well put together.
Thank you!
These may have been a proto-form of the Secret Stone because they do not seem to have the same level of amplification as the Stones in TotK possess.
a catastrophic event, involving various timelines, that would have likely caused the loss of history and the existence of previous heroes as legend. something like... perhaps, a war? involving time travel and various characters and refugees from different ages?
i blame hyrule warriors for the timeline fusion
Cia is... likely responsible yes.
something about ripping time periods apart and putting them together MIGHT just break a rule somewhere... and the timeline trying to selfcorrect almost breaks, giving us the remnants that exist in the reborn Zonai Rauru's Hyrule
Ganon "could" have been sealed underground.. and also in the sacred realm or just Underground, and I think it was specifically just underground.
that moment when you recognize Final Fantasy (specifically 12) music in a Zelda video
Good video. I myself had much headache trying to put all together when I played it. After all i have seen, I prefer to believe that BotW and TotK both play in a parallel Universe, thus inevitably forming a fourth Timeline.
Contra: there is a fourth timeline
Pro: even though it's actually still way less confusing this way...

The BOTW / TOTK games are about purifying some pure aspect of Ganon’s curse - that Evil that Demise incarnates with him - First they Destroyed the Calamity that had formed from Ganon having such a strong latent evil energy and that was what needed to be cleansed from his spirit so they could even get close enough through the caverns without immediately ☠️ to his Gloom (like trimming thorns to get closer to the root)
Then, TOTK it’s revealed his body is still alive and in stasis, when Zelda went back in time she immediately changed the present bc with her advice they started moving Islands to the sky, and the Temple of Time on the Plateau is just the old one before they learned of Zelda’s warnings so they focused instead on the one they were putting into the sky because that was where Link would end up as Zelda’s failsafe to keep him safe
So with the Malice and Gloom cleansed, they can finally destroy Demise’s curse that is tied to Ganon’s soul -
The “Ancient Hero’s Aspect” has green skin, and is shown in the Ancient Scroll shown in Impa’s house; it was actually the three Goddess’ Champions from their realms (Zelda (Nayru / Sky) (Link (Farore Earth / Connection / the LINK [he’s also us, the player’s Champion and “We” are Farore which is why Link is always empowered since he’s our Champion too]), and finally Ganon who is Din’s champion (and depths / underworld) and they were actually fighting Demise THEN that’s when Demise’s curse started afflicting Ganon and cursed his Evil to always be attached to him.
That’s why Ganon’s body looked like that in the past is because he lived in the depths and watched over it and he followed Demise to the Surface to Stop Him.
Nintendo: Ah, so that's how it all fits together.
I'm not sure why people are surprised by a nation built on top of an old nation, it happens in real life. That's why it's so hard to do archeology in some places, like some of the old Roman towns in Italy. They were literally built over.
I loved the use of FF and KH themes. Great work!
16:55 you can’t convince me it’s not a lightsaber
Bruh if the next Zelda game focuses on the sacred realm and Tri force, it will be soo good
Bit of a nitpick, but The Great Sea in the Wind Waker did not take 1,000’s of years to drain.
It was already split apart.)
I dont think the assumption that the depths is the sacred realm is complete. In the video you seem to bounce between the depths beong old Hyrule or the sacred realm. Is there another depths under the depths? I guess im just a little confused on that part.
Very weel done! I look forward to the next video.
Thanks for the compliments! The area where we drop down to fight Ganondorf's army and then finally Ganondorf himself is the suggested Evil Realm.
@@GossipGeistgotcha that makes more sense

That little edit got a laugh out of me.
Fi probably just needs a couple of new AA batteries, it's about that time, I imagine.
I like that idea except I’m not sure If I’d like to play as furry link considering he is a zonai during that time
The real mystery is how they managed to show you all the depths had to offer in just 5 minutes.
Ah yes, a hyperbolic comment.
Indeed, slightly hyperbolic, but I will say that it would have been nice to get some kind of “eldritch evil” enemies / bosses in the depths.
Why are you playing the music at 18:10 from Bhujerba in Final Fantasy XII?
I really like this theory - on the flipside, I think that the Sacred realm is just really high in the sky. In the same way that you see red particles floating around in the depths, you see blue particles floating around in high altitude low gravity zones (like in the shrine in the Zonai forge island)
NEW GOSSIP GEIST LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You deserve about 200,000 more subscribers. Alas, I can only offer 1.
So it would seem like the Ooca and Loftwings had a Pokemon evolution into our favorite humanoid birdies..😂❤
the depths is 100% old hyrule pre wind waker and the overworld is based on the deku tree's roots
guys check the map with the tears in forgotten temple, hyrule field is implied to be covered in water on that map during the time of making it
The visuals in your video look much better than the switch on my TV.
Thanks for making The Depths even more interesting! Fantastic job as usual!
Good to see you here, man! Thanks for stopping by 😎
I love this theory. It fits so good with what they said about previous Hyrules possibly being destroyed too
What’s the name of the song at 12:06?
@@GossipGeist really I haven't played wind waker in a minute. I'll have to check that out
Super interested in hearing what your thoughts are on who the eighth heroine is after more information was revealed about them in the side quest.
Werent there two species of Zora, River and Ocean? Perhaps only one of them evolved into Rito while the other remained as Zora?
What's the song at 18:10 ? I recognize it but I can't think what it is...
Oh wait, is it from FFXII?
it was indeed, "The Skycity of Bhujerba" Now I just look like an insane person talking to myself. Fun!

It could also be possible, that this place IS the original Sacred Realm from legend, the intersection of where the three golden goddesses departed to the heavens and left the Triforce in their place and Hylia knows about it.
edit: Hylia who sealed Demise there :) just like the sages sealed Ganondorf
What is the name of the Song that's playing when he starts talking about the holy springs?
It's called "Fairy Fountain" from a recomposed album of A Link to the Past. The album's name is "Sound and Drama".
Hollow earth theory comfirmed!
Journey To The Center Of The Earth confirmed? Oh boy, that would be so great! I love that movie, it's one of my favorites from Brendan Fraser. I love having my childhood coming up like this! 😂❤
The sacred realm is the depths, I knew it from the beginning of Tears of the Kingdom
And when it comes to the map, the depths literally give us proof that the geology changes a LOT with how and where there are magma flows and lavafalls
heres the lore in a nutshell (basically cannon lore according to the devs)
"its just a fun game, we didnt take into account of the lore until AFTER the games release"
The Triforce appearing BotW and TotK can be explained in another way:
We assumed is a tangible item, but it might be more like a spiritual concept. What I mean is if the circumstances aligned at the right place and at the right time a powerful person conected to the goddesses like BotW Zelda is capable to summon the Triforce when she needs it the most.
Very interesting information! Thank you
What is Eiichiro Oda's involvement in Zelda? That's so crazy. I didn't know he worked on these games
The master sword was in the forest in totk memories. Nobody could draw it though since there was no hero
Also by rift-in-the-earth: Demise emerges on the Surface and Link travels from Hyrule to Lorule
Where did the artwork at 14:04 come from
Also wondering this
With the depth plants, I think they have more in common with prehistoric plants (like ferns, cycads and lepidodendrons of the Carboniferous period) than aquatic vegetation which fits with the undisturbed, closed off ecosystem vibe of the depths.
Aren’t there ruins from Lon Lon ranch up top? Temple of time… castle town…
Did they just climb out?
I still think we should've gotten a jetpack for link after getting all the shrines.
i haven’t gotten to it in the video yet but i’m guessing the structure of zonaite is a big clue too. i had this idea months ago so let’s see!
The theory is that the depths are old hyrule but the area where you go down to fight the demon kings army / Ganondorf is the Sacred / Evil Realm
ancient cistern, it all fits, demise coming from hell, evil underground, heck even mortals swallowing the stones to become immortal dragon gods is based on Taoism which is big in Japan
Well, Dragon Breaks can occur as a consequence of gods dying or other extremely powerful magical artifacts. So far we have no idea why the golden goddesses came to this dimension and shaped it for Hylia to watch over the triforce. as far as we know they might be in some sort of conflict above the realm of Hyrule which might have causes the timelines to merge
pretty sure dragon breaks are from the elder scrolls.
@@elyonsilvarath6854 pretty sure the elevator doesn't reach the top floor there 🙄
Dragon Breaks are ES' explanation for conflicting events of history.
Look again-the Triforce seen at the end of BotW has a full 3D model. It’s the real deal.
I never understand a thing when Commonwealth Realm speaks... :(
since ocarina of time game caused the split in the timeline, they say convergence happened which leads to BOTW. I would hope maybe a zelda game would have you playthrough that event possibly jumping between timelines or worlds/dimensions with 3 different Links or play as Link , Zelda and Ganon which represent 3 triforce pieces.
