That Kevin is a regular MacGyver! He knows how to think outside the box and in doing so can pass it on to the boy's. The comments tell it all, we had one of those and never thought to modify it like that!!! Kudos to Kevin!!! And thank you Rhonda for all the great info on corn 🌽 and your ability to drive that drone and make all possible. God Bless you for your hard work, He love you and We love you too! What a Beautiful Family 👪 and a Blessing to your Viewers!! Thank you so much and be safe 🙏❤
That brings back a lot of memories for me, we used to pick about a hundred acres of high moisture corn for the cows.. We had a new idea 708 uni harvester, with a four row head.
Thanks for the video.. I still can remember the counts hours of picking corn. My favorite time of the year.. Nothing like the smell of the air of fresh picked corn
Hi 👋 ronda and Kevin that’s awesome video and drone and explain about corn 🌽 Kevin has lots brain storm ideas 💡 smart young man and has wonderful wife support and as always you and your families be safe lots of blessings to you all 🇺🇸🇺🇸
When I was about 12 years old I would help my neighbor with chores and one of those was to put ear corn into a corn "crib". He pulled a one row New Idea with an old H Farmall. Made for a long day but it got the job done. So been there done that. That was about 50 years ago. Slick modification on the picker. That is some good looking corn.
in the early 60s my dad had a new 560 gas tractor with a 2 row mounted picker-when he came home at nite with his eye brows burned off we knew he had a rough day-that thing would catch fire in a heartbeat-chaff and gas fumes dont mix
I love how Kevin and the boys put their brain's together and brainstorm new ideas and make new farm implements. Rhonda also cool how you explained the growing process, and your drone footage is top notch for sure. Another awesome video.
Still have our picker i bought first year out of high school 323 1 row new idea we picked 50 acers every fall first with a allis wd 45 then i bought an allis 180 good seat and power steering dad thougt we won the lottery used 2 flat rack hay wagons with grain sides until uncle got done then used his gravity boxes then i bought our own
The business acumen you guys exhibit in an ever changing market, the engineering and mechanical skills Keven and the boys posses, the hard work the entire family puts in to the homestead, all contribute to a shining example of the American dream at work and foretell of an operation that will become multigenerational. Blessing be on all of you🙏
We still have one small round wire crib and a wooden one. Shoveled the last of what was left of our corn from the old wooden crib earlier this year. Stink’n rats were taking over! Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Definitly old equipment still being used today. Kevin did a good job of explaining the process. We took the chute of our wagons and used a corn rake to get the corn into the grinder. nice video
Rhonda pink is your color. Kevin your corn picker does what you need. It's simple enough you can work on it. It's not self propelled one less engine and transmission to keep up!
One roll at a time. That seems like an eternity when viewing from above. It appears that patience is a virtual necessity in the farming business. That's a trait I sometimes struggle with on a personal level. You two always amaze me by how you go about your business takin' one day at a time and pushing forward with a strategic plan. Have a great week!!
We did ours with the picker mounted on a H. It was what we had but it was really too heavy so we had to go slow over the end rows and not bounce the tractor.
Such a great family and such a smart man ! Kevin I could picture you and the boys on Shark Tank pitching ideas ! God Bless y’all from Texas , and god speed the kids ! Love y’all !!
the markets are nuts, the supply chain is broken, the prices for anything is approaching or exceeding double freed costs, all I can say is thanks JOE. use what ya got and works, now if they don't ruin the cattle market but a few around here shut down and sold off with the drought and with the JOE screwing up things. That's the cleanest I ever told that story, thanks for sharing God Bless ya
Don't see very many corn cribs these days, One person on the wagon shoveling into the crib and one in the crib shoveling it to the back. So much fun when we were kids Really nice video
Enjoy the knowledge that you and Kevin are sharing with us non farmers, it allows me to better understand what it takes to run your farm. Truly a great deal of work and dedication.
I am also running my new idea 1 row picker to pick corn to make dairy feed and was dreaming of a way to eliminate the husking rolls. Now I know !! Thank you so much.
Don't know how I didn't find this one before. You and Kevin are just amazing. He removed the husking bed, Kevin sure is one smart fellow, pretty sure my dad had one with the husking bed still on it. Like Jimmy Jack said, brings back memories. Noticed y'all used a lot courser screen when you ground it. Probably what we should have done. I know we sure used to put a load on that old tractor. Thank you so much Rhonda. 😊
The first farm I worked on had 40 milk cows and 500 sheep. We filled a wooden crib 8×14×60 plus 3 or 4 wire cribs. We ran a 324 New Idea to pick and then we had another 324 with a shelling unit that we shelled corn for the sheep. We used a 4020 diesel power shift to run both pickers. We stored the shell corn in the chopper wagons, gravity wagons and kicker wagons lined with plywood.
That was amazing what Kevin did to renovate that picker, I never have looked close at one before, but I know a lot of common sense engineering went into that, the ground corn should charge up the ration, what a great video, thanks
Corn in our neck of the woods didn't do so well this year here in northern Ohio. One year dad was out picking corn with our single row picker and came upon a stalk that was 15 feet high with three ears. Of course, he pulled it out of the ground and brought it to the house and placed it alongside the garage. It stayed there for about four days. Those New Ideas were pretty popular back in the day.
Nice job on the auger in the husking bed; seems to work fine. My uncle Ed picked our corn with his Farmall M pulling a 2-row New Idea picker in the late '50s. When he traded up to a new Farmall 400, he bought a 2-row mounted unit (probably a 2-MH). I always enjoyed hauling loads of ear corn to the crib with our AC WD-45. Thanks for bringing back so many wonderful farming memories.
My dad told me he used to walk beside a horse drawn wagon and picking the corn by hand in the 1920's . I remember my grandfather having a hand powered sheller I thought was fun in the late '50's early '60's . When I was working for a large custom farmer we used combines so luckily I never had to pick corn by hand unless it was just a little ..
That was an excellent explanation and view on Tar Spot on the corn leaves ....that will give my husband a good idea what to look for in the near future in his corn .
Good morning to the Clay Family... Thank you for Praying for my brother in-law... Dan is doing very well.. Rhonda we can't do anything with God Pray.. And do well in are life... its it fun stuff to shovel or get to flow in agravity box. i remember trying to shovel it out of a forage box that was dumped on the side of the road.no i didnt tip it over.great video .brings back memories
Oh man please look after your safety guys I'm not paranoid but please get some PTO guards on your machines. Over the years there's been some horrific deaths and injuries here in West Wales. Please stay safe you're a wonderful family and ambassadors for agriculture and the family farm.
I remember the day the dealer stopped by our farm pulling a brand new 323 to deliver to our neighbor down the road and my dad asked him if he had another one, he did and dad said he would cut him a check as soon as he could deliver it, that was so cool, one of the best machines we ever bought, dads gone now, I wish I could go back!
Kevin had a hard day's work there, first must be tiring to keep the funnel lined up with the row of corn and then there is a lot of corn to pick up from the ground unloading. Great video, never seen anything like that before. Cheers.
That’s husking better than my bosses 6-row uni-picker! We used to have a Devil of a time just getting wagons unloaded! We also kept plugging the shoots in the crib. He had a wood crib with a roof and storage between the cribs. It had several openings along the peak of the roof and several shoots built between the trusses. If you place the elevator just right, you could fill both sides at the same time.😎
Grinding corn for cows brings back memories 😊
Wow. That vidio. Brought. Back memories. That's how. We. Picked. Corn. In the. 1960s. Ronda. U always. Have. Awesome. Vidios. . thank u. . ur awesome.
God Bless the farmers!
i remember picking corn on the family farm about 50 years ago
I remember picking corn! When the corn is dry it slides out the box a lot easier!
My dad had a 2 row new idea, we pulled it with a 706, I got to run it once!
That Kevin is a regular MacGyver! He knows how to think outside the box and in doing so can pass it on to the boy's. Hello everyone and Mackenzie and especially the moomoos too
This brings back fond memories....I always enjoyed running the 323 picker....
Great idea, Smart Farming cost savings is a good thing.
Farmers are smart Engineers, Welders, Plummer’s, mechanics, environmentalists etc.

Its a rare treat to see these in operation, and clever way to remake it like that, so that its still work :)
Who would have “thunk” Old Relics of the Past still work and are used on the Farm ? Kevin! 😬👍
in the early 60s my dad had a new 560 gas tractor with a 2 row mounted picker-when he came home at nite with his eye brows burned off we knew he had a rough day-that thing would catch fire in a heartbeat-chaff and gas fumes dont mix
Thanks for showing what goes into dairy farming. I in joy watching.
WE LOVE NEW IDEAS :)
I love how Kevin and the boys put their brain's together and brainstorm new ideas and make new farm implements.

Hey Arces of Clay Family!👋 Great drone footage! Hope ya'll have a great week! Be safe and blessed! 😆❤👍
Used to have a rare 3 row new idea. Fun as hell as a kid.
I did that back in the 70s three big round corn cribs
We did too. Had 4 round cribs. You don't see those anymore.
@@greghamann2099 yup now I’m 61 driving truck till they find me dead in the sleeper.
We still have one small round wire crib and a wooden one. Shoveled the last of what was left of our corn from the old wooden crib earlier this year.

Definitly old equipment still being used today. Kevin did a good job of explaining the process. We took the chute of our wagons and used a corn rake to get the corn into the grinder. nice video
The ending made me laugh, tough work on the farm and you got to have a little fun, but it keeps me coming back to watch.
Old school picker
We used to pick corn for hog feed by hand when I was a young teenager. That's been a long time ago. 😁
Rhonda pink is your color. Kevin your corn picker does what you need. It's simple enough you can work on it. It's not self propelled one less engine and transmission to keep up!
Awesome video.
Thanks for the video. Love the older equipment and your modifications
that was a very neat video to watch you pick corn and grind it the cows will enjoy it
Great drone footage!
Hi Rhonda another great video blessings to you and family from New Zealand
That so cool
I think that short day is going to work good for your heifers and the ear corn 🌽 made good feed and thanks Rhonda and Kevin
Thanks. That is so cool!

That's the way we did all our corn in my younger days. We had a 2 row mounted picker on an old Farmall M
We did ours with the picker mounted on a H. It was what we had but it was really too heavy so we had to go slow over the end rows and not bounce the tractor.
Jippii and wow, nice job and awesome video again. More such videos. Greetings from Finland.

Nice looking corn crop like the corn picker setup well done
I remember picking ear corn we had a two row picker we used a hay wagon with side boards and a false end gate
I picked with a New Idea 323 picker for twenty some years.
Always a good watch, you do an excellent job explaining your farming. Thank you. Hope you have a productive season.

Great new about Dan!!
My dad had a one row New Idea picker when he started farming in 1959. Pulled it with a Farmall M. I rode in the trailer catching the ears!
Brings back memories when my sister & I would ride in the bin wagons while dad was picking corn with a New Idea picker.👍
Great video thanks for telling us about each little detail as I learned a lot from you thank you for sharing and your time be blessed enjoy and cant wait for next one
Very interesting machine!!!, greetings from your fan in Argentina!!

Good stuff Ronda, Kevin and Sanders:):)
Simply and efficiently way.

Great Video Ronda, Really love your drone shots on this one and the ones last video were great. Love those shots…. Go Dogs !
Cool video! Nice old corn husker! Very ingenious idea of retrofitting the old worn-out husking bed with an auger! Seemed to work very well.
