  • The livestream failed miserably today. My main internet was down for repairs at the provider level. I tried to make it work but there just wasn't enough bandwidth to make it work so You get this video instead. I'll do this topic again next week on the net and we'll dive in a little deeper.

UDA! Thanks Bro! Mine was out all week in Roger's, Ark. Just got it back today after a week of being disconnected from the grid and from internet. Generator power all week. Dang!

A little confusing with 3 radios, but I understand what you're doing. It's simpler with just one radio, you just put in your radio and then follow the menu to put in what you're trying to do with it and where you're trying to go with it... straight forward. Then once you get connected you usually hear people there talking and see their call signs and see your call sign being displayed. It's pretty cool! I'll have to check you out on your reflector when you're on sometime! My Kenwood has the worst battery life when running D-Star however.

I'm Using a Pi-Star myself. Duplex mode. Well Not really Pi-star, but WPSD software on it.

Should work the same for an Openspot 3, correct?

An OpenSpot3 can cross mode anything and so can the OpenSpot4 PRO. BUT the OpenSpot4 Standard (cheaper version) can't do D-Star cross mode as it doesn't have the HW AMBE chip needed to do the cross mode. They can all do DMR YSF and visa-versa just fine. I have an OpenSpot3 and a bunch of homebrew Pi-Star's running the WPSD Dashboard (from W0CHP) it can also do cross mode but like the OpenSpot4 Standard it can't do D-Star cross mode unless using a USB dongle like an DV3000 (just like DV switch for that matter).

Does it matter what talk group a dmr radio is on when cross modeing?

Not at all. The hotspot fools the radio into thinking its a fusion or Dstar radio.
