Texas Longhorn Arms used to make a front sight that was shaped in similar fashion. I send my Rugers over to Bobby Tyler and have the front ramp replaced with a Freedom Arms style interchangeable base and I have Fermin Garza make me a gold bead blade after I file a blank to just the right height.

I just got a .357 Mag 1964 vintage 3-screw with 6.5" barrel and I love it. The only thing is that the rear sight must be screwed completely down to it's lowest position to shoot standard 158 Grain factory loads to point of aim at 20 yards. And even then, its still a tad high. I wish I could just drift a pin out and install a slightly higher front blade but... nope. I am not going to modify the front sight. What I am going to do is see if I can load some peppy 158 grain lswc loads that print a bit lower. Shouldn't be too hard to do given that the Magtech loads I shot are probably not any where near full power and so I can get some to exit the barrel a little before they did and print lower. Or that's my plan anyway. Thanks for the vid! I did have an old Blackhawk 44 that had been shortened to 5" that I had to do some front sight work on. I ordered a replacement sight and drilled and tapped the barrel to mount it. Worked great. I wish I hadn't of let that get away from me....

I'm one of those old school gunsmiths that retired 25 years ago. I used to cut the blade off and mill an inline slot in the sight base. Then mill two or three sight blades like square or hawkbill and maybe a brass bead inset. All the blades could be interchanged, and held in place by a rollpin. My old customers loved it. That was a $75 job with an average one week turnaround. Without a milling machine and experience this would be close to impossible to do in someone's garage or kitchen table. 😏

Then i thought maybe i could just solder a little square of brass to it instead. Still thinking about it. Haven't quite worked out how to do it yet.

Great job 😎👌
Thanks!
I think it looks good dude 🇺🇸
@@Revolverguy38 Much appreciated 🍻
Nice work
Thanks

@@billarmstrong1250 Now THAT would be classy 🤠🍻
Fermin Garza puts his brass beads in by tapping the hole and threading it in.
Yep. He's on my short list of folks to deal with
Great job............... may steal it.
Nice work.
@@Who-ry8of Thank you, much 🍻
NICE JOB PLOWBOY!!!
Thank you 👍
Great
@@KennyWhite-r4j Thank you.
OC'ING is the way forward 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
It's my way.
You can plow the fields with that thing now ;)
...and see the plow a little bit better.
Excellent. Plain vertical blade is best IMHO. S&W has made some revolvers with a plain blade and I could hit best with them.
Yep. I would have preferred that.
The front sight on my Charter arms classic bulldog is shaped like this.
@@JH-kc9tm 🤠👍
Like it.
Thank you
I like the front ramp as it is because it’s not a snag point when drawing from gunleather. Your front sight looks like a target style. Fine for the range but could get caught and get ya killed under stress. But then again I don’t just hunt or target shoot my sixguns, I pack them for defense.
I tote this gun nearly every day...and it's not snagging or dragging from my Triple K 440.
I like it as far as target shooting goes, but it looks like it could snag easily in a defensive situation.
@@RickNethery It's not snagging in my Triple K Lightning 440.
Another great video!
I hear that Gallagher's son still has that shop open. I may be incorrect however
I saw some of his stuff on FB, but it looked like nearly all rifles .
Open carry is the way forward
It's my way, during the warm months.
If you're happy with it, that's all that counts.
@@montyherren26 Yep
I use leather pads to hold my guns in a vise!
I didn't have enough leather...or that's what I would have used, too 🍻
My eyes are 75 years old and when I was young they were 20/15 pretty much read a book from 4' away eyes. Now? sadly I need glasses. this was a real bummer for me but I am fortunate that corrected they are still 20/20 Not great like 20/15 but serviceable Iron sight guy here. so peep sights on rifles and patridge on handguns.
Noticed your trig guard is round. The Blackhawk has a square back on it and it tears up the finger. Are you in Ga. Thanks.
@@crawwwfishh3284 The std. Blackhawk has a round trigger guard. The blued Super Blackhawk has that square back Dragoon trigger guard...and I don't like those.

Since its a carry gun. My one ? Is with it square off. Does it grab in the holster?
If you can use it better with your eyes grate and it looks good.
It's not snagging my holster. Thanks 👍
@@plowboysghost good.
It would suck that a good sight pic would/ could hang up your draw.

🤠👍
I have the same problem can't see shit unless I step in it then I smell it😮
@@MichaelHayes-uj9od 🤣👍
I’m about to order a Blackhawk in 41 mag. I’ve never owned one, can you load six safely or do I need to carry 5 like SAA clones ?
If it's a transfer bar gun, you can load six, safely...without worry.
Hello buddy
Hello
As for the sight a man could drill a small hole and take a b b and poxy it in. Might work then again if the dog hadn’t stopped to 💩💩 he might caught the rabbit. 💥💥💥💥
.. a BB might be the ticket 👍
@@plowboysghost Yes sir or a smaller bead from like a bearing. I’m looking forward to seeing it. Good luck hoss.
