As a young man I have been saying exactly this for years. When I think of my country, Britain, nothing comes to mind. It has just become a bland, miserable, and lifeless gray stew that is wholly indiscernible. Most of this hinges on the mass immigration and the massive cultural shifts that has brought, alongside the ever increasing tyranny of the government. Sharon Osbourne, believe it or not, said it best when she said, 'Britain has lost it's warmth and quaintness', that sums it all up really, and it's a tragedy.
I miss the elegance of queue, the dignity of the restaurant, the vivacious support of cricket, the sobriety of a pub, the exuberance of a picnic, the freedom of HydePark corner, the respect for time place and property, the Sunday bell ringing, the respect for a Boby.
We are doomed to lose these things forever. The future is the joyless gleam of Dubai for the minority and the slums of Caracas for the vast, vast majority. 😢
@@fozzilla123 it's not the colour, it's the culture. It's the people's shared values, accepted behaviours and sense of identity. "Culture" is just a proxy for the people themselves. "Britain's vanishing _culture"_ is just a euphemism for the fact that the British people are being defined out of existence and bred out of their lands.
@A M Shame you can’t respond to Shawn Patrick O’Jameson’s point regarding your “How ironic” comment. Exposes how uneducated and ignorant your thoughts are.
I was born in Britain but emigrated as a child and I’m so sad to see what is happening there. When I first visited Britain in the 90s there was a strong and rich culture that the locals were obviously very proud of. Since then it seems the indigenous British culture has been changed by multiculturalism and Brits are forbidden from speaking about it or from showing any patriotism to the original national identity. 😢😢😢🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I can also see the decline since the 90s but most can not, it seems culture is being destroyed by some sort of very rich and powerful elite and the politicians and media tag along maybe they are part of the problem.
The same here in Germany. The EU as part of the global "deep state" wants to destroy national identity everywhere. The ultimate goal is a world wide global communism where all people (without origin) are equal (poor). Just some people will be more equal then others. It´s the new world order, but the "elite will fail with their plans to destroy Europe. Brexit is a first step, hopefully other EU-countries will follow.
I don't think it is quite as bad as it appears from the outside. London and a few other areas have changed significantly but most places haven't, and the tide is turning and there is hope for the future.
I agree. It seems to have taken two stages. 'Old Britain' which I knew as a child, seemed to disappear in the 1960s, and if one wants a year, 1965, the year Churchill died and when 'modernisation' was really coming in; after that, 'casual' seemed to become the norm; our wonderful railway system decimated. The CofE was still strong and still providing its benign influence, and it is remarkable how much it has declined in significance in only the last twenty years. Since then, it has been slowly eroded, but another defining year was 1999, when the House of Lords ceased to have 'real lords' (well, it still has a few, I know) and Blair had recently dispensed with the Royal Yacht, which was the most potent symbol of Britain worldwide and could easily have paid its way through charters, which were just becoming popular.
I left the UK for France 13 years ago. It's quite apparent that life in the UK has deteriorated significantly over the last few decades. The soul has left the country. Our young are being taught to despise our culture, history and race. Sick.
Spot on. We left the UK after Blair got power and thought of going back recently. Brits desperately need some patriots in parliament somewhat like Le Pens party. Can it happen though.
"The coarsening of culture" - really sums up quite a lot, in a very few words. I also liked how Theodore picked up on the current fad of self-expression - 'letting it all hang out' so to speak. As if it is some cure-all for what ails you when in most cases it is just narcissistic drivel or an excuse to behave badly. "Politics is the new religion" - which is why some people get worked up into such a lather about it - to the extent that Remainers are quite prepared to sacrifice democracy in order to kill Brexit off.

Fantastic. I absolutely love Theodore Dalrymple. I miss his column in the Spectator so much. Peter, you consistently have all my favourite people on your channel. Thank you so much.
When are we going to start, who's prepared to lead and what is the best way to go about reversing this population replacement agenda? That's all I'm concerned with as everything else pales into insignificance in comparison.
@Bear hn depends on what side your looking at it from. For most, non assimilation is definitely not a plus. Only for those who hate their own people, and culture. If those coming in who refuse to assimilate bring with them a culture that is backward, to the point that the advances made by your own culture will be destroyed, and society will go back to the brutal, and short life of the past, it is not a good thing
@Bear hn I don't know if I'm misunderstanding you, or if you are misunderstanding me. Are you a Brit or not? If not, get the hell out of Britain if you don't want to assimilate, and if you are, you misunderstand what I'm saying, and I misunderstood you.
@Bear "Only a fool would mix themselves out of existence and destroy their unique heritage and identity" Yep. The elites wish for more fools but its not happening. Walk around mixed neighborhoods you'll see people paired off with their own kind. The mixed exceptions tend to be victims of circumstance.
Yes, we're among the coarser peoples of Europe, and being working class I can say that whilst we're coarse in many ways, we're unpretentious and take people at face value. Britain needs a cultural renaissance, brexit itself is important but just one part of what Britain needs. We need a fully fledged cultural revival, and we need to rub the noses of the left in it!
Jack Doe But if you take people at face value, you are rather pretentious towards them. Someone who is coarse just blunders on. The chap interviewed here has noted a coarseness in society: that includes coarseness in high as well as low society, as it were. Somewhere in the interview, he mentions hearing "fuck" every ten minutes when out and about. It was not that long ago when children, even in working-class areas, let me rephrase, including children in working-class areas of Britain, were heard to say, on hearing a foul-mouthed utterance, "Mummy, that man said a bad word." Aspects of British culture are further slung down the drain in the name of political-point scoring and modernity. The right is as bad as the left in that. Not even the right has faith in traditional British customs and values. They don't know what they are. Don't they know how their great-grand-parents lived? They, who went to church and enjoyed a dance?
Great interview Peter, thanks. I'm not sure, however, that Theodore's admiration for the 'bohemian' is entirely consistent with his bemoaning the 'coarsening' of our society. Most bohemian behaviours could be considered as 'coarse' when practiced by the masses rather than a few eccentric individuals. In a similar way to that in which motoring and foreign holidays have only become problematic environmentally now that they are activities pursued by the masses.
It's very refreshing to listen to wise mild mannered people speaking sense in these juvenile times. It's as if you are with this Gentleman observing over a herd of sheep conditioned with modern hysteria.
Mr Dalrymple's points on the coarseness of the UK is very true, the saddest of this is the architecture of the 60's and 70's, also his comments on tattoos, now it's piercings it's not enough to get your ears pierced.
Apparently, you are supposed to see beyond the piercings to the person, and you're failure to do that is an indictment on your perception of others without prejudice. What it actually is is a deliberate creation of a barrier in a perverse attempt to claim moral superiority by a subcultural 'rebel' who sees appearance as rebellion. All comes from the 'punk' subculture, which was foolishly regarded as an artistically and culturally 'progressive' movement when it was no more than the an inarticulate expression of rebellion akin to that of a 5 yr old 'naughty' child. Major factor in present day 'attitude' - it's all about attitude, nothing else - of those brainwashed narcissists who identify as 'students'.
@@pearlygeoff1789 - it is a form of Narcissism which is a personality disorder. Unfortunately, that particular disorder lives in the same folder as Sociopath an Psychopath. Known in the politically correct universe as 'anti-social behaviour.'
I so admire Theodore Dalrymple! I read life at the bottom, with a dictionary at my side, and it opened my eyes to how this culture gravitates to the lowest common denominator. Prior to the late 60s it seems everyone wanted to aspire to do and be better, but now even the rich seem to want to go low and common.
How on earth could anybody imagine to be able to preserve a British - or any other European - culture when you flood it with foreign incompatible cultures??
@Joel Harvey A few immigrants every year is fine and perhaps even desirable but it should always be in almost unnoticeable (assimilable) numbers, and yes, what's been going on in the west is entirely the fault of unwise progressive types and I would argue weak conservatives..
@Joel Harvey I thought I did answer.. But expanding I generally think it's unlikely to disrupt/weaken a culture more than with large immigration, but of course that disruption is less with more like minded cultures (like Germans) or more quite cultures (like east asians) shall we say - but yes, very large numbers of Chinese, Japanese, Indians or Polish immigrants would also by definition be a weakening of the original culture, obviously, while a small number getting assimilated as they come could be a blessing. Some think that this (a fast diminishing original - European - culture) will be a benefit for society in the long run, but I think it will lead to Balkanization and war.
The destruction of English culture is basically about race. If you see no problem when all of the major cities comprise a white MINORITY population then all is well. If you see that as a form of destruction then all is NOT well, As members of the EU we trade at a massive financial disadvantage and have to pay a large fee to do it !
Taking it further, it's all about replacing the UK population with a cheap, low skilled, compliant immigrant option to ensure the profits of big business increase endlessly.
Captain Dallas Wow. Your are in for a very rude awakening young one. What are you gonnna do when Englands majority population is Muslim? That's due to happen within just a few decades.q

Having lived abroad for a number of years, I have returned to the North of England. I must say, that I agree about the coarsening of language but I do see alot of courtesy in working class people...not the underclass subculture, I hasten to add! I agree that the Church is beginning to be the place where decency and community still exists. I urge anyone reading this, to go to one... Just at the end of your street, it doesn't need to be a huge gathering. Do pray and ask God the Father to show you that Jesus is alive. He is the only sinless man who lived a perfect life and gave it up, taking a horrible crucifixion death in our place. He rose from the dead on the third day, defeating death and He ascended to heaven in front of 500 witnesses who went out and completely changed the world. So Jesus is the Hope of all nations. This lovely man needs that hope as do we all Love in Jesus Name
Denise Bond that’s simply because Christians stopped using them to worship in. Same here in Quebec, churches closing every week and mosques being opened.
“The underclass subculture” don’t you mean other people sharing a community who might not adopt the same values as yourself? I’m sure your Jesus wouldn’t have made the same distinction.... too many Christians and not enough Christ like people 😜
When Dr Dalrymple says that many have lost “The ability to put ones own suffering in perspective” I recognize it as part of the prevalent narcissistic mindset that focuses exclusively on self and lacks any perspective or empathy for others. Christianity focuses us on our neighbour and encourages self-forgetfulness, I’d recommend it.

What a thought-provoking, interesting, articulate and powerful interview. How sad that we never hear such things on prime-time radio or TV. I am so glad that I stumbled across it. At the same time, it made me sad to realise that I've lived through a political, social and educational malaise that has so terribly undermined and changed the values and behaviours of the British nation.
Most definitely the loss of Christian values is the core issue when one contemplates the degradation seen in Western society. It goes hand in hand with the loss of self worth & dignity.
When you talk about Christian values, are you referring to: * Burning heretics at the stakes because they refuse to agree with Christians? * Burning witches at the stakes? * Christians killing other Christians all in the name of their invisible God during many religious wars that bedevilled Europe for centuries? How are the Catholics and Protestants getting on with each other in Northern Ireland? How is sectarianism going in Scotland? * Slavery? Is this a demonstration of Christian motto of loving thy neighbour as thyself?

We are now celebrating and creating 'mental health' issues on an industrial scale......the Royal Family are at it, there are obscene ads where 'celebrities' hold up placards telling us to talk to each other as a preventative against it.....kids are encouraged to view any emotion as 'stress' when some of it is excitement, apprehension, nerves etc. We are creating all these misery roles for people to step into......just as in the war we had hero roles for people to aspire to. Our welfare state rewards people who keep making mistakes or behave in profligate ways, there is no longer any incentive to be respectable. To have a culture requires people to maintain it. British culture imports people instead of producing them, hence it will likely change over time. The cause is women chasing careers instead of raising large families. It is a woman's right to do this and thus the change is likely to continue.
Top-down autocrats imported the people. No one ever agreed to it. No one ever asked the public. The "culture" won't change, it's just the indigenous ethnic population will be replaced by invaders if nothing is done and Britain will be no more.
@@warpsneed9338. The politicians were voted in by the British electorate. They made no secret of their policy, which has the approval of the majority of "indigenous". Even with a policy change, UK fertility is below replacement level, so without the imports the population declines to the point where the country is unable to function and would be taken over by an outside power. The elites need to maintain a competitive population size. There have been 8 million+ abortions since the 60s, the culture is women choosing to restrict their offspring to below replacement level. In the past British women had a higher fertility rate because they had to marry and produce children to access resources. Now women can access jobs and/or welfare, so they no longer need to be part of a family to survive.
@@pigeonhead6287 Here is the problem with your theory: We are being taken over by an outside power as-is. These people are not us. Importing foreign people who are not us will result in a country not us. Not British. I can tell by the air quotes on the word indigenous you have contempt for us, though. Good job. Also, none of these people being brought in are what you call competitive. They are third world people who cannot build functioning countries and generations on bring their dysfunction with them, which is tied to their evolved biology. The idea that voting in someone gives them a mandate to do whatever it is they want is ludicrous. You don't get to exterminate the people who voted you in just because they voted you in with hopes you'd do something in their actual interest. Would our fertility rates be this low if we didn't have this massive burden of third world people that have to be supported with redistributed wealth from us to them? Probably not.

I have to agree with this man. Britain used to be lauded for its self restraint, politeness and pragmatism. Pragmatism especially allowed people with different views to get along with each other with respect and pleasant discourse. You could have a debate or discussion followed by a cup of tea and a handshake and everybody felt valued and part of the "process". There was no need for "latin" temper and loudness. There was no need for middle eastern barbarity and fundamentalism. This is why so many of the world's population, during the last century, looked up to Britain as the epitome and benchmark of a civilised, safe and well behaved society. In just one generation all of these traits have mostly disappeared from British culture. We now have young women vomiting in the streets on a Friday night, young men with a total disrespect for authority, teachers and their parents, drug culture on the rise, the highest incidence of teenage pregnancies in Europe, and a youth that no longer cares or respects hard work, discipline, self improvement, learning or community. This sort of behaviour happens nowhere else in Europe. Generally there seems to be a dignity and self respect in European young people that no longer exists in the UK. Our youth are running amok and they wear their antisocial behaviour as a badge of notoriety. It seems their only ambition is to be on the banal and trivial X-factor, and other programmes like this, driven by fawning and massively undereducated parents who think their fat, pimply, moronic spawn are hugely talented. Or they want a great well-paid job doing "something" that makes them feel special, even though they have no experience. This attitude of selfish and boorish entitlement didn't exist 30 years ago. As an immigrant to this country, I made the decision to come to Britain 30 years ago because of the respect and delight I had for this countries modest and low-key natives and institutions - and its respect for the rule of law. 30 years on and I find it staggering how a country can devolve from such a respected place in the world to an almost third world, uneducated, anti-intellectual, violent and narcissistic tribal society that truly cares about no one. On a personal level I now feel afraid to live in the country I once loved. With a total lack of community interaction and care, with increasing violence, knife crime, a polarised population and a politicised police force, I think it's time to leave the inmates in charge of the madhouse and uproot for rural France or Australia where there are people who care about their communities, respect good common sense values and live a larger life based on looking outwards to help those around them and behave in an unpretentious, dignified, humble and life affirming way.
I am an ( immigrant ) admirer of traditional British values, which is why I came to the UK. I cannot describe how depressing to see everything crumpling before my eyes and it all happened in three or four decades. Successive governments, the BBC and the MSM and education are to blame for ruining the British values. I have nothing against tattoos but the fact that it suddenly became so widespread indicate an underlying problem in the western societies in general, ditto the obsession with pets ( I am an animal lover) especially when associated with decline of the very important institution of the family and raising children. In my view, a civilisation ceases to be so once it leads to its own destruction
and more to this strange breed of folks: Mr. Dalrymple, a man of great culture and kindness undoubtedly, makes me remember Nigel Lawson, Thatcher's ex chancellor: perfect gentlemen, protectors of Britishness and the independence and purity of those islands....from the prairies of Provence, or the streets of Paris. It must be nostalgia.
It should be clear to all that Britain has lost far more than it has gained with its immigration/assimilation and liberality policies, much like the USA, since the 1960s.

A lot of good points: - Politics or 'saving the planet' to give life meaning in place of seeking God - Involuntary bad traits in place of individual responsibility & the struggle against those failings - Focus on self & your sensitivities & emotions instead of putting others first Are we missing the underpinnings of Christianity 🤔 -
You can be thoughtful and spiritual without an outside religion. You can be in touch with your own feelings, self-awareness and needs etc, without being selfish. The better you look after yourself , the better you are able to help others. The more you have , the more you can give. It is all to do with each individuals consciences.
You missed out mentioning a few other fantastic Christian underpinnings such as: - Burining heretics at the stakes because they do not agree with everything Christians believe in. - Burning witches at the stakes. Sheer Christian evilness. - Slavery. The Bible approved of it, so God must be on the side of the slave owners, Crack that whip harder. How else are we going to civilise them? I went to Rome a few years ago. There was a game of soccer between Scotland and Italy, which the Italians won, by the way. The streets of Rome were spotted with the vomit of too-drunk Scotsmen who could not hold their liquor. It was revolting. So I can confirm that what Dalrymple observes about British behaviour abroad is true. I would not have believed it unless I had seen it, and smelled it. All this was thought completely normal by the Scotch with whom I spoke. Dalrymple is one of my heroes for his insistence on truth.

Thanks Theodore at least BREXIT gives us a window of hope! As a proud British woman I am a total supporter of our origins of culture. Just ask Jeremy Corbyn one question, "Do you love this country?" I am 99% sure of his answer would be negative. Now is the hour to save our culture and take pride in doing so.
Interesting conversation, but this question of atheism keeps appearing. If there is no Creator, there is no purpose, and no meaning. We are just very complex, accidental machines. We can make judgements about what is good, or what is coarse, but at the back of it we know it is just a construction to trick our brains and keep us happy. But if we discover values which somehow go beyond ourselves, then we have admitted there is some kind of universal truth.
The problem with scientists, is they will only accept what they can see or prove physically. The word faith is foreign to them with regards to anything. Ive never seen or touched 50 billion quid nor met anyone who has, yet im sure it exists. Scientist dont understand nor can they explain how and why we have the consciousness that we do or for what reason... yet it exists. Im not a full on believer but do believe something bigger than us is available to each of us if we werent all so self absorbed. Dr Jordon Peterson articulates this brilliantly on many youtube videos.
Britain's Culture and Character has been destroyed by the Scum EU. it's a disgrace and it's so sad that the Britain I grew up in , in the 60's and 70's is getting worse so we must do something about it and we need to get out of the horrible EU as soon as possible.

The comments about perpetual adolescence is spot-on. If one looked at pictures from the past (before the 1960s), one saw young people trying to dress like their elders, since there was the recognition that growing up and assuming adult responsibilities was inevitable, if not desirable.
I lived next to a pub for forty years and I can chart the growth of coarseness just by listening to the clientele ..and it started with the selfishness of the 1980’s.
Big fan of Theodore Dalrymple. Sort of an easy addition to the Sir Roger Scrutons in my life. My ears pricked up at that mention of the short tour beginning in Shropshire, gathering reading material along the way. Would dearly love to do something like that. Not much to add here at the moment, other than that lovely bit about tattoos reflecting the eternal "now" in a person's life. And the curious bit about how poor people in Africa dress upwards (or attempt to in the best way they can) while the pampered youth of the affluent west dress down, in some vague style consciousness of solidarity. Captured again, eternally in adolescence. I would think that most intelligent adults look back on their adolescence as something they're very glad to have gotten past and survived, relatively intact. One can signal, out in the public realm, the fact that they have indeed, attained the stylistic trimmings and trappings of adulthood. Without submitting to that awful tyranny of coolness. (Which never actually did have anything whatsoever to do with how one dressed, by the way.) It is a thing requiring rather a bit more depth than that. I recall reading copiously about Jack London's dabble with Bohemian folly and fashion back just slightly after 1900. Hideous stuff. I can only offer prayers of thanks to the literary gods that this dabbling did not at all infect his literary abilities. (The Iron Heel notwithstanding.) Well I guess I did have a thing or two to add, after all. Yes indeed, culture and character is vanishing all over the place. It is bad enough discovering its departure. It is absolutely deplorable, encountering what it is that is rushing in to replace it.
what i think is a shame is that there is a whole strata of older people , usually i suspect the less financially stable ones like wot i am, who are just waiting for death...we've been made to fear everything by the government and tv, we have become steadily poorer over the last 20 years, and the high street is a shitty conglomerate of languages , beggers and kids with knives. I hear so many people saying 'i cant wait to go and leave this shitty place behind'
Saw the Lawrence Fox interview, just brilliant! New sub. As an ex Pat I'm glad people are fighting back again the "woke" culture and disappearance of Great Britain.
I don't think people wear torn jeans to show their solidarity towards poor people. In fact, if you asked someone why they wear torn jeans, they probably wouldn't be able to tell you exactly. You'd just get a shrug and a mumble that 'they're alright' or something. And it's this type of indifference that is another contributor to the erosion of culture.
My Spanish wife arrived thirty five years ago and one of her first impressions was the extraordinary politeness of the British compared with her homeland. Now she is convinced that the British have become uniquely amongst foreign visitors the most thuggish, disrespectful, and rude people to visit Spain.
@@sticksman1979 No, she lived in England for 25 years until we decided to up sticks and move to Spain. I think it's the influence of alcohol that turns Brits a bit doolally when they go on holiday and let their hair down.
Well, that was utterly delightful and thought provoking. I assure you the coarsening sadly has happened here in the United States as well. But all is not lost... yet...
I feel the same about torn jeans, it's a status symbol apparently, to dress poor when you're wealthy, but not so much if you actually are poor... The other day I saw a very chubby girl in ripped jeans, rips every few inches down the length of the leg....reminded me of a joint of brisket tied up with string......
Thank you NCF for another rexcellent edition. Especially pleased to see Anthony Daniels (or Theodore Dalrymple) whose work really deserves a greater audience than it seemingly has.
When i was growing up there were clothes for each age group, a 50 year old didn't dress like a 20 year old, but now there is no choice, they just don't make clothes for those who want to dress for their age.
Thanks to a Scottish expat surgeon friend in my little American town, I became a Theodore Dalrymple fan more than thirty years ago, yet I was surprised to learn that he was an atheist, although not a militant one. This has been exactly my path; as I have watched America's culture slide in parallel with Britain's, I could not help noticing that only the religious seemed to be preserving some kind of civility. Interestingly, by invitation I too attended a local Pentecostal church for a short time. While the speaking-in-tongues and demonstrative behavior was not for me, I was also impressed by these people's goodness and sincerity - and in particular how thoroughly integrated were the blacks and whites in this deeply southern town. To my British friends - even those I do not know. Please, please fight for your culture and your identity. I have watched in horror as the Social Justice Warriors have with great success systematically endeavoured to subvert the nation that civilized the world. I refused to attend my stepdaughter's wedding in London, and I don't ever intend to be there again until civilization regains control from the invading hordes.

It was not that long ago when children, even in working-class areas, let me rephrase, including children in working-class areas of Britain, were heard to say, on hearing a foul-mouthed utterance, "Mummy, that man said a bad word."
Aspects of British culture are further slung down the drain in the name of political-point scoring and modernity.

I agree. On tattoos and especially piercing ones body, there may also be an indication of personality disorder.

The idea that voting in someone gives them a mandate to do whatever it is they want is ludicrous. You don't get to exterminate the people who voted you in just because they voted you in with hopes you'd do something in their actual interest.

Ahhh finally, someone has finally remembered Mary Whitehouse. I give the British army 10 years as the new guard inevitably take over its ranks.
I was one who laughed at her, but now I realise how right she was.
I loved Theodore Dalrymple's column in the New Statesman, years ago. If you're interviewing him, you've got to get Jonathan Meades on the show.
My favourite channel. Thankyou
Theodore Dalrymple is a fantastic writer. Entertaining, funny and educational with wisdom throughout. Have around 4-5 books, all which I have read. Looking for more.
Very good interview. I enjoy many of the interviews "So What You're Saying Is" and this is one of the best. Thank you!
Why is it so difficult for the modern intellectual to have faith in God. I do think they must take their own share in the moral decline of the west.
So true. The hubris of assuming all is known and all is rational is mad. But it's all there is now - Dawkins etc. And of course we are invaded by people that do know there is a God.
I am a Yankee, but the internet has brought me much more aware of and closer to my British cultural roots. I'm so glad we have access to such amazing thinkers and cultural analysts as Dalrymple, Scruton, and Douglas Murray.
Thank you Britain for giving us 500 years of writers, thinkers, scientists, and enlightenment. Let's not allow the post-modernists to strip that away from us, but let us defend it tenaciously.
Cringe.
Douglas Murray is a Zionists shill
“When you don’t believe in God, you’ll believe in anything.”
Yeah like reason and rationality. You need to read more books esp re enlightenment.

@@oinkooink oh the ol' it's not to be meant to be understood literally chestnut. So tell me Fred Astaire is the bible s reference to earth being created in 6 days, dudes living inside a whale for 3 days, people turning into statues of salt, parting seas, zoo boats, floods sheltering 8 millions pairs of animal kinds and Palestinian zombies .. also not supposed to be literal or is it when you put on your dancing shoes and tap dance your way out of it?
To think that adults living in the 21st century with the world s knowledge at the click of button still believe in such bullshit is beyond belief.
' Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities' - Voltaire
Excellent thank you. Have just ordered a couple of Mr Dalrymple's books.
People, look up from your phone's & observe your surroundings.
About time. We don't see enough of this man.
and more to this strange breed of folks: Mr.
Great series. That was a real interesting conversation.
It should be clear to all that Britain has lost far more than it has gained with its immigration/assimilation and liberality policies, much like the USA, since the 1960s.
A fabulous discussion ..Such sense spoken at last *
It’s so sad what’s happening to England and most other countries in Western Europe 😥
We will build something new. They can have the buildings, they can have the wealth. My people mean more than towers of stone.
it is so true, we have lost all the real characters we used to have across all our industries and we are poorer for it, we are now inundated by plastics in both packaging and people
A lot of good points:
- Politics or 'saving the planet' to give life meaning in place of seeking God
- Involuntary bad traits in place of individual responsibility & the struggle against those failings
- Focus on self & your sensitivities & emotions instead of putting others first
Are we missing the underpinnings of Christianity 🤔
-
You can be thoughtful and spiritual without an outside religion. You can be in touch with your own feelings, self-awareness and needs etc, without being selfish. The better you look after yourself , the better you are able to help others. The more you have , the more you can give. It is all to do with each individuals consciences.
You missed out mentioning a few other fantastic Christian underpinnings such as:
- Burining heretics at the stakes because they do not agree with everything Christians believe in.
- Burning witches at the stakes. Sheer Christian evilness.
- Slavery. The Bible approved of it, so God must be on the side of the slave owners, Crack that whip harder. How else are we going to civilise them? Christian sure did put others first.
Another great chat. I have a tattoo on my forearm with the name of my wife who died early in 2018. I did it not to be part of a tribe but so she would always be with me. I know its silly but it means a lot to me.
Stuff like that actually mean something though, nothing wrong with that one.
It's absolutely criminal what has happened and it began with the BLAIR creature
Does anyone remember the election campaign back in 1997, Tony Blair was portrayed as a devil with red eyes by the conservatives. How prophetic. Stout oak and a strong rope.
Yes it was a great description
Frank Szanto. Oh! for goodness sake. Some of the most intelligent people in the past are scientist and they have never believed.
@@iap-ug3oy ALL the early great scientists were believers and MOST were even monks!
Britain's Culture and Character has been destroyed by the Scum EU. it's a disgrace and it's so sad that the Britain I grew up in , in the 60's and 70's is getting worse so we must do something about it and we need to get out of the horrible EU as soon as possible.
It's not just British culture that's being slaughtered, its whole of the western cultures
Encountered Mr Dalrymple about a dozen years ago when I still identified as a liberal and the political and philosophical and cultural contradictions and absurdities that have since come to light and forced me to become an independent were merely a vague intuition, a gut feeling. Bravo for having him on
This is a great insight into whats going on here now in 2019 Britain. Well said
What an impressive and fascinating man
Culture is an agreement amongst everyone.
Brilliant author! Great guest
I have found Christians to be the most content.
The comments about perpetual adolescence is spot-on. If one looked at pictures from the past (before the 1960s), one saw young people trying to dress like their elders, since there was the recognition that growing up and assuming adult responsibilities was inevitable, if not desirable.
It’s sad that the majority of people in this vapid culture will or would never watch this.
I lived next to a pub for forty years and I can chart the growth of coarseness just by listening to the clientele ..and it started with the selfishness of the 1980’s.
Seems like a very nice Gentleman. Thanks.
(The Iron Heel notwithstanding.)
Well I guess I did have a thing or two to add, after all.
The lack of certain chemicals on the brain only explains bad behaviour not good , fascinating.
I absolutely adore this man ❤️❤️❤️
Edit: I'm not even British, I'm Greek 🇬🇷
It’s true....lived in America the kids gave you respect....yes ma’am...yes Sir.....here in the UK in public the cursing.....no manners....
Great interview, I enjoy reading Dalrymple's books very much.
Architecture is vitally important to our mood. Spend a day in Oxford, then spend the next day in Dudley.
My Spanish wife arrived thirty five years ago and one of her first impressions was the extraordinary politeness of the British compared with her homeland. Now she is convinced that the British have become uniquely amongst foreign visitors the most thuggish, disrespectful, and rude people to visit Spain.
Did she go back to Spain? I want to move to Spain to get away from what you are describing.
