Watch admitted Quakers react to their acceptances into the University of Pennsylvania! Read our editorial: What potential Quakers need to know. www.thedp.com/a...
The last one made me cry. Not because of the girls, but because of the teacher. It must be a great feeling to teach a human being and then see them succeeding.
acceptance rate count for all people who apply. That includes those who applied with little to no chance of getting accepted. Those people applied just for fun probably with the "maybe ill get in lol xD" mindset. Similar for universities like Seoul National University with it's 0.5% acceptance rate. It's not that top top top of the world, but it's just that everyone applies to it. Which is why it's so selective. I'm not sure how it is for Penn but this is my view on the acceptance rate.
@@Nole2701 Every college has an acceptance rate and every one of them is based on the same thing. This number is very low relative to most other colleges.
i think the reason why i get kinda emotional watching these videos is because it's the reward and result of all the hard work and dedication they put throughout all these years to get into an Ivy school/college. Good job!! inspirational forsure
This is so heartwarming to see--the kids with their parents supporting them and being proud of their accomplishment. Penn is a beautiful campus, with so much to do and so many brilliant minds. Certainly not a cheap school, but it shows in where the funds are allocated. If this were me, I'd find a way to go. While many automatically write off college as too expensive--there are many scholarships (merit-based or need-based)--from the school, or from philanthropic foundations. I believe that if your desire to go is strong enough, you will search until you exhaust all the scholarships/grants you can find. It saddens me how uninformed some students and their families are. No matter the socioeconomic background, I commend these Quakers for their work and wish them the best.
Please don't worry or stress about it. The worst thing that can happen is they will say no. Trust me, I've been through the process too, and everything will work out in the end. But all the very best of luck to you!
Upenn is my dream school, I doubt I’ll get in though not because I doubt myself, I just didn’t seriously start thinking about college til junior year and by that time I hadn’t taken the rigor courses that I should have and would’ve done well in. For anyone reading and still in HS take the classes you want to and believe that you’ll do well in, experience other classes that interest you but don’t waste too much time on the classes you don’t see being your future career!
It's so interesting seeing Americans get so crazy and scream etc about being accepted! (Not judging, it's awesome that everyone gets so happy) Because here in New Zealand, being accepted to college (which we call university) is such a normal thing and we usually just react like "cool! I'm in!" Hahah like it's not that big a deal! Everyone seems to get accepted here, so it's so nice to see people in other parts of the world appreciate how big a deal it is to actually go to college!
Amy B These colleges that you see the videos for are some of the hardest universities to get into (like 3% acceptance rate) so that is why people are getting so excited about it :D
America has the best universities in the world, so for someone to get accepted into the ivy league schools (harvard, yale, dartmouth, brown, cornell, upenn, princeton, Columbia) is a huge deal. These schools have acceptance rates as low as 5.2%. To get in is quite the accomplishment. Plus with all the immigrants here some will be the first of their family to go to college, some are living below the poverty line, etc.
The last one made me cry. Not because of the girls, but because of the teacher. It must be a great feeling to teach a human being and then see them succeeding.
The reason they were all so excited is because UPENN only has a 9.4% acceptance rate
thought it was because Upenn is one of best places to study in the universe. LOL :))

my parents would be crying because they have to pay for upenn.
Owen Wu mine would be happy because their asses are not the ones paying for it lmao
It has need based as I recall
I love this comment
Penn is need based. If paying for it is an issue you most likely qualify for financial aid
Catherine Kennedy HAHAHAHAH
1:29 'YEAHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!' aha what was that
