As a Marine who once trained with the Navy at MOS school at NAS Memphis, we took special care to march and call cadence because we had to look good in front of the Navy. Our combined class of Sailors and Marines would march together often. I remember once being called on to do a cadence, which I would never volunteer to do, but I rose to the occasion because I didn't want us to look bad in front of Sailors. We Marines had to keep our image up! LOL

I equal them to a MARINE. They show up to our unit; Stunned, and then there's combat, they never waivered. God Bless them. Tank Crewman, Grunt 13 months VN, 3 campaigns. Fact: do you know why they carry stuff on their left hand but not on their right hand? Because they would use their right hand to salute officers outdoor. And this applied every where.

. . . and this carries over into civilian life after your ETS. Most of the time I'll carry stuff in my left hand as a habit. . . that's been 50 years ago, too.

In formations like these, the cadence caller/formation leader (generally off to the right of the group, seperate from the group) are the ones that salute for the entire division. While in formation and marching, you don't salute.

Serious question... what are these people doing? 1:30 It sounds like they're marching, but it looks like they're walking back from 7-11, with their Slurpees and their Pringles.
I guess I've just never seen that in 'the movies', and that's all I have, for reference.

Question to any marines or sailors out there: I've heard about the gentle ribbing that goes on between the navy and marines, but do yall like each other more than army/af, or do army and marines like each other more than the other two? Or nothing at all like any of that

So navy did short in front tall in back and marines did the opposite...why?
