For foraging offerings, I love carrying a mixture of dried coffee grounds and ground eggshells. It's a holdover from my childhood. My Great Grandma, whom I am convinced was an unrealized kitchen and garden witch, always saved her eggshells and coffee grounds to use in her rose garden. She also taught us that there were no such things as weeds, just flowers without a home yet! I also like to sing them a song to give them vibes and co2!

Lol, for some reason it only just now occurred to me, after 40 years on this Earth, the sheer amount of ritual intentions that can be worked into the practice of crochet. I mean, every dip and tuck and swirl of every stitch could add to the power of a working. Then imagine if you designed your own stitch and pattern like you would a sigil. 🤯

I did something similar this past summer! It's primarily foraging-focused, but it's a small tote bag with reusable storage containers, ziplock-style bags, a small trowel, notebook and pencils/pens, garden gloves, a garbage-picking bag, and a few personal objects of significance. I almost always have a water bottle nearby, so water is my go-to offering for any plants I'm gathering.

I adore your travel altar ideas! As a crone (or close to it), I find most of these videos to be bland without much creativity but I love how all your ideas were well thought out. I often have travel altars for certain areas I'm visiting and you provide some new and interesting ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!

That is such a cute bag Bente, and your travel kit is amazing. It's quite similar to a Medicine Bag actually! Also, another great option for an offering is corn meal. Doesn't damage the environment, can feed animals, and gives nutrients to the plants around, usually if it's mill ground without too many additives specifically. Or if you grind your own. Some store bought brands add a lot of things to theirs. Another option is rice as well. I LOVE the bird food idea. If you ever find your oils leaking accidentally, as well, try turning them into a balm or salve. They travel just as well if not better sometimes and work just as potently. Plus sometimes the flat disk of a salve tin fits a little better into some spaces. Other times the oil bottles work way better. 😊 You definitely gave me some fantastic ideas for my own Medicine Bag though which I've been struggling with for a while so thank you!!!!!

Just for information. I read many years ago that raw rice will swell inside their stomachs and cause them to have a horrible death. If I have to toss raw rice exposed to dampness and can't be eaten, I soak it in water before throwing it out. That way it can't swell up in any stomach. If I have broken glass, I duct tape it and toss it separately away from any food so that no animal will be tempted to eat it at the landfill. Thank you.

The difference is instead of a small rune set i have a small tarot deck cause I find that a bit easier for me (I’m a visual learner and tarot reading is what i vibe with). I also have a small notebook for sigils, observations, and a pen that doubles as something to write in that notebook with, as well as write on my wrist sigils (it’s a skin safe pen).

I love this idea--I like the idea of having a separate bag for "real" foraging trips, so I'm not taking all that with me when I'm just running errands or wanting to take a worship hike. This way, I can take a small sample, as you say, and then return at a later date if I need to. I sometimes also pack a small bell, as a sound offering, but I like the idea of bird seed. I can't think of anything that would be harmed by that, since just a little won't choke out grass the way a lot of chaff can under a feeder. Thank you so much! And I'm going to try Aura, too... that emergency use for anxiety attacks sounds quite useful.

Thank you for the video. I absolutely LOVE my magical practice tools (oils, crystals, fixed candles, divination tools, etc.) and thought this video to be very useful. With that said, I personally don't believe that my tools - as wonderful as they are - are absolutely necessary to practice magic. To be clear, I'm not referring to the tools that I use to harvest, store, or use for offerings, but rather the tools I use to protect, banish, divine, etc.). Realizing this has been an important step in my personal journey in developing an ability to rely solely on my intentions and my ability to use my mind powers. Still, I won't give up the tools if I don't have to because they really do assist me in creating the desired mood and getting my heart in the right place. Do you suppose this is another witchy hot take? :) Peace!

    • @TheNorseWitch

I don’t think that’s a hot take ☺️ I think most magical practitioners nowadays agree, that most tools are just a help to support your own magical powers. ☺️

Loved this and such a cute bag! When I go out to forage, I bring back plants to identify, press and add to my materia medica. Depending on what it is and the amount I'm gathering, I use plastic bags I wash and reuse. Nail clippers for pets are perfect for cutting branches with larger and tougher wood. Bug spray, handsanitizer, small pack of tissues, hunting knife, and notebook and pen. If im going through an area I dont know, I take a local field guide and card with my emergency info and a couple doses of any meds I take. And, unfortunately, pepper spray, at least.
    Stay safe everyone!!!

That's a very good video, both regarding the content and the video footage and editing (b-roll and color grading are a.m.a.z.i.n.g.!). I got to say I'm still puzzled how copper from coins can be harmful, but regardless the offering ideas were great, to be honest. A traditional thing to offer in my region, if you have nothing else, is a thread from your clothing. But generally here once you've connected with a plant, offerings are welcomed but optional. I don't have such a large kit, but I do have a box with charcoal, incense, matches, a devotional image and some seeds. I use it when I go camping and I don't want to carry anything excessive. Other than that, this outfit is seriously questioning my choice of not wearing lace in public. :D Thank you for the good video!, I've been enjoying your channel greatly! 🥰

Thank you so much! I’m also kinda proud of the b-roll tbh and that happens very rarely 🤣 so your compliment made me very happy! ❤️
Regarding the coin thing - I actually didn’t manage to find the source again, damn! I Wonder where I read that. I remember googling it, I think, but I can’t find the article again. It was something about coins being made up of multiple metals (of course) and a big part being copper, which damages the soil in that area because too much copper in the soil is very bad for lots of plants.

    • @TalesOfBalkanMagic
      @TalesOfBalkanMagic Год назад

@@TheNorseWitch You should be proud of the b-roll! Keep it going ;) Don't worry about the coin thing, I'm sure it is based on some real science, I'm just skeptical that the amount of one coin can be harmful to those hardy plants that inhabit city parks and wild nature :D But what's most important that everyone should give an offering that doesn't make them uncomfortable, and thankfully, there are plenty of alternatives.

❤ I love the idea of carrying a notebook and pen. I'm stealing that one! I can't imagine how many interesting ideas I've forgotten
I carry a little pocket-sized tackle box, which is basically a hinged plastic container with segmented sections for my foraging. I'm clumsy, so a pocket full of glass bottles would probably lead stitches😅
I also want to get bonsai scissors, as my folding pair is quite cheap, but for now I'll just keep using my pocket knife.
I offer a pinch of tobacco , as my family tends to do out of tradition...or "water the plants" when I feel the urge, but I really like the idea of bringing bird seeds! And once the container is empty, it's available to use for another foraged plant!
Your crocheted bag is also adorable, but I think I'd prefer something leather or fake-leather for its texture and water resistance. After all, if I get caught in the rain, my notebook could get ruined
