My family comes from Coahuila, and we use flour tortillas for tacos. My grandma has been making them since she was a little girl. From what I understand, corn is the norm in the south, while flour is more common in northern Mexico.
if you buy them from the store, in canada or america, wheat flour is cheaper than corn flour. so the store only sells wheat flour wraps. i dont think i have had a corn flour wrap.
Please do Chancla or no Chancla Part 4. BTW is Ramon, Anthony's uncle? I thought that was mentioned in one of The Crazy Gorilla's videos. Mexican Candy Part 2!
It explains why something like a BK taco can get a 9 from her. Like, okay, that tells me it's edible, but there's no way it's a "9". Then again, Lucy tends to go VERY low. She gives almost everything a 0-2, so she is the other end of picky. She really doesn't like it if it isn't homemade.
As a Norteño, I'll say that, while I respect their preferences of corn over flour tortilla, I must, respectfully, disagree with the idea that tacos can only have corn tortillas, and that a flour tortilla automatically makes it a burrito. They might call it that, but in my experience, this is just plain wrong. Tacos can most definitely be made in both corn and flour tortillas. In fact, in Northern Mexico some tacos can actually be quite preferable (or at least just as good) in flour tortillas, such as taquitos de barbacoa, or machacado. A burrito isn't just a taco with a flour tortilla: it's much larger than a taco, and the tortilla is rolled, rather than folded in half.
We need an episode that each one cooks a dish and they rate each other to see if they are like our typical Spanish mothers and aunts that criticize everybody’s food except their own or they really are objective. 😂
Lucy went in on Taco Bell, and she was right to do so. The quality of their food has dropped so much, it was never great to begin with, but now it's just awful. Also, someone bring Alicia some cabbage and red sauce!
She definitely hit the nail on the head. It's like bad quality hamburger that is almost chewy and then the spices are a ton of salt with like too much chili powder or something. My American palate knows it's not particularly good.
Worked for Taco Bell when I first turned 18 I never had it again after I quit it disgusts me just thinking about it at the location I worked at the employees never cleaned the soda fountain when I did it had mold on it 😳 and a trail of ants coming from the back into the place
The corn tortilla is much older (before European arrival), however, the flour tortilla was also invented in the northern areas of Mexico. From what I've heard, different areas of Mexico prefer the different tortillas, just like people prefer different BBQ in areas in the USA.
And they also call their burritos, soft shell tacos... A soft shell taco is also with corn tortilla. Come to Tijuana, you'll taste a real taco. Btw, we barely ever eat hard shell tacos, and when we eat them, their hard because we deep fry them.
