Its an HD port of the 3DS version, not the Wii one. Period. A person who's actively playing Nintendo games would've noticed this right away. And this is also the reason they added the extra world from the portable version, because it is the same game but upscaled, so there's no reason to keep comparing it to the wii version, since it's based on a different version altogether.

@@TrocmarIt does make sense that it’s based off of the 3DS version, since that version was already ported to run on the ARM based processor in the 3DS, similar to what the Switch has.

Remember The legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD when it’s a rerelease of the Wii game that cost more than the Wii version that now cost less, but made you charge extra & made you charge even more just to use an easier gameplay feature by getting an Amiibo that can only be used for only that game! Same on you Nintendo! 😤
Let's put it this way: At least it's not the cumbersome Wii port that has less content, compared the 3DS version that has poor resolution. What are we complaining about?
If I have only played less than 10% of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch, should I just play that game for now until DC HD Wii port comes down to $39?
Yes, Tropical Freeze is the better game and experience. However, DKC Returns is more of a challenge, especially in the later worlds, and also has more total levels.
$40 in May 2013 = $54.20 in October 2024 (latest data). On price alone that’s basically a wash. Would need hours worked on dev time for both for a true comparison.
Unpopular opinion. We need channels like this that say things for what they are. Lots of sponsored channel these days. Rgt keeps it real. And as consumer we need more channels keeping it real.
I’m really not that bothered by the slight graphical changes in the game. I’ve been playing ports of donkey Kong country for the game boy color and game boy advance and boy do they ever have graphical differences! I’ve played both donkey. Kong country returns for the Wii and the 3DS both of which have graphical differences, but the gameplay is still very much intact for both. So I’m really not that bothered by the slight changes that are being highlighted over by GameExplain.
I can live with the watwr textures not looking great. Where they lose me is the price. When Metroid Prime remastered released for $40, that should've been the standard price for future remasters
How many original first party Nintendo titles have been released on the switch that wasn’t a Wii/Wii U port or a remaster from another previous system?
People don’t understand is that if it’s 60 bucks physical that includes production cost artwork and the box. Then you have gamers that just want everything to be perfect so they always nit pick but RGT lol you’re still going to get the game when it’s drops 😂
I will be buying this Day 1. I love this game and having it on the Switch would be awesome. Loved it on Wii and 3DS. Wished we could get Kirby's Epic Yarn on the Switch finally. As for complaints with the price well you gotta pay to play with Nintendo is what I often say. They view their products as toys and most toys are expensive. I gave my Ps5 to my wife and i rarely play my Series X. My Switch OLED gets the most play and I'll be going exclusively Nintendo next gen.
Reminds me of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD compared to 3. One is a game made specifically for that console, whereas the other is a port of an inferior console (3DS)
What i hate most is they made it easy mode… 3 Hearts is to many for a platform built to be hard since the first DKC Game. Glad i still have my wii and DKCR
I actually played donkey country on the wii and have completely forgotten all the levels and that in it. I never played it on the 3ds. So playing it again is probably switch I don’t mind because it’s been like a decade or longer since I originally it.
People are missing the point. Nintendo can put out whatever crap quality they want because fan boys will say thank you sir may I have another! If consumers don’t demand better, they wont get better. The irony is the bigger the fan boy, the more harm you are doing to the quality of the company you love.
Yah I ordered donkey Kong for the wii a while back. I probably won't get the switch version. I don't care about pixels or jaggy edges. But the water visuals is a slap in the face. RGT. You should do the differences between the sonic adventure games. The pc version is horrible. I think it was ported like 50 times. From the gamecube which is actually a downgrade compared to the dreamcast. Then ported to xbox. and so forth. I now watch these reviews so I don't buy an invisible paper weight.
It looks so poor compared to Tropical Freeze. It stood out like a sore thumb on the recent Donkey Kong through the ages trailer. Every game looked better as the trailer progressed, until we got to this. Half baked indeed.
Will major games flopping it makes sense to repackage a game with a guaranteed return, but at the same time they have all the assets and would also get a return with new game, and not lose respect for charging for the same game over & over
This just seems to me that development and marketing teams are not in sync. Not saying there won’t be inconsistencies in the final product, since this is now the 3rd different studio to work on this game, but I doubt there’ll be anything major to complain about… other than the price
On my WII and 3ds. I have a copy for both my 3DS X L . I'm into retro so the graphics for 3ds and Wii are pleasing to me. Playing on my Wii U it upscales a little on my 4K TV. I'll buy a switch on sale after Nintendo sells the New console. I buy old school.
This is exactly why I don't own a single first-party game or have any subscription on Switch. Love to play some of the decade old Mario games but I'm not paying silly money. I'll just wait a while and emulate.
@Refreshment01 physical is pointless, you're only buying a glorified SD card with VERY limited lifespan for a start and second I said "wait a while" which means I'll play these long after the Switch is off the market. Plenty of time, no rush because I'm am adult.
Wii and 3ds versions dont matter anymore, nobody wants to play it on either of those. Overpriced yes but at least its back. Why wasnt it ported 7 years ago? Before its sequel... 🤷♂️
Switch games have always been a downgrade, just look at how bare bones all of the Mario sports games are on the Switch. The console solidly relys on remakes, remasters and re-releases of Wii U games. And now they're tapping into the Wii library. The online service is GARBAGE and yes, they killed Virtual Console. So you can't even purchase the classic titles you actually want and bypass all the other junk. Honestly, this is the first Nintendo console that doesn't feel 'Nintendo'. @@wrathz_115 Oh no. That's not good.
I'll be waiting for reviews.
@@wrathz_115 Forever Entertainment: "One of the biggest game publishers on Nintendo Switch in the world." They also did the HD Remake of Panzer Dragoon!
Remember, Panzer Dragoon Remake had some graphical issues (just as DKC Returns HD does), but they heard the fan feedback and fixed them via updates/patches. Now all said issues are addressed; it looks and runs flawlessly!
Mortgage is due for RGT. This is just a very half assed video. Its been a while since ive seen someone split so many hairs just to find something to complain about.
Downgrade? Take my downvote.
This kinda reminds me of when the film grain is removed from movies when they're remastered in HD. It's made to look cleaner, but the natural detail is gone.
It don’t matter to me I’m still buying. I love donkey Kong. I guess I’m just one of them people. And I really don’t think the water matters when you’re playing a game. I’m not looking at the water when I’m playing the game. I know it’s nitpicking, but that stuff don’t bother me. I just wanna play it on my switch that’s it so I will be buying.
You reaching bro. Especially on that rainbow one. They clearly made it so you can see the rainbow and so its more noticeable lmao that is definitely an upgrade on that part
Could be 70 and nintendo kids would get their parents to buy it for them
I'd happily pay $70!
Then ur a loser
Remember The legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD when it’s a rerelease of the Wii game that cost more than the Wii version that now cost less, but made you charge extra & made you charge even more just to use an easier gameplay feature by getting an Amiibo that can only be used for only that game! Same on you Nintendo! 😤
Let's put it this way:
At least it's not the cumbersome Wii port that has less content, compared the 3DS version that has poor resolution.
What are we complaining about?
"poor resolution" It's a handheld, you're not expecting 1080p on a handheld console from 2010?
He wasn’t keeping it real about the MSI Claw.
@@bombjack2413 He gives his opinion on stuff. You don't have to like it.
That’s why i’m here. The shill media make me want yo spit.
Nintendo aren’t going to listen to a couple of RUclipsrs though.
They’ll keep charging what they want for games and people will keep paying it.
@youtuber6193 which is sad asf💀
None of these will be noticeable in handheld mode, if you put this game on a 55 inch tv, then you'll see the difference or any good display panel.
All they'd have to do is remove motion controls and I'd be happy. Shaking the wiimote to roll was terrible.
I guess Nintendo forgot that you can play that game on the Wii. The name Nintendo just doesn't have nearly the same weight it used to.
Donkey Kong fans are constantly neglected and will never receive a new DK game.
Alright drama queen let’s calm down lol
And what about Star Fox fans?
Naw we’re getting a new game sooner than later 🥂
@@alibabaschultz352what about Wave Race fans, hmm?
@@Curlyheart Exactly
I never played the game so it's new to me!
Same I’m at 50 switch games and still going
Honestly, screw the graphics. Just fix the slippery controls and I'm sold!
Yay for the return of Donkey Kong :) These nit picks reminds me of Michael does life on RUclips lol
Samus Returns would have been a far superior choice to remaster.
4:40 “nitpicky things” coming from RantGamingTelevision85? NEVER!! 🙄
It's a Rodea the sky soldier situation again.
The classic Nintendo "copy-paste $60 please" and like always the fanboys will eat it up.
This looks like a job for Captain Jack 🏴☠️
returns and tropical freeze will also be ported to switch 2 and they will be the dk games of that system.
Mace: The Dark Ages theme playing in the background. That takes me back, lol.
THE EXECUTIONER versus THE EXECUTIONER
Reminds me of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD compared to 3. One is a game made specifically for that console, whereas the other is a port of an inferior console (3DS)
the reason this happens is likely, the art department and art director of the port studio is not very experienced in my opinion
MUCH better overall resolution and it will probably run better. No, it is not a downgrade 😐
I think this can be attributed to a change in the engine used.
We are not sure if this is the final look of the game ☕
I'm calling this situation for what it is, and that's bullshit. Nintendo needs called out by more people that have a following.
People are missing the point. Nintendo can put out whatever crap quality they want because fan boys will say thank you sir may I have another! If consumers don’t demand better, they wont get better. The irony is the bigger the fan boy, the more harm you are doing to the quality of the company you love.
I was expecting this already, though kind of pondering if it also has a mode change thing between docked and handheld for things.
$40 sounds like the correct price
It looks so poor compared to Tropical Freeze. It stood out like a sore thumb on the recent Donkey Kong through the ages trailer. Every game looked better as the trailer progressed, until we got to this. Half baked indeed.
Switch version looks objectively better due to the higher res. Game is not out yet so they still got time to beautify some of the backgrounds.
Resolution makes no difference to how good a game looks.
@@Wobble2007 Play a game in 480i then play the same game at 4k. Yeah you clearly don't know wtf you are talking about.
New Bowser music, I see. Villain64
Will major games flopping it makes sense to repackage a game with a guaranteed return, but at the same time they have all the assets and would also get a return with new game, and not lose respect for charging for the same game over & over
Ill buy this next year when it drops to $25 🍻
Say transparency and half assed a couple more times and I’ll believe you.
Because buying used its not an option, its so virtuous to pirate commercially available game systems.
you're questioning if something is a dowgrade ripoff while all Nintendo itself is a downgrade ripoff, and still you like it.
I'll get this game when i find it at a flea market for $20.
it for sure is the 3ds version because of the motion control bs they couldn't port the wii version
Feels like a lazy cash grab with some half-assed ideas.
Am I surprised by DK Country being a downgrade? No...Not really, but I am as equally disappointed. Nintendo have really fallen off the wagon.
I'll buy it when i find a preowned copy
I don't think I'm right about things. I know I'm right about everything.
I respectfully disagree on this one specific thing you're still awesome much love man.
.....this is the most nitpicky insanity I've seen since the PS5 pro reveal
Which side is insane though? The side that's pointing out the differences or the side that's charging *TOP PREMIUM DOLLAR* for the "new version"?
@@7F0X7 i saw a video somebody did where they said the hd version looked like crap, yet they only showed things in the background you'd never look at on your own if you were actually playing the game.

I've been hoping this game got switch release since tropical freeze came out,
Nintendo is the most anti-consumer company in the gaming industry. Their high quality first-party exclusives are the only reason they are still successful.
It's a lazy, over-priced remaster but, at the same time, I really want to have this game on Switch. I'm torn.
