I have this problem with a Bilstein B12 pro kit on a BMW Z4M. You would think as a kit the shock bump stop would be trimmed to work with the supplied Eibach spring which lowers 20mm at the front. Bottoms out really easily and makes me wince.
my bump stops are squeaking. would it be ok to apply some silicone lubricant to the inside part of the bumpstop that comes into contact with the strut to remedy the noise?
I went just purchased KYB R4273, KYB SR4274, KYB SR4068, KYB SR4069 for my 2007 Toyota Corolla S. since those are OEM shocks and I want to install some Tein Lowering Springs. Do you sell pre-cut bump stops for that set-up? Can I the stock coil dust covers that came with the shocks and struts?
@@EibachUSA I know what they want cut off on the front and rears, I was just wondering if you folks made already cut bump-stops. I am a little surprised that you guys don't corner that market, and produce ready cut ones for folks that buy your stuff.
QUESTION: Would not trimming the rear bump stop cause a clunking noise? im experiencing clunking noise when hitting bumps in the road and on the highway when going over small dips. Mine came with new front stops (mk7 VW Sportwagen) but Im not sure if I should trim the rears. Does it matter if the shocks are made for lowering springs, because the ones I got are?
More shock travel with trimmed bump stops is obvious. However; what effect does it have on the stock shock longevity? Removing 1" from the bump stop, would cause the shock to compress further than with untrimmed bump stops, putting more stress/pressure on the shock.
Hello, trimming the bump stop won’t have an effect on shock longevity. The bump stop acts like a progressive rate, once you hit it you add rate and gives you bottoming resistance so you the transition isn’t so harsh when you reach the end of your travel.
Could this actually be the problem on my Porsche 996 C2??? I’m literally about to swap to HR’s to try and solve the high ride height vs the drop in the rears… I am literally driving a boat. I have the same, my rear suspension is almost inactive and totally feels like a boat now. Didn't used to be that way. I thought maybe I'd blown the rear shocks by overloading but when I examined them they looked ok. About to go back to OEM sport springs on the rear I think!
Don’t trim them! I trimmed mine and it makes a loud clunking sound when just on a flat road So now my cars been down for a week since I’m waiting on new ones to come in just extra money wasted
