Megumi is probably hated because of the runners who use it, hakari is pretty good in my opinion, same with megumi. People just don’t know how to combo and in general use it without running a marathon with it most of the time.
I think the problem is how stressful it is to fight megumi when the player knows how to use the character to its advantage, that’s where loud mouth players start to crash out when they are stressed even more than fighting any other character, giving the character a bad rep for being a soulless “spam” machine.

I’ve been preaching this. Megumi is the WORST character in game bar none. 😭😭 Nerfed to the ground because of how people play the character, and people are still gonna complain saying he’s no skill when he really isn’t
Megumi sucks for one simple reason: He essentially has no viable combo extenders. Toad is blockable and Bunnies are blockable. Most skilled players aren't gonna fall for the behind-the-back M1's after Bunnies to combo extend either. Nue is counterable for some reason and most of the time, the move doesn't even land. Divine Dog doesn't even hit anymore if you block and the move doesn't auto-track anymore making it a garbage move. Megumi's damage-output is just complete garbage. To essentially do ANYTHING, you must land M1's which is already hard enough considering most JJS players have passive play-styles. Let's be completely honest: The entire point of even using Megumi at-this-point is to simply summon Mahoraga and get jumped. Mahoraga is quite literally the ONLY redeeming quality in Megumi's kit and it's a ULT MOVE that can be CANCELLED. I understand Megumi can chain his moves together quite well, but you must get rid of quite literally ALL of your moves just to do damage. This is one of the main reasons why Megumi users run so much: They spam all their moves trying to do damage and once they fail miserably 9 times out of 10, they summon their inner Joseph Joestar and start sprinting for cooldowns. This is one of the reasons I, along with many others, have a strict aversion to fighting Megumi users. Overall, Megumi is HOT BUNS and EASILY the WORST character in the entire game. He is quite literally a support character and nothing else. If you think im over-exaggerating, how about you use Megumi against ACTUALLY SKILLED PLAYERS and see for yourself how absolutely garbage Megumi is. I rest my case (and thank you for those who actually sat down to read this yap-session lolz).

The only reason people say Megumi is trash is from noobs who just run and spam his moves. If you were to fight a competent Megumi player he will box you up, bury you 12 feet under and will stand over your grave to max sure you don’t get out. He has so many attacking options, and can do extreme damage when you properly use his combo’s right, and to be honest there isn’t one “worst” move set in JJS, they are all very viable but Megumi by far is definitely not the worst.
The only thing I dont like about Megumi are his m1s. They just feel horrible to use compared to the likes of Hakari and Yuji. If his M1s felt nicer to use, hed honestly be really fun.

here is a cool tip for Megumi users. Before your awakening ends, switch back to base and use all your moves because it resets after your awakening finishes (You can only get 2 uses of all of your awakening moves so switch back after that)

megumu is so good, just hard to use, thats the reason why most combos do like 70-80% damage, but he also has cheesy easy to set up combos for some chip damage
Megumi is the fastest non-ulted character in the game with R special and Nue R combined, it has the most hidden ult with no sound or visual indicators when you ult and after you ult. and you can easily use mahoraga if you use divine dogs while your summoning mahoraga.
One thing I don't see people use more in pvp is that you can really utilize throw able objects so much, you can force them to a block with rabbit escape then go to R and pop out with a trash can, or if they're blocking cause you have dog out you can let dog hit them once then go to R and throw the object, ofc this is not useable in ranked but it's really helpful at times lol
