I haven't had a chance to play the full release yet, but I tried a couple of playthroughs of the current demo, and it is quite hard, in part because of the need to get good a handle on all of the interconnected mechanics in order to not kill your colony outright. For instance, if people are deficient in certain needs for too long, they gain permanent debuffs that prevent them from filling other needs, and which eventually will probably kill them. There's also multiple ways to softlock the game by bad early-game choices. It is very much a "learning through failure" kind of game. I think it does a pretty good job of doing what it does, and there is a market for this kind of thing, so hopefully it can connect with its potential audience.
