On july 9th 2024 myself and my girlfriend found a puppy, she was only 1 month and aome change after being afraid of dogs my whole life lol. She was so little and full if fleas, the idea was that we would share her however shes still with me. I have a rescue pitty - when I got her she was full of yeast and allergies. Started making her vegan dog food with a bit of Wild Earth and she is doing amazing! Thank you for the recipe :)
A little pepper helps with the absorption of the turmeric, so a small amount of that can be good. Also coconut oil is another good option and cranberries for urine track. Overall this is decent recipe for dogs. They also live broccoli and some people include beets. Dogs seem to enjoy having fresh prepared meals and they enjoy the veggies like horses do as well.

My dog used to get these blisters super painful in between his toes that will bleed. I started giving him turmeric with black pepper with his food and they have not come back since!! Turmeric is magic
Can you elaborate on this? Because my poor little girl is getting those cysts between her toes, skin is so inflamed and rashed. Do you cook the tumeric and pepper with the food or add it after? To you give it to them a different way? How much for a 20lbs dog?

He will get them very often so be I started putting 1tbs of turmeric powder in his food once a day with 1/8 tsp black pepper to improve absorption. I don’t cook it I just put in on top of his kibble. No need to cook. My dog is big 90lbs so if you have small dog start small and slowly increase.
Great stuff. Just to make it clear: you use this WITH the comercial dog food? Is the dog food vegan too? Hard to find comercial vegan dog food where I live, hoping my dogs can go WFPB, but I´m insecure. Any advice?
I don’t expect you read comments from videos a year old but I looked up home made Vegan dog food and this is where I landed. I went Vegan 13 years ago and struggled to transition my dogs to a Vegan diet as they had been eating dog food for years. But now I have a one year old chihuahua who hates carrots but I’m determined to succeed this time. My mixture doesn’t look as good as yours even though the only thing I didn’t add was the dulce cos I couldn’t find it. I halved everything but still filled two full pots. So obviously going to have to freeze most of it. I don’t even have enough containers. Will half it again next time. I really hope she likes it cos it cost me $42 for all the ingredients. Love from Australia. (Still crying over Indy) 😭
So glad you posted this video on how to make homemade Vegan Dog Food. It does look good enough for dogs to eat. I did laugh a little, because kidney beans for dogs? Who knew? OMG. I know they give my husband gas, I wonder if it will give my dogs gas? Well, you would've said so. But by the looks of it, your dogs are loving that food.

I love that I can control the amount of protein and use fresh ingredients. With the craziness in the world right now I love that the ingredients are shelf stable too!
Hi 😊, so I recently found your video because my husband and I are vegans and wanted to move our dogs into vegan option for food. I have been making their food with chicken, turkey and eggs but after finding out we can give them a vegan option we were super for it. My question is how many cups would you give my dogs a day this recipe? I have four dogs two chihuahuas (1/2 cup), one pitbull mix ( 3cups) and a weineraener( I think that’s how you spell it){ 3cups in the morning and 2 cups in the afternoon}I feed them once a day with the meat besides the weineraner but now since I’m switching how many cups should I give them so that they have their full meal? If you can please help me out I would greatly appreciate it 🙏🏻
I'm glad to see you're feeding your dog similarly as I do mine! Spock doesn't like carrots so I give him sweet potatoes, but the rest is almost identical. He's 15 now and doing great, I hope your dog lives to be 100 !

It is nutritionally balanced and I’ve been doing this for years but I’m not a vet or an “expert” so you can’t take my advice. I still give them the small scoop of kibble to supplement.

Have you found a good kibble solution since making this? My dogs have been struggling with allergies, and the oldest is having kidney/bladder issues in recent months. Looking to start by switching from commercial kibble, but your video on V-Dog made me not want to waste money, and Halo's vegan formula possibly changed recently. I bought a bag from Halo, they ate it at first, and then they wouldn't touch it. Call me paranoid, but I'm wondering if word got out that vegan diets were working well for dogs and cats, and 'people of influence' maybe wanted to contradict that message? Who knows, but it seems strange that the major vegan animal food brands have been losing their appeal in recent years...
I will tell you this- it wasn’t way for me to find info on the web on “how to feed your dog vegan”. They Definitely don’t want us to know. Traditional Dog food is unnecessarily expensive and unhealthy and they know it!

Hi, I’m a longtime vegan dog mama myself! Decades of long living healthy pups and never had a dog or cat die from cancer ever. May I ask where you got your info about turmeric, and also your previous dog food video talking about rosemary being safe for dogs? Lots of dog resource books give meat recipes…. I’m considering switching to at least maybe half homemade half kibble or something to save money. I’ve done Evolution and Natural Balance all these years. I’ll take any nutrition and/or ingredients to be aware of resources and thank you so much! I know Vegedog got a little cookbook…. And now new studies are out saying that vegan dogs are healthier than the meaty one. They say there needs to be an important nutritional balance with homemade that most people miss, so it’s easier to get readymade food stamped with approval by a vet (like Evolution). If you have information/resources I’d appreciate that so much and thank you. 🙏🏾❤️

my 10 yr old staffie mix has pica, is allergic to all the things, has skin issues, and now is having gas and poo issues. i am vegan and don't want to buy meat to make the dog food, so this seems like a good option to try with my senior dogs. am trying rice, bar1ley, pureed orange root veg and nooch. as soon as i get some greens, in they go (chlorophill, save us from the stench!)
Yay! Chris! We use sweet potato, peas and blueberries as well as rice, topped up with some V dog kibble and mix it all up for Harry. He loves it. Occasionally Ill cook up some quinoa. He is spoilt! I struggle a lot being vegan and having a dog. Its so much information/misinformation about it online I never know what to do. I end up feeding her meat but im not happy about it. I wish I’d found hope in this video but its so many contradictory comments
As a Vet Tech and pet nutrition specialist, please don't follow this. At least there is some (potentially) balanced kibble there, but there is no mention of supplements to balance this recipe, or calories. Tumeric can be helpful for inflammation but there needs to be proper dosing. Does this recipe contain enough cysteine and methionine to make taurine? So many unanswered, very important, nutritional factors. This could be used as a topper, at best, not 50% of their diet. If folks want to feed a homemade diet, seek the help of a veterinary nutritionist!
Yes cause my dogs get such upset stomachs with animal protein and fat I know I'm not the only person that experiences this and if they don't they don't pay attention . They run around eating grass and licking the floor if I don't give them oatmeal and carrots
My chihuahua/rat terrier started coming up to Me everhtime I brought out the chana dal. Is a split chick pea. Refuses to eat the dog food slams through the chana dal. And it's soft high in protein and fiber and carbs

@@TheVeganZombie Seeds such as sunflower seeds, a natural scavenging food for dogs, contains natural linoleic acid, but plant oils are not a natural food for dogs. Also oils are high in omega 6 which occur within meat, so providing omega 3 oil is best to balance the inflammatory effects of omega 6.
Dogs are not meant be vegan 😭😭 this is just cruelty, i adopted a pittie who was in eggitarian diet, it was in a bad shape. Hopefully he can recover soon.

Have you tried insect-based foods instead? Vegan dog food should only be a last resort option, and insect-based dog foods mean that they'll still be getting animal proteins

I sometimes use barely as well.
If your pup is allergic to everything he/she may have to go with a leaky gut protocol.

I make something similar for my small dogs and I freeze them into small containers and put them in the fridge to defrost the night before.

As a Vet Tech and pet nutrition specialist, please don't follow this. At least there is some (potentially) balanced kibble there, but there is no mention of supplements to balance this recipe, or calories. Tumeric can be helpful for inflammation but there needs to be proper dosing. Does this recipe contain enough cysteine and methionine to make taurine? So many unanswered, very important, nutritional factors. This could be used as a topper, at best, not 50% of their diet. If folks want to feed a homemade diet, seek the help of a veterinary nutritionist!

Yes cause my dogs get such upset stomachs with animal protein and fat I know I'm not the only person that experiences this and if they don't they don't pay attention .

Yes, canola oil is rancid when you purchase it so makes it inflammatory.
@@TheVeganZombie Seeds such as sunflower seeds, a natural scavenging food for dogs, contains natural linoleic acid, but plant oils are not a natural food for dogs. Also oils are high in omega 6 which occur within meat, so providing omega 3 oil is best to balance the inflammatory effects of omega 6.
Dogs are not meant be vegan 😭😭 this is just cruelty, i adopted a pittie who was in eggitarian diet, it was in a bad shape. Hopefully he can recover soon.

Have you tried insect-based foods instead? Vegan dog food should only be a last resort option, and insect-based dog foods mean that they'll still be getting animal proteins
