You missed the part where he was pressing the buttons and he said the battery was hot. That means he effectively killed it. If it's hot, the battery has been compromised.

All batteries get hot when you charge them or discharge them fast enough; this reduces their lifespan but it generally won't break them unless an integral part of the circuit melts or burns.
The only way to know whether it has actually been compromised is to test it.
This is pretty much exactly what I thought would happen. If it gets in the charger port it will fry the battery and the phone is dead.

Voltage doesn't kill. It's the amperage that kills you. They jack up the voltage so people are like "holy shit that's so much, it'll do so much damage and blah blah blah." But if you have even a basic knowledge of electricity you'll know it's amps that kill, not volts

Excuse my nitpicking, but that wasn't a taser. A taser fires two projectiles (from a distance, obviously), which, when embedded into a single object, complete a circuit and run a massive amount of power through said object. What you have there is a "stun gun", which has two diodes, rather than projectiles, and is used for close combat.
