- To mark Remembrance and Royal British Legion’s centenary, The Duchess met 10 year old Cub Scout Emily and 98 year old veteran Colonel Blum to discuss the vital importance of Remembrance across generations.
"It was a true honour to spend time with Colonel Blum and be able to thank him for the sacrifices he made for our country. Speaking to him highlighted again to me why Remembrance is so important, and why we must pay our gratitude to those who have fought and died so we could live in peace today. We should all remember the sacrifices that our armed forces (Army Navy Airforce and homeguards or their equivalents) have made and are still making for us no matter in which country we live. For sure. Notice what Colonel Blum said (paraphrasing), at his age, there's not many people to share memories with. Then he looks over at Emily. Prior to that, Colon Blum talks about the importance of the younger generations not forgetting. The sacrifice of our vets should not be forgotten; neither should the reason their sacrifice was asked to be made.
She has grown so much into her role. I really respect her ability to interview and/or authentically speak to people. Catherine doesn't make it about her. She doesn't take the oxygen out of the room with tales about herself or her cause. She asks others about themselves, what they think and what they want. Well done Duchess!
It's a new format and it suits her because she has a lot of empathy. I hope it will allow her to show us yet other sides of her in her public personna. She, along with her faithful team, is doing a great job. Inspiring.

I have tears running down my cheeks listening them, that child knows so much and appreciates what was sacrificed for us to be free. It’s a pity a few others don’t understand as she does. We must never forget what sacrifices were made and never forget the horrors they went through. We must continue to teach our children and grandchildren and attend Remembrance Day services. This makes me proud

Interesting fact, a poppy will pop up anywhere. Look at construction sites and coming through the concrete boulders is a poppy growing. Another reason that through adversity a poppy will grow under any conditions and survive. Another reason why the poppy is such an important symbol of our brave veterans 🥀
I believe after the allied solders had fought their way through fields in Flanders the next year due to the ground being turned over by the boots of the soldiers The fields Had thousands of poppies flowering ..

I like the many observations of Remembrance Day leading up to Sunday's laying of wreaths. I like the multi generational look at the day and the place scouting has in the past and today.

Never forget! I think I am better prepared for the situation we find ourselves in because of the generation that raised me. My grandparents were born in the 1890s and my parents were born during WWI. I can do anything!

That was very nice, seeing this young girl sitting and talking with this sweet man about remembering this part of history. They're both on the same page, just 80 years apart. Kate does a wonderful job at sewing it all together, to bring both their stories into one, and without needing to be in the story herself. She is a Natural at this, that's why she is so loved. She is very kind hearted .💕
