Yii about your Arknights videos. I think for most of your old viewership it was just a heartbreak cause your videos were funny, seem authentic, were full of information, no one really had that type of video format (even if u claim there is some people out there, they aren't you and they aren't the same). Your videos were what got me so excited day by day, and as heartbreaking as it sounds. we were there for the video/content. I truly wish u the best and hope you are happier now but you don't have to feel bad for the dropping viewership. People watch content by their preference and like u said, if its easy to maintain viewership by just ditching out quality content then content creation would be easy. Godspeed. this is goodbye.
Honestly, as somebody who was also once a "content creator", this video relates to my own experience as well. Most of my content with a high view count is content that I don't feel that people take seriously, and I don't feel like I've made anything worthy to change that perception yet. Thank you for this video
17:08 it’s insane how relatable it is to see something like this as a content creator. How many hours have I not spent in videos that didn’t even break a thousand views. The truth is that if you’re new to content creation, even if you are insanely skilled and extremely hardworking, it’s gonna come down to luck 9 times out of 10
i feel like a lot of bigger creators have gaslit everyone else into thinking that content creation is mostly skill (very big lie). there are things that can make a video perform better in terms of view count, but at the end of the day, you will never know and fully take advantage of people's tastes, trends, etc. don't fight the losing battle thinking you can win; fight because you believe in your cause
@@HiImYii this is probably why tiktok is popular as a content creation platform, its easy to ride on trend and adding a bit of twist. even more so if its only 30 second video so we don't need to put to much time and research to pump out content
As someone who used to make youtube videos, that moment of putting your heart and soul into something only for it to reach just a handful of views is one of the most soul crushing moments ever. I remember how I used to make videos that I enjoyed making only to see them to fail time and time again. Dreams crumbling before my eyes. But I persisted, and eventually, I would be blessed by the algorithm Gods when one of my videos went big, but even that was taken away when just a couple of videos later I was back down to my usual hundred views per video. In a desperate attempt I would put more cringe content into my videos, hoping the number go up, and it did, before crashing down again right afterwards. So I would do it again, and again... this would go on for years until my videos were straight up trash. I didn't enjoy making them anymore either. And the worst part? I forgot how to even make the videos the way I enjoyed anymore. Don't make the same mistake I did. Also, if it comes to your channel, I feel like you abandoned an established community in favor of a community that didn't exist yet. I'm sure you will do well eventually (if your Arknights videos are anything to go by - they were a blast btw), but you basically did a New Game+. But what do I know? As they say in my country "everyone's a general after the war ends".
Putting everything you got into your art and sharing it feels sometimes like stabbing your heart with a knife. I wish i could find some stories that relate more to my struggle as an unknown artist. But in most stories its always instant viral on the first try. Feeling unseen on social media and in general media is really tough.
Absolute Yiinema. I will be here every video of yours regardless of what the subject matter is because I see the worth, and the effort put in, keep cooking C:
Most of the video was good, but the copium you displayed almost at the end? Peak writing, I would literally gobble you complaining about your unfair content creation life and how arknights views made you feel like this so much. Can't wait for more, Yii!
I think the huge disparity between your old and new content might come down to content saturation. Your Arknights content hit a (almost) untapped niche in critical analysis. Most AK content creators are either just uploading clears or are overly positive/subjective. Your brought critical analysis that is almost unheard of in that creator space. The new stuff isn't bad, it's just a far more saturated niche and suffers from massive whiplash compared to your old content. Getting new viewership is much harder in a denser ecosystem and old views might be disenfranchised by the massive shift in content.
Yii-ppee🎉! I loved your conclusion, after all, maybe we're all gaslighting ourselves into thinking that metrics doesn't matters, we all seek for attention and approbation from the others ! Even if your views fell off from the AK vids I still love your work and I look forward watching your next projects ! (Even if it takes month that's okay, I re-watch your videos when I need a bit of Yii in my life :D)
After i watched it i'd think about music which i like, and there is some old tracks among them.... so there is possibility there is some absolute banger of a track out here which is in my alley and for all my life i will never ever listen to it, because it's just long ago fade away in obscurity. This is sad, but i suppose it just how thing works, stars didn't align or some other sh*t. Still on another side i one day finded your videos and it's align with me pretty good so far. This is just my thoughts after this video, keep up a good work and thank you for ~25 minutes of entertainment.
Nothing quite compares to that gut punch after you make a video and it doesn't do as well as you expected. But the end line speaks true, we do it cause it's fun. I learnt to measure myself internaly. Or was it intrinsicly. Probbly butchered the spelling. Point is, as nice as external validation is, it's not reliable. Instead I look at how my latest artwork turned out. How I did the shading. How I edited a video segment. And remember, guys, one man's trash is another one's treasure. Also, Girls Band Cry looks gorgeous. Like, holy shit, it's 3D but done so goddamn well it's a feast.
As someone who's also done it, the feeling you get when switching up the content you're known for only to get less traction is incredibly relateable. Even though I got to know you from Arknights, I've honestly been enjoying your recent uploads a lot and your thoughts on things. I feel like sometimes it's easy to be so used to getting BIG NUMBERs that it subconsciously becomes the metric which we judge our creations by, only to have it get slapped in our face when interests change and suddenly the land is barren. It can rly make you feel as if oh, maybe what I make is not actually good and was just carried by [insert trend here] but ultimately, the act of creating something is still a lot of effort. And despite the lack of reward, effort was made and everyone should be proud of that effort and there is still value to it. I hope you can still keep up your love for video making and always looking forward to the next upload!
In my opinion, making what you like and enjoy watching is the only true and good way to make art. The quote "People is inspired by what they like" is so true. Keep it up Yii! I enjoy your video
This really resonated with me, although I never created content. I do competitive programming, and we are given the same advice of, 'Do not care about your rating' and 'There's no shortcut to success, keep grinding'. While it is a wildly different field from content creation the feeling of caring about the rating stays the same. It feels good to see the numbers go up and you get disheartened when the number go down. Only the top 5-6%ile of people have something to show for it, for the rest it seems like a waste of time.
MARCO X YII COLLAB edit: Great vid. I love that this can also be applied to a lot more contexts, so I hope that the ppl that may have issues similar to those discussed in the video can draw their own conclusions about them. I'll be waiting for your next upload.
Wow, honestly this is better then your Arknights stuff, though I love the game. This video was really inspirational, might try my hand on video creation sometime truly. 👍
I did not expect to hear you rip apart Yakuza in this video! Probably all things that wouldn't bother me if I played the game, but I can appreciate the issues you have with it, as well as the fact that many of the issues could have been easily fixed.
I agree with the Infinite Wealth take, despite loving the gameplay and the characters, the story was a fucking flop. Never have I felt nothing from the end of a yakuza story aside from Aizawa, and 5 at the very least had other plots which had a satisfying conclusion. Infinite wealth had a single subplot that was good, and aside from it, the story failed to get any emotion out of me.
I guess i enjoy your character and not just the Arknights content, that's why i stayed to watch. But on the other hand i hate how you enjoy cute girls, as a cute girl hater i am absolutely disgusted by your takes on cute girls and what girls are, leave the mentally ill e girl alone already. But you're cool other than that, good one.
Hella good vid! I haven't finished Girl's Band Cry, but I did finish Jellyfish. Funnily enough I actually liked the perspective about creation in Jellyfish than GBC in regards of the internal turmoil ones goes through what leads to one creating in the first place and the personality needed to break through. Nina from GBC was indeed too naive. Poor thing gets hit with reality so hard, but I disliked a bit how everyone just gets influenced to continue because they believe in her regardless. Seems like they fixed that in the last episodes.
How to tell if a show is deep or not. The artstyle. If the facial features is just eyes and every other face part is as minimal as possible then it's going to be a shallow anime. If you squint your eyes and they look like any other anime then it's shallow.
As someone who used to watch you for Arknights content. I'm very glad you made the switch. It was obvious you didn't enjoy the game anymore, and it's hard to make videos on something you don't enjoy.
I'm glad you made the switch from Arknights. This content has been so good. Can't say I fully agree with Yakuza 8 points, I understand that I could never relate to it in the first place. I love Girls Band Cry. I never watched Jellyfish since I heard it kinda fell off after first few episodes
