Hunter captain was meant to be a unit that functioned like a tank in a MMORPG... A unit that attracts all the fire and then just doesn't die... Honestly I feel He can no longer do that because most recent nerfs... they should have nerfed his gun not his tankyness... Edit: Every time I use him Against people who know what their doing... He gets melted in 5 seconds flat by ONLY 2 hero units...
As a more veteran player I feel like making videos on how to effectivly play the early, mid and late game would be better for beginners than a rush build but this was a great video I might need to try these tips too
Zane Cruse you won’t improve by watching these videos your better off watching Liam white or even yodas past broadcasts on twitch if you want to get better
Some points that I think should have been on the spotlight imo.. Skitterers deal damage but you didn't emphasize that, when attached, give max health and attack by their own. Vehicles and structures, including skitterers before being attached, get both armor AND range boost if you use the power. So a boosted skitterer will attack farther away. Combat repair is % max hp healing. The more hp, the more actual healing. Both things combine if used on units, adding more hp (combat repair consequently gets even more effective) and independent attacks with good range. On Captain they're awesome, on Elites and Hunters they're very good when you fortify infantry, but 3 buffed skitterers on a Scarab with repairs gets quite terrifying Buffing towers also gives more range, and that includes the radar tower (can't remember the name) for longer detection Because turrets can get buffed, I often lure their army into my well-buffed base so they end up getting wreckt by powers and my own army. Because of the skitterers, an early game army of engineers+skitterers usually makes an allied army quite invincible. That works the same way with the (idk name) support air unit that defends against missiles, nullifying anti-air rockets quite a bit. People tend to spam air or anti-air, so doing that literally makes your ally's full pop army of banshees go anywhere they want with very low harm. Colony can even be, like this, a very aggressive support, which makes it so versatile that I only use Colony in every game. Can't love it more than thiz
Also, upgrades. Infantry upgrades affects infantry, including grunts and goliaths. By the same rule, as they are vehicles, skitterers get improved by vehicle upgrades. The garage on Colony can be quite the all-around army building if you include skitterers in there and get upgrades, barely and rarely leaving you with the need to include infantry or air units into your army. Damn this leader is amazing
Plus, Hunter Captain's weapon is a laser. Attacks in a small aoe (decimates multi-unit infantry), lifesteals (sustaining along combat repairs), and even slows (the arrow-down icon on an attacked enemy indicates it's getting slowed). Because it's an instant laser, its weapon does not fail, not even while moving: the captain is even more of a monster when fortified
Colony is an especially good leader (my favourite), but is especially vulnerable to snipers. Whether you go for a hunter captain or goliaths, sniper units can wipe you out easily.

The Hunter Captain is awesome I love him my brother once used him to challenge 2 full pop armies and they didn't even take down his shields so in conclusion Colony is hands down best leader
Thanks for this guide, colony is my go to when I wanna just play the game and vibe abit but I was stumped on how to do a Goliath rush but thanks to this I know how to, me personally I go for veichle with symboite. Just lockdown my base and all my tanks, reavers and skitter get it while my base and buildings (depends on level of the symbiote.) then I attach them to it.
Personally for the early rush, it’s easily countered by flame troops. So I build a bunch of suicide grunts to help take that out. Usually guarantees a success unless teammates come to the rescues
When I first got Halo wars 2 I was opening blitz packs (Cause I didn’t know what blitz was) and the moment I saw the hunter captain card I was like “Yes, I Love it” and I have mained colony ever since lol
Probably not a good idea. The idea is to keep Blisterbacks out of range to keep them safe so putting a Skitterer that can't attack is a bad idea. Probably better to put in your reavers or wraiths.
From personal experience I've actually found that foregoing the skitterers on the Hunter Captain is overall better because he actually doesn't seem to get a health boost from them unlike other units. On that note some units benefit more from skitters than others. Choppers, rangers, engineers and shrouds seem to get huge health boosts compared to others. Goliaths benefit both health and damage wise from 1-2 skitters (I usually do 1) and reavers need any health you can give em. Lastly wraiths are awesome but somewhat bugged where the first skitterer gives a small health boost but the second one doesn't give any until like a min or more later when it'll actually give it an even better buff than the first. Oh and symbiotes are a little dissapointing cuz supposedly they only buff health like 10 percent. Don't ignore them but definitely don't prioritize em.
. I know your not defending the HC but its just not really worth it, percentage wise on him when you can use those skitterers to drastically boost the health of other units.
@@alexreyes7237 hey man, you do you. Just saying that skitterers just might not be as effective on him as we all assumed, myself included. Might be worth a mythbusters episode, I could be wrong. But whenever I put skitterers on any other unit you can visually see and count the additional health units whereas on HC I don't.
