@@nullakjg767 Mexican jumping beans are seed pods that have been inhabited by the larva of a small moth and are native to Mexico. The "bean" is usually tan to brown. It "jumps" when mildly heated. They are from the shrub Sebastiania pavoniana, often also referred to as "jumping bean". They are not put in there, it's just what a certain type of moth does to reproduce.

I believe its a wasp larvae that lives in the bean till maturity. When it gets too hot, it "jumps" by flexing to get to a cooler spot.

And as a Scotsman and also Brit, we invented it and it goes back to Pagan times in Scotland and Ireland and the Celtic Brits. It is a celebration of the dead. Lanterns which were made from Turnips in Scotland and became Pumpkins in the states, which are put outside houses to show your ancestors the way home to your house. It's just now Halloween has been taken over by the commercial American version of it and it's only about dressing up etc. It's very much a celebration of the dead in origin and in Scotland now

The infamous "Mexican jumping beans" are seed pods from a shrub in Mexico that moth larvae make their home. When the seed pod heats up the larvae inside will jump about trying to find a cooler spot.

They had Mexican jumping beans when I was a kid. They're a certain kind of bean that gets a worm in it and the worm moves around making the bean move. Usually, kids don't know about the worm, they just see the bean moving around without anyone touching it.

There are Mexican jumping beans. Back in 70's up here in Canada we could buy them at the checkout cash at every grocery store. There's a larvae that was laid into the fresh bean and when it hatches it jumps inside the dry bean.

Yes, Mexican jumping beans are a real thing. They are beans that have a larva inside of them, and they move about sporadically, causing the bean to "jump". Here in Oklahoma you can find them in novelty shops and gift shops. They come in a little square plastic box with a clear lid so you can see them jumping around. The next time I come around a shop that sells them, I would be more than happy to get a box for you and Rondo and send them to ya!

The jumping beans are actually a thing, tho it's not really a bean. An insect lays it's egg in a nut and when the larvae develops it jumps around. Bought one from a souvenir stand at a place my parents and I visited when I was a kid.

I ordered some Mexican Jumping Beans from the back of a comic book back in the late 70's. They really jumped around. Later in life I found out that inside of the beans were larvae of moths. The beans jumped around for about a week at most.

The damn beans do exist lol, I've owned them before. It's just a bean with a little worm inside, and when the worm twitches, the bean jumps. This video was hilarious. Thanks so much for bringing an idiot abroad into my life.

I bought some jumping beans when I was a kid. They have a worm inside. Set them in the sun and when they heat up, the worm starts thrashing inside. Because of the irregular shape of the bean, instead of rolling it jumps around.

I saw several baskets full of Mexican Jumping Beans in Tijuana Mexico in 1994 outside stores full of tourist wares, blankets, ponchos, knock off watches... The Jumping beans are seed pods that have moth larvae in them and when in the sun the grub inside knocks violently causing the pod to jump with a click noise. I'm surprised no one knew about them that Carl asked.

A Mexican jumping bean is a bean like seed with a bug larva in it. You held it in the palm of your hand and the larva inside would twitch and the bean would kind of bounce around. You used to see a lot of those things back in the 1950s. People would buy them as souvenirs.

from Wiki - Mexican jumping beans (also known as frijoles saltarines in Spanish) are seed pods that have been inhabited by the larva of a small moth (Cydia saltitans) and are native to Mexico. The "bean" is usually tan to brown in color. It "jumps" when mildly heated.

Mexican jumping beans are real. They are seed pods that have been inhabited by the larva of a small moth that is native to Mexico. The pod is usually tan to brown. It moves or jumps when mildly heated as the lava tries to escape the heat and prevent a premature death.
