Ah ha! Just recently, the portuguese cut was covered in our rock community by two different people and videos made about it. I thought it was a beautiful cut which added extra brilliance to a stone but i didnt understand why. I just knew it was beautiful. And after hearing you explain the cut and seeing it on that very large stone, where you can easily see the facets through the table, can i truly understand what this cut can do to enhance a stone. Thank you!
Thanks for your show. I've been in the colored stone trade for decades and have just now started faceting. This makes a lot of sense to me and is something that I will be trying. I can see how this is useful in pastel colors and likely in colorless material like rock crystal, goshenite and danburite as well.
Ooooh! This is really intriguing!

Excellent video ~ I knew I loved this cut, but now I know why. Thanks for filling in the gaps, Justin.

So beautiful.
Agreed
I'll try this cut the very next time I'm cutting a Round cut.
Hi Justin, your explanation is excellent. What are the angles you used for this cut?
Wow! Love this! Do you sell stones in this cut, or could I send you rough to have it cut in the star cut?
Yes I could definitely cut one for you. Send me an email : Justin k prim at gmail dot com.
Nice 😊🩷🩵💜
Hi justin
Same principle in the Zircon Cut.
As far as I know though the zircon cut came a bit later. The earliest one I’ve seen is the book of gem cuts vol 1 which is from the mid 40s I think.
