However, many of those you meet in recovery are similar to Chris in this scene. They repeat 12-step mantras that they have no intention of following themselves and wear their participation in a program as some sort of morality vest made of teflon. I guess you could argue that if this keeps them sober, that's all that matters but still, it's incredibly sanctimonious and imo, taints all 12-step programs.
I stayed away from drinking and getting high the longest when I went to NA meetings, I think it is one of the best long term solutions for recovering addicts.
