How to Make a Faux Leather Gingerbread House Christmas Ornament with a Cricut

- In this video I'll show you how to make this festive Faux Leather Gingerbread House Ornament using faux leather, heat transfer vinyl, and a Cricut. This is a great Cricut Christmas craft perfect for Cricut beginners. I'll show you how to cut faux leather with your Cricut cutting machine and then how to apply layers of heat transfer vinyl to faux leather to create this festive holiday decoration for your home. I'll also show you how to create your own custom text to personalize this ornament for friends and family.

Love the design! Have you ever tried using The Dollar Tree Faux leather to see what cut settings should be used? I made one of your other ornaments using the faux leather, paper thin setting and used "more" pressure. It ended up cutting into the cutting mat. I'm assuming (now) that the Dollar Tree Faux leather is thinner than the one you used? Would love to see a video showing what you think of the DT faux leather. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for your message! I haven't tried it - whenever I go, my store doesn't have any. :( I would say try with default pressure in that case. You can also decrease the overall pressure for your Faux Leather (Paper Thin) setting by editing the material setting. You can do that in the Materials selection screen. Click on Browse all Materials, then scroll to the bottom and click on Material Settings in green on the left. Then find your faux leather setting and drag the pressure down. You can also change it from a double cut (2x) to a single cut. I hope that helps!

Hi Amy I've been trying to figure out what glue you us I looked at my last year earrings and that glue did not hold the earrings together they are tacky and spread apart I used let's just say what glue do you use I'd like to make some earrings that don't fall a part thank you for sharing all your Christmas designs I'm glad to hear your husband is doing have better a happy New Year!😊
Hi, Connie! For the ornaments I used Beacon Fabri-Tac. I generally don't use glue for earrings because I don't do double sided earrings a lot. If you want to do double sided, I would recommend using Heat n' Bond in-between the layers rather than glue. I have a video showing that technique here: ruclips.net/video/Q1IK6EfA6c8/видео.html

Hi Amy, Thank you, this is a great project and I'm going to make it this weekend. I had a question though, you say to mirror your mats, but it looks like nothing happens when you mirror the brown leather mat the pieces don't seem to change. Are they already set up to cut on faux leather or did I really miss something here? Thanks
Hi, Tammy! Great question! So the gingerbread house base has two parts - the brown front and the brown back. These two shapes are already mirror images of each other - one has the chimney on the left and one on the right. When you mirror that mat, each shape flips and the chimneys switch sides, but you still have two mirrored shapes - one with a chimney on the left and one with a chimney on the right. So mirroring the mat doesn't really do anything and you're right, it doesn't look any different in Design Space. :)
