At almost 60yrs old, I’ve been loving piña colada as long as I can remember and been able to drink. As for answering your question at the beginning of your “show” just keep doing what you are doing. Your enthusiasm rubs off on me and probably others interested in rums and what you can do with them
Watched the first show, just diving into this one. I've missed Sundays lives! However, these are fantastic, I may have to have a little tipple next week and watch the premiere! Cheers Steve, hoping for a ton of success with your channel going forward!
Hey mate, glad you're well. Still split testing as Normal videos vs Premiere Videos. Analytics on this one is better as a Video so far, but still a few more tests to do.
I’m a massive proponent of making highballs with Fever Tree Lime Soda and now their recently released Mojito mixer, which is very similar and has the mint flavour in it already. I’m Cuba, the Mojito is not served on crushed ice. That’s an American thing. A mojito in Cuba is essentially a Tom Collins, with rum instead of gin, lime instead of lemon, and a sprig of mint roughly agitated in the glass, and if you’re in a fancy place, an extra one in the top for garnish. The lime sodas make perfect sense. You don’t need sugar syrup, you don’t need lime, you just need a nice long mint sprig going down the side of the ice. They’re quick, easy and consistent. Are they as good as the best mojitos I’ve had? No. Are the better than 95% it mojitos I’ve had? Absolutely.
That’s how I make mine! Keep it simple and be mindful of the sweetness and flavour of the ingredients. Anytime I can swap out ingredients or eliminate them and keep the integrity of the cocktail and make it delicious I am all for it!
Hello Steve. This Plantation Barbados Cuba must be very good, I will have to try it. It's nice to offer us the rums that we would like to discover. For some time I have been interested in ron from Latin America ( Especially those with little or no added sugar ), which I find very good and tasty. Here are some that you want to introduce to us, I'm interested because I know you know them well. Well done 🍸
Ha. Of course it’s “Hot”. Even at 40% stuff tastes quite alcoholic you know! 😇😂 I know so many get used to “Cask Strength” and love higher ABV stuff. I do too. I’ve got 2 whites at 64% that I love. But I still realise they’re quite alcoholic!
I tried making a frozen mojito, to see if it was better than my frozen Dew'garita. It was alright, but I still prefer a traditional mojito, but on a really hot day, Dew'garita is more refreshing. Mint has a cooling effect, but so does a sour drink. Mojitos are pretty good, especially if you don't want a sour.
I see DrinkStuff have ODK's Mojito syrup (includes lime) in stock so I'd be curious how that compares to Monin's? Hint, hint, nudge, nudge 😜 I'm looking forward to the other Arcane reviews 👍 Cheers Steve
I haven't forgotten. There's actually a few Mojito experiments/videos coming. I purposely didn't mention one mixer here (Someone else has already mentioned it in comments) but it's coming out to play in testing soon.
Not sure if you mentioned this (I was listening while doing something else so I could have missed it) but doesn't the fact that people are searching for "how to make a margarita" mean that they don't make them often enough to not need to look it up? I mean if margaritas were that popular wouldn't everyone already be familiar with making them?
Kinda. But don’t forget sales volumes come into account too. For example, in the UK, we know that the Pornstar is actually one of the biggest cocktails, simply because of Sales volumes of Passoa. But then I’ll get a few thousand views a week on old videos from people searching how to make it. Doesn’t detract the fact that the PSM sells a crapload! (That’s without those that don’t make it with Passoa).
What if you did something that takes drinks with other based sports and turned them into rum drinks. One called the Southern Gentleman calls for monkey shoulder scotch, I wonder what rum could you swap to give it justice.
Yeah. That’s a great shout. I went down that kinda rabbit hole in 2022. Always come back the Bramble. But I like that. Great little potential segment. 👍👍

I haven’t finished watching the entire video yet but really like the format.
Crack on then... 😂
Excellent my friend, very interesting. Cheers!
Thanks for the watch! Glad you enjoyed!
I absolutely love the diplomatico blanco for my mojitos!

As i say, it's great in the market it plays in. Its not up there with £35+ Rums, but as a cheaper drinkable and mixing Rum, its great!
I like using Rhum Barbancourt white now in a mojito. I find the rhum on it’s own to be hot even though it’s less than 59% ABV.

Sounds great! But, to be fair, Crushed Ice is as Frozen as i'll ever go with a Mojito!
@StevetheBarmanUK it was a novel experiment. A frozen Hurricane is great though. Like an orange popsicle.

ED12 still showing out! Lol❤

PS. I absolutely guarantee the “Southern Gentleman” derived from Southern Comfort…so it’s not even Scotch to start with 😂
If you want someone to try rum. You give them a) a glass b) some quality aged rum. Simple.
😂😂😂
