I saw this live at FAI and I cried and I still can't listen to this without crying.
I'm a cis woman. So, before I was a woman, I was a girl. And before that, a toddler.
I NEVER heard this type of message about women growing up. My mother brought up botox when I was 14, and her greatest ambition for me was that I would get married and have children and maybe work as a newscaster.
Nobody on my mother's side celebrated femininity. So the image of little Flamy sitting in church and coming to idolize these biblical women... Hits me in a way that I don't know how to describe. It was always understood that girls would respect and revere men, not the other way around. This song re-opens the twisted wound of that lesson, straightens me out, and then bandages me up with the kisses on my boo-boo that I needed but never got.

I just discovered you! WOW - I love you music. I am a queer singer song writer myself. I sing about all kinds of stuff, Christian, Pagan, filk, originals, world music, anything that inspires me.
