This isn't about Kat liking both men and women. We knew she was bisexual, but this is about Kat owning a label. Kat deciding on labels is apart of her character growth: it's the reason there was a whole episode about her identifying as black. Kat runs from labels and to watch her own one should be the important and empowering part of the episode. Kat is bisexual and she said it outloud.
I am bisexual married to a trans male and I am biracial. My mother is white from Scotland and my father is American black. If you look at my profile pic on Facebook or any other social media I look 100% Hispanic or some say Filipino. The problem I have with this show is the rules don't apply for everyone. It's like when the episode aired where she basically identified as black, which is her choice no one is questioning that, but when I do that, especially here in the south, people are quick to let me know that I'm not. I wish the Bold type would have a more realistic view of the biracial conversation. Because it is not as cut-and-dry as they make it to be in that episode. I have to defend my blackness and prove that I'm not ashamed of it all the time here where I live.

I completely disagree for the fact that female bisexuality is such a norm and being actually lesbian isnt. Obviously its great if someones what ever sexuality they are or figure out but I never get to see lesbians on tv that dont sleep with men at some point, Its always straight ppl being straight. Bisexual ppl being bi and gay men being gay but lesbians always either cheat or sleep with a guy or both. I just want a lesbian thats a lesbian for once. Its like tv cant make a feminine lesbian playing an iconic role and keep her to that sexuality. If you say ur lesbian then find out ur bi awesome but its so overdone in movies and shows.
I completely disagree for the fact that bisexual and lesbian women both were used for male gaze in most series and movies. Nowadays if you look at the actual good characters, they are rarely bi, they are usually women who realise that they are actually lesbian. They usually talk about men in a bad way, and men are usually douschebags in these scenarios. Which is just silly. Bisexuality usually is used as a tool to realise that the character is actually lesbian. In real life this happens often too. Lesbians don't like bisexual women
I just watched the episode, wanted to rewatch the scene cause I felt like I missed something... AND I DID! *SUTTON* IS WEARING A *BLUE SHIRT* AND *JANE* IS WEARING A *PINK ONE* !! I ALREADY NOTICED THE SOFA WAS PURPLE SO IT FITS PERFECTLY!!
You're all missing the point. She thought she was bisexual, then lesbian, then now she's coming to terms with who she is not who she thinks she is or who other people want her to be. It's not lazy writing. She said it once in s1, that doesn't make it established. It took me 24 years to figure out I was a lesbian, establishing myself with different labels until I was finally ready to be truly honest with myself. This is what she's doing now, it's about finding herself again in a different more grown-up way.
I believe they are pushing too hard on Kate's bisexuality unnecessarily, we already know that she is bisexual. The point is how understanding, behavior and relationships will be worked out. It is more than clear that Kate has more loving affinity with women than that with men and that she loves Adena and she feels insecure in resuming the relationship for fear that Kate will leave her, exchange her for a man. This conflict happens a lot in real life, when a lesbian woman dates a bisexual girl. how the characters will deal with this situation.
@@mauropedagogo No, it's important that they push her bisexuality because bisexuals in TV, Movies, and in real life are labeled as gay, lesbian, or a straight person "going through a phase". Bisexuals are also labeled as all promiscuous people who can't "pick a side". Bisexuals are happy that we're FINALLY getting positive representation.

Okay. I started watching this series because of season 1 episode 4 actually when Kat and Adena kissed. Now, I don't know what happened to this show but I feel like they are trying to cover too many areas all at once. Seasons 1 and 2 are the best.
She was already bisexual ... s1ep8. Kat stipulates her affinity for men and women. This is just lazy writing. I don’t mind exploring bisexuality but don’t rewrite show history. Like to also point out that in the previous mentioned episode Kat and Adena joke about Kat going about on a date. And Adena asked man or woman. Adena did not show any biphobia toward Kat.
That's what's so corny about this lazy writing. I'm like over her search & exploration and labels too. Bold Type is trying to out bold itself. It's a faux shock-factor that's bothersome. The part that makes Adena seems biphobic seems so contrived for a wannabe deep storyline. Fell short. At this point I only watch for Sutton and Adena. I can't with the other two mains this season, equally annoying + Ryan (annoying). I like Oliver and Jaqueline too
