Very much appreciate the positive comments guys . It is a lot of work and a lot of fun too. I always say working in these is a cross between a labor of love and exercise in craziness. This is both ! Come join us next year for Model A Days, the expansion will be complete and we will have the new shop/learning center completed. I do need a start up for next year so let me know if you have something. Many Many thanks for all your support, and an enormous shout out to Paul and Tina Shinn for all their talents and efforts to make all of this available and in recorded history. A work of art in itself!
"They want to run." No truer words have been spoken. In 1949 my Grandfather and Great-uncle built the first Firetruck for the small town that I grew up in. They used a 1929 Model AA truck and had a tank built to make it into a pumper. When asked why they used a 20 year old truck, they said, "A Model A will always start." The city sold it, my father tracked it down years later and bought it back. My oldest brother now owns it. He is a retired professional firefighter, and when he first got the job, my Dad figured he should own a firetruck since that was his profession. I wonder where I get my love for Model A's from.
Kudos to Larry and his crew for keeping the heartbeat alive in the old Fords!!! I bet you were ready to jump right in Model A Guy so Larry handed you the carburetor….lol. Great video
@@ModelA,Paul you da man. Keep these videos coming. The museum expansion is going well. For everyone watching you can see the work on our expansion camera. Thanks for putting the museum in your videos.
Nice job on both Model A's, lots of good info being given there during this seminar. Larry sure does have a commanding presence and of course knows his stuff. Have a good evening and Sunday too!
Ed, It is all a labor of love! It is great to share experience's and I know that Paul is committed to that and I as well. Have done many seminars and we all ( me included) learn things along the way. All the best! come find me if you make it to a meet or Model A Days.
Ed Thanks! I enjoy doing it and we bring some guys together to help. I steer the ship! and in the process we get an "A" running which has been sitting dormant far too long.
Great work! Can you imagine trying to get a 2024 car running after sitting for 60 years??!That's why these As will go on forever. Thanks go out to all .
@@LarryShepard-m4k I know you have been doing this successfully for 30 plus years…but it also seems to be growing in popularity (heck I am watching from Canada). I also think a few bollards to separate the over enthusiastic audience (can’t blame them for being interested) and the guys actually doing the wrenching would be an asset. I imagine the Shinn’s, acting as camera people, could attest that camera view points were sometimes “challenging” and a roped-off area may have helped.
I wish! Problem is, with so many interested people trying to have a look, they walk right in front of your camera and park their heads in front of the shot. I tried filming some of last year's First Start from ground level. Wasn't happening. Sometimes, I think people walk in front of my camera ON PURPOSE!!
I love the old Ford pickups. If I had the money a pickup and the professor Fate, Great Leslie car from the movie the Great Race 1965 would be mine. Thanks for the video.
Fantastic 1 hour plus video, installing new kitchen cabinets and listening to the video. Larry does a great job on these first starts, The Gilmore is number one for car folks. KY Ken, Happy Thanksgiving week, We The People have a lot to be grateful and happy about.
@@ModelAPaul I hope so. We are close to completing a complete remodel of our house, it’s been a long journey with hiccups. Like you we hold down a small business and work way too many hours.
YES we do have a lot to be thankful for this thanksgiving..... I am also thankful for the wonderful Model A community and family we have, locally and nationwide.
I'm about half way through (a lot going on this morning). Wonderful video, but I have to give a shout out to Mrs. Shinn! How in the world can she hold the camera that still for that long?! That's quite an arm workout. I'll edit when I'm finished but want to thank you now for this. ~ Chuck
Good morning. I had to do a lot of cleaning up of the fuel system on my 29 Tudor when I got it. I had to remove the fuel tank and clean it out. Full of junk and rust. I cleaned the carb with an ultrasonic cleaner and it still wouldn't start. It looked like it was getting fuel. I checked the ignition system and I had to change the ignition switch and the ammeter. In the end I had to remove the casting for the sediment bowl and clean corrosion out of the middle of the passageway. Then it got enough fuel and spark to run. Now it starts up right away.

Charles, love your comment, Joe true. Todays cars with except for a few will never be reatored.
Thanks for posting !!
Thank you Paul for all rhe videos and the easy explanations.
You got it, man!
Be cool to have a camera above engine looking down. Kind of like the ones at a football stadium. Great video!
Or a mirror overhead.
At least Larry gives a great narration to compensate for the lack of visuals.
Jason , great idea , we have done that on one of our local ones before ….. thanks for the suggestion . Very much appreciated

I have a 28 pickup and it’s a lot of fun to drive but I’d trade it in a heartbeat for a 30-31 pickup!
Little more room n the 30/31's

I forgot to say that it was sitting for about 60 years @@ModelA
@@camino6431 Do you still have it? Larry is on the hunt for next year's "first start" patient.

Excellent!!
Paul, can you explain what the heck happened here?
Barely. Two Model As that have been sitting for decades were made to start for the first time since getting parked.
Incredible to watch Larry and his crew perform Model A magic!
