You're right! Set # 9476. I thought I paid attention to LOTR sets back in the day but I totally missed this one. I'll deduct 70 AFOL points from my tally!
Someone did a side by side comparison of this and the Lions Knight castle. It really made the castle look like the best value, as it is like you said very dense and has a lot more play features. Both are beautiful in their own ways but that extra piece count is most very small pieces for the extra detail the Rivendale set has. I am not too thrilled about the roof treatment, but I can see why this is a must have for any LOTR fan. It also has more detailed and unique minis, but they are all one faction, The Lions knight wins out here since it has 4 different types of minis as 2 types knights, forestmen, and city dwellers. There is just so much more potential for dynamic play ability. There also seems to be a lot more MOC potential as well. Its super cool though that LEGO is making these hallmark sets though and practically need to beg them to make more. The lions knight castle got me to buy LEGO again after 25 years! No other set they have could have done that, I think its the best they have ever released.
Yeah, I'm still waiting for a proper castle theme again, but I picked up Lion Knights Castle early on and it's one of my favorite sets they've ever released!
@@worldtreesagas YesI am trying to wait paitently for a full debut of several sets of all sizes to the scale and quality of the Lions knight castle. Its the castle I always wanted as a child. I see another GWP on the way but that is a bit disheartening that they keep doing this and limits how well they can build it up. Thankfully they both can coesist somewhat in the same realm so there are options, but I would rather get a 2nd castle and Moc a middle section to a large courtyard and tower for throne room, and great hall.
Agree with what you’re saying. I think fortunately this set it gonna sell like crazy. I’ve got my alarm set for 11:59 tonight so I can hopefully get one before they sell out.
This set isn't going to sell out immediately. ITs 500 dollars and we are moving towards a recession. I love this set myself and I'm glad I was able to get one, but my goodness it wasn't exactly selling out at my local Lego store, like the Bugle or Office set did and those were also highly anticipated.
I understand your perspective. we got a pretty huge portion of Rivendell but I know some people wanted all of it. but I'm so excited to get this I'm going to purchase this day one. its Huge and so much attention to detail.
@@worldtreesagas ya I understand. I would also like to see some more affordable sets. I think a good one could be a lego nazghaul and witch king figure and awen for like 20$ :)
LoTR is definitely one of the best films/books in my opinion. Although this set is expensive it’s more than likely in a few years when it is discontinued it will appreciate in value so it’s not as though people are throwing their money out the window. For me personally it’s a set which I think I’m going to get value out of as I plan on having this for a VERY long time to come. Lego should come out with some cheaper sets though for people who can’t afford to pay for a set as expensive as this or at least come up with finance options.
Completely agree.. These Lego ambassadors say it's worth it... Really that's like a cost of a computer..I also don't like that they're holding consumers by the throat. . You want more.. Pay up now... It's like they're trying to make us feel guilty
Totaly agre, but dont forget lego is greedy, just compare other sets for 500 as lion castle, yu get such a great castle and this rivendell is just as harry poterr sets but with so more details... its goibg to sell but i must agree, i am also a bit disapointed. If this was not lotr set i would not buy.
You're right! People love it BECAUSE it's LOTR, because it's a familiar beautiful location, and it has the entire Fellowship. If it were just a generic castle it would probably not get much attention.
7:50 is actually a lego set that was released in 2012 I think. It is called ,,the orc forge"

Just finished building wife and I took 9 hrs with Both of us working on it. Masterpiece of a set
Aww I wish my wife would build with me! So happy to hear you loved the building experience. I hope I can get it one day!

btw your idea for the dwarf towers battle pack is pretty good

I've been back and forth on it. I WANT it but I also know what my wife's face will look like when it arrives. Ha!
Do you think it will sell out fast, or will it still be available for a while?
@@jannertheigiby720 Such a good question! I expect it will be on backorder by late March, like the A-frame Cabin in February. But I don't know!

The set looks way bigger in person
Good! I know online images can be deceiving. Did you get it today?
@@worldtreesagas yeah I was lucky enough to get it! They had it built in the window and I was glad to see it was bigger than I expected
@KerioFive that's awesome! It looks like such a fun build!

It is a beautiful set. My bigger issue about Lego's attitude toward more LOTR sets is where they've really got it backwards!

It sold out day 1! Lol
Safe to say more are coming.
Wow! Had to verify myself and yup, that set is a winner!
Okay, I guess I can put my concerns to rest!
@@worldtreesagas So can I. Cheers!
There was probably 60 people lined up before my Lego store opened
Oh wow! I seriously hope this sells as well as they need, so that sounds promising.

@@worldtreesagas Incorrect. Many people have purchased the set because of its appearance, not because they are fans of LOTR.
Imagine Lion castle was helms deep. It would be sold out instantly.
@@SirDanomen maybe that's true.
@@PangXueYu yes. Never buying Helms Deep is one of my biggest Lego regrets! I would love a huge version of that set!
