    I love how they're all humble and cheer each other on at the end. Such good sportsmanship and that's rare.

    Kipping pullups absolutely make pullups easier to do. But that's why you add more pullups.
    You say that you want to see someone deadlift 900 pounds, then you'll consider them comparable to a professional athlete. All that means is you think that Crossfit is amatuer weightlifting. Show me five people from the NBA, NFL, NHL combined that deadlift that much.
    Professional Crossfitters are experts at what they do. Your opinion doesn't change that. Crossfit is a sport in its own right.

    James B is correct in what he stated regarding the different types of pull-ups. But they do at least 3 different types: strict (not done as often in the official competitions it seems), chest to bar, and chin to bar. He was a bit inaccurate about the type of pull-up they were doing in this workout as they were doing chin to bar, not chest to bar.

    Mad respect for these guys. I tried doing their workouts n nearly died,lol

    i think he means, thats its hard to correct the butterfly/kipping pullup, because the are fast and you cant rly see as a judge if the athlete pulled high enough. sry if my english is bad im from germany

    It really annoys me when people think that strict pullups are the only type of pullups that should count.
    What's the definition of a pullup? To go from arms locked out hanging below the bar, to chin above the bar. Every athlete in this video did that 125 times in this video. Post a video of you doing 125 pullups please.

  • @jaydeebee24
    @jaydeebee24 11 лет назад

    Well they do two different types of pull-ups. The strict pull-up that everyone knows, and the chest to bar pull-up (also known as a kipping pull-up), which is what they're doing here.

  • @JohnKonye
    @JohnKonye 11 лет назад

    Define a pull up... Everyone is actively pulling themselves up to the bar... they are simply using momentum by using the "Butterfly" technique allowing them to do more reps at a time... Just like using a dip drive to press more weight or using a Jerk to get even more weight over head... Learn up!

      +badmeetsevi12345 seriously the only thing bad in crosfit is the tech for the pull ups. Why are you supporting such a disgrace form in such a beautiful sport as crossfit?

    • @davidmiles8384
      @davidmiles8384 9 лет назад

      badmeetsevi12345 i know that no self respecting man or woman would call those pull ups. Those are just shorty kippers that destroy your rotator cuffs. I don't care let them keep doing it, in the future we'll be able to weed out the former xfit tards by the slew of debilitating injuries they have.
      What kind of sport takes lifts that are usually done for 1RM and with extreme time and preparation and decide to say 'ok now see how many of these you can do in x amount of time!'
      Definitely isn't motivation for injury, not at all. /s

      David Miles Well said, poor state of mind. I can tell most of the information is from things said by most people rather than experience.

  • @senorgato70

    Not sure what anyone else thinks, but I don't think that Josh's pullups should have been counted as reps. It appears that many times, his chin did not reach the level of the bar (and actually, I believe the chin is supposed to be above the level of the bar). His judge was very generous at least in my opinion.

    the logic that you should always do strict pullups is like saying you should always do overhead press and never jerk or push press. Each has its place.

    • @Monscent
      @Monscent 4 года назад

      Roflmao. There is zero reason to do flopping pullups except to get "MORE REPS". Its like doing chest-bouncing bench presses. Stupid.

    I doubt all of those people weigh 300 pounds and live in their moms basement. maybe like 1 out of every 6 people that say that, but im sure most people that are saying that actually do pullups, and look on that like why am I not there.

  • @ngg971

    I'm not that impressed with Bridges. He has a big advantage with his short arms and relatively low body weight. Plus his chin was barely clearing on the pullups, compared to the other athletes.

    • @romanwagner4001
      @romanwagner4001 9 лет назад

      crossfit favors no one, there were workouts that favored the taller person and workouts that favored the shorter person, that's why they had a row in the beginning of the workout. Josh Bridges was just the better man on this workout

    • @camerongray7767

      He fractured his other wrist while doing a handstand walk, and still wanted to compete, so he snatched 70kg with 1 hand.

  • @snipeshowisaboss
    @snipeshowisaboss 11 лет назад

    Stop bullshitting, we both know the difference between pull ups and kipping pull ups. One is letting momentum do the work for you while the other is a controlled movement that requires quite a bit of strength.

  • @ahahahahahahahahaa

    It's like curling with your back, cheating, making it easier to do, hence rendering the results incomparable with actual pull-ups. I'd also like to see you deadlift 900 pounds, if you can do that I'll show you how I compare to PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES. God I don't know where some people come up with these arguments, "go do what they do or you're just wrong". Are you going to yell at the judges too for not counting a rep since the judge can't do what the athlete is doing? Unbelievably stupid.
