He used the word" umunna" without knowing what it meant. Anything associated with umunna is not for sale. It is jointly owned. If you want to buy land, you contact commercial land sellers.
An Igbo man should go and organise a discussion on Iand purchase in Igbo land on Arise Tv to debunk what has been said by Reuben Abati. Arise Tv is owned by an Igbo man from Delta State or Anioma, Nduka Obaigbena. You Mr Paul can do that.
Sir, Abati is 100% correct, igbos don't sell land for personal use, try only sell to banks and churches. No business person outside igbo land owns personal houses,
My dad told me that when he was working in Imo state, as a Federal government civil servant, and he wanted to buy 2 plots of land there in 1985 and Igbo land owners refused to sell land to him directly! That was in 1985. Therefore, what Dr Abati said is right. If my own dad did not tell me that story, I wouldn't believe what Dr Abati said.
You and your useless father are fools. Mention his name and the establishment he worked. The owner or owners of the land as well as exact location of the land for factual verification. Bigots
Exactly the point..have u checked on your own?...That was how the said it was an " Igbo coup"...Redeem church ,deper life. Rcc, wimners and their pastors own houses in nukes and crannies of every Igbo town...but looks u guys likes disseminating false information.I found out it is inborn in most u guys.

Ogbeni do you know that quoting someone verbatim can send you to jail even when the supposedly individual you are quoting is not there to confirm the reported speech.
How did his quote correlate with the issue of the Akpabio’s extolling the Igbos as entrepreneurial and resilient? Abati had bring that stupid quote to dilute the praises of the Igbo people.
Just give us a list of verifiable people who bought land in Igbo land that is not for commercial purposes or Church. And for people saying the person that wants to buy didn't approach the right people, I can tell you whoever is bold enough to sell land to strangers will be deemed an outcast and be labeled a traitor. But here in the west you will even see an Igbo man doing estate business selling Yoruba land to Yorubas
He did not only embarrased himself but also disrespected her vo worker by saying "Stupid and Nonesence" . Firstly he said "Umunna" properly that belongs to Umunna is never for sale unless they jointly decided to sell it with reasons known to them. Secondly, it could be sold if after sharing the property and one decided to sell his.
I even feel TOS Benson was misquoted. In my part of Igbo land, such request to buy land and build for the wife is interpreted as divorce. So TOS Benson would inadvertently be telling his in-laws he is divorcing his wife. Same interpretation is found in all Igbo communities. Meanwhile, it beats my imagination how those who are Igbo phobic contradict themselves at every turn. Is it possible for people who are purported to love money to the extent they can sell mother suddenly refuse to sell mere land to non-indigene? So much trash have been spewed, and would continue to be spewed against the Igbos. However, none of the false accusations correctly defines the identity and character of the Igbos. Rather, it defines the character of their haters
All I want to see is the statistics of lands and properties owned by non Ibos in Iboland. That would proof or disproof what Abati has said. All these raining of abuses and curses show low intelligence
Land sales is a commercial thing, therefore it is about a willing buyer and a willing seller. The land bought by the igbos in Yoruba land were sold at a price agreed by both the seller and the igbos man. Pay the right amount to an igbo man and he will sell his land to you.
Bro, You just made a low iq contribution. If you are challenged to produce statistics of lands and properties owned by non-Yorubas in Yoruba land, you will immediately launch into the usual Lagos this Lagos that rant. How many non-Yorubas own land and properties in Iragbiji, Ayetoro, Alaju-Ede, Idanre Gbongan etc.? Go and establish a "federal capital "territory in Igboland and fund it with national money for 70 years, move HQ of companies, embassies, consulates etc there before you come back here and ask for statistics of land and property ownership or just go and sit down. Why are bigots always so slow?
Dr. Abati only quoted what TOS Benson said in a forum years ago. What should said was for him to show the video of where Chief TOS Benson made that comment. If you go to 86 jubilee Road Aba, an Hausa man owns that building. 46 Ogui Road enugu the former mayor of enugu who is an Hausa man. A very popular mechanic at Ogbohill who took a chieftancy title in ngwaland is a Yoruba man by name chief Adeyemi. All his children are married to igbos. I am surprised at where these set of Nigerians will end up.
Coming to the land issue, a commentator before me made an excellent point. I don'nt know the Yoruba cultural norms about land ownership, but I guess they may be polar opposite to those of the Igbos and there may lye the missunderstanding. - Number -1, What T.O.S needed the land for was almost unheard of in Igbo Land and probably just told off with whatever came to the Land owner's mouth. 2 - Unless it has recently changed, women could not own land in Igboland, not even inherit from their fathers. She can build a house but only in her father's ancestral compound. Her husband is also free to build a house for his inlaws. But for the reason T.O.S was looking for the land - I doubt that any sane Igbo man could have obliged him
How can you go to your in-laws and said you want to buy land to build a house for their daughter whom you have married. Do you want to return the girl/woman.
Chief TOS Benson did not insist on buying ununna's land. And why was he coming to build house for his wife and daughter? Unless and wife and daughter had committed some kind of sacrilegious act and for that reason, wanted to return the wife to her parents. Reuben may have quoted Chief TOS Benson out of context.
This is problem with some Nigerians. If they are not calling themselves with so called. Do you who I am Doctors or Profesdors. The Tille they are so proud of empty suits. If Nigeran is a civilzed society he should be ascension. So dishonest person.
Bro, What is "victim mentality"? If you wish to insult, try at least to be original. You make a mockery of yourself with this, jaded, infantile slogan.
Abati was only quoting what TOS Benson said. Why hold Abati accountable for what someone had said?? I know of a FACT that Igbos don't like to sell land to "outsiders" - that was the case of Asaba before it became a State capital.
He generalised at the end of the clip. Listen to it again. This is what he said. The same Igbos who are so industrious that they are all over and do well in other parts of Nigeria. If you go as a non igbo man to go and buy land ,you will be told that you don't belong". That wasn't what TOS Benson said. He was generalising.
The host of this video is totally out of the point. Your comment shows you are tribalistic. Tribalistic people always refuse to hear and follow the bitter truth that concerns or affect their clans. Now for T.O Benson, or whoever can decide to build his wife a house where he has married her as honor or way of telling her family that I'm with you. It's known every in Nigeria that Ibos are selfish, tribalistic, and arrogant. Concerning land, may be they don't have enough land or they don't want strangers. I live there as USAD employee with other colleagues for 5 years. We lived in the hotel for 4 and half years. They refused to sell land when we wanted to buy. And again, the landlord evicted us out after six months of living in his house for the reason that we could not speak ibo. To my ibo brothers, open your hand a little bit as Hausa & Yoruba have opened their hands for you to build, live, marry, and do business. For churches or mosque built in ibo land is another scenario. Its the ibos that go there to worship, get deliverance, imparted with wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Apart from money making churches, any church build in your community is a way of evangelism which no one can take glory for it. Pls don't fight me. This is bitter truth. I come in peace. Bless the ibos.
Bro, " It's known every (sic) in Nigeria that Ibos are selfish, tribalistic, and arrogant". That's rich coming from you, a violent ronu jingoist. I stopped reading the pointless, stereotypical twaddle at this point.
First of all your comparisons are watery at best. He said Igbos don't sell umunna land, he didn't say Igbos don't sell land. Simply address that. Then trying to paint him as pompous for requesting that he be addressed by his title is not against journalism ethics. Dr Fauci, Dr Gupta, Dr Phil.
Yes you painstakingly expressed yourself in rebuking Dr Abati. Yet you ended up making the same mistake of generalizing - Yorubas churches etc. There Muslims in yoruba. Again, you only cited corporate bodies who were sold land.❤
You have time to talk to fools. Divide Nigeria in peace or woto woto is the code. Nigeria must divide this year December second is the date and woto woto is the code.
The time Abatti spoke against Yorubas, you people were hailing him. Now is your turn you are kicking against his professionalism. Meanwhile, he spoke with fact and evidence. You can't tell us that igbos doesn't have traditional rules that guide the sales of land in your local communities. All of you know the truth, but because of tribal interest, you can be here defending nonsense.
Over hundred branches of churches that belonged to Yorubas are in the South East, how did they get the lands? Living faith, Deeper life, Redeem and Mountain of fire and many others, did they inherit the lands or something? Your people invested in Church business in the South East and they are making their money. My question to you is, how did they get the lands if Igbos don't sell land?
It's a Taboo in Igbo land for a married woman to come and live with his brothers again except on a temporary visit. Once an Igbo woman is married to a man, her permanent home is her husband's house. Ruben Abati doesn't understand the Igbo culture.
Ruben Abalti has told you the right message. You cannot blackmail Abalti. Tell me which of the non Ibos has a property in Ibo land. You must learn how to lives happily with other tribe. Stop your nonsense ranting. You are the one spitting nonsense from your mouth.
Mr Paul go and tell what you are saying to ignorant people and not Nigerians. It is greed and arrogance that is part of igbo culture that warrants you to say that unless an in law should build only for the father in law not his immediate wife that belongs to that family by birth. You are not supposed to argue in support or against of this case because you are an igbo man, you should have allowed others people to negate this case . You said it is church business only that Yoruba people are at,let me tell you before the Igbos know business, Yorubas had excel in it and now the only business Igbo know to do are fake, proliferated materials that they deal in. Anyway go and tell your people to open their mind and lands if they want their areas to develop or else they will remain underdeveloped unless only on the mouth of people like you. Rather than ranting on social media go and do good family meeting,ABATI was right.
Can you see analyses, sample size, hypothesis, and more before reaching conclusions. Anyway, i think you people should have also conducted tests before reaching conclusions that Yorubas are bigot. No tribe in Nigeria that is 100% upright.. We need to stop condemning ourselves and embrace peace...
Bro, That's another consequence of the collapse of education in Nigeria. Igbo culture and Yoruba culture are polar opposites. A married Igbo woman can only build a house in her husband's ancestral compound, not her parent's. In addition, Igbo system of land tenure is different from Yoruba system land tenure and the two parallel lines that can never meet. This is another reason why they cannot be contained in one nation state called Nigeria. Mr., Abati's proclivities for anti-Igboism is well known and his footprint is all over the place especially in Ibru's newspaper Guardian-NG.
Abati's aversion for the Igbo tribe is undeniable. Abati would prefer a criminal presidential candidate from other tribes than Peter Obi who is an Igbo. Abati made me detest Arise TV but thanks to Rufai , Ayo etc.
Mr blogger cant you people create a reasonable content ??? Unfortunately our people these days talk and discuss nonsense , Abatti quoted someone in his statement mr Benson said whst he said based on his own context , land issue in igbo land is the same in yoruba land , and indeed nigeria as a whole , Grand child position is a very sensitive one in the east very unlike in yoruba land . Oga if you have issues with mr Abatti call him and get it solved vibrating here makes no meaning please
Why would he apologise to igbo ... I don't like him but he was saying the truth ... how many land have igbo people sold to individuals from other eithic ...
Yes you can continue to say it till eternity, but the fact remains that ur people are not competitive in nature I'm a diasporean Igbo living in Germany and to be precise Saxony Anhalt igbos have investments in the state like houses but ur people are lazy cocoons they depend on women for survival and they don't take the risks or hassle like the igbos but they continue to malign the igbos for loving money Bc igbos will go out and do their normal or legitimate work, but will go out to look for goods to ship to Nigeria ur people will continue to talk down on the igbos bc of their resilience and enterprising spirit, it's normal in life bc it's a tree that bears fruits that attracts stones 😂😂😂
I grew up in Adelabu street Uwani Enugu, so many streets beared Yoruba names in Enugu where I grew up, my landlord in Enugu was kolawale ,Nigerians don’t want peace
I grew up in Lafiaji Street (with Calabar and Bishop Shanahan Streets at either ends, intersected by Ilorin Street, with Basden and Lagos Streets lying adjacent) at Fegge, Onitsha, named after non - Igbos. Even many of property owners in Lafiaji and Basden as of that time were Hausas and northerners. We also have Lafiaji Primary School even as of now and I also studied there. Whoever alledges must prove, with empirical and substantive evidence ..
@jubilee4live Bro, Why do ignorant people you people choose to disgrace yourselves so publicly? Even Uthman Dan Fodio has a major road in Aba named after him. So does Awolowo in Umuahia despite whatever agreements Igbos had with him, Adelabu, Bisala, and lately even Tinubu. etc. Why are you so slow?
If any yoruba person need a land to build a house in my village i promise I will give you for free contact me. I will give you for free but the condition is that you must build cos that is what we the igbos do we go inside a village/ bush buy the land built and move in with our family before you can say jack other people will start moving in that area.
Please my people which type of Doctor is this Anbati ? I am sure his is not medical Dr which means he is just a native Doctor so people don't really need to mind his foolishness and shallow mind
I have only one plot of family land. I can't sell to anyone outside my family bc it is family property. But I have other lands that I'm allowed to sell to anyone. Many non Igbos have bought land in the SE. If anyone is looking for land in Enugu, please let me know. I will find them as many plots as they want. Enough of finding things to tarnish Igbos with. Anyway, we know of Agbati and his dislike for anything not Yoruba.
Ruben Abati, you are telling lies. Produce evidence of the statement by T.O.S. Benson. You must have quoted him completely out of context. Stop bigotry against the Igbos. There are several real estate firms here. They sell their land to those who are ready to pay the appropriate price. There's no discrimination as to where you come from. It is very unfortunate for you at your level to tell this type of lie on television.
There is no affiliation of church to tribe here do not cover the truth, who paid for the land who sold the land, did God came down from heaven and acquired the land for the church to be used to worship him. A Yoruba man bought the lands to build his churches very simple truth don't hide the truth, call a spade by its name. Nigerians have to accept the fact that you all are bigots. You hate Igbos to the marrow stop pretending the more you hide it the more it shows. No ethnicity in the entire world would tolerate what Igbos are going through in Nigeria.
Pls sir you can't describe churches land with individuals. Yorubas gave opportunities to Igbo people and people from other parts of the country to develop landed properties. It's totally wrong with all these rubbish you are talking. Go back home and do your research.
Aside from not having a large sample size. Abati is also a lawyer. You don't judge a case by hearing from one side. That's the danger of a single story as postulated by Chimamanda. In this case, Abati failed as a lawyer and a PhD holder.
All well meaning Ibos should come up severally and jointly to prosecute ruben abati for this falsehood against Ibos in world viewing broadcast. So this ibo fobia and bigotry has been amplified to this point of using Arise TV via ruben. This is assassination of Ibo tribe character and has to be In court to prove it or go to prison.
Baba glasses 🕶️ you can go against Abati from to day till tomorrow but we all know that he was saying the truth. So you yourself know that Igbo people don't like outsiders. Infact they don't like themselves too. I have my own share of Igbo hatred but they keep saying people hate them. Umu people.
Reuben abati doesn't like igbo's watch his body language during presidential election when obi was leading but tinubu called him self president Reuben abati was exited.
While a student at Yaba college of Technology, just because I come to school with my cousin's car, a Yoruba lecturer pick up on me and openly called me Omo Ibo you think you can pass my course, falsely accusing me of show off. They are so jealous and intimidated by our Ibo identity. Yorubas are just haters bro
Na today I know how foolish this Dr. Abati is. We have real estate company everywhere in Anambra looking for patronage. He should apply and get lands from them.
These churches owned by Yorubas, how did they acquire lands in which their built their churches in the South East if Igbos don't sell lands to outsiders? Living faith, Deeper life, Redeem, Mountain of fire and many others are all over the South East. Did they inherit the lands or bought them?
@@nwanyaaugustine608 Stop reading ethnicity to everything , corporate bodies you mentioned including Churches are there no Igbo among their Trusties? I think where the problem lies is that the Igbo regards their lands as covenant lands that cannot be sold to strangers (Israel).
The issue between Dr Abati and the journalist was more about age difference, as is commonsensically discernable by him asking if she was at his naming ceremony...it's rather silly to say it's because he wanted to be called Dr.
Abati is not doing research on Arise, he just stated what an acquaintance told him, that they didn't sell land to outsiders and conclude to say "that is by way of an aside" If it's not generally true kindly tell the world and correct his notion
Reuben Abati thinks that he is smart. He feels that the best way to remain relevant is by tribal bigotry against the most progressive tribe in the world. The Igbos. Where is the man from?
Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events. Reuben Abati should stop relishing in small mindedness discussing peoples and tribes. That's total lack of character and not worthy of the platform he occupies. It's disgraceful. It's prejudiced and discriminatory.
A A RANO filling stations in Igbo land are they built in the air? You didn't talk as a journalist. Are an inside room journalist? You don't very before broadcasting
I have wanted to rent a house here in Lagos and i was told no that they don't rent their property to Igbos but today i lived in a Yoruba man house. My inlaw wanted to buy a plot of land here in Lagos too and was refused cos his an igbo man but today he owns his own house here in Lagos the land is sold to him by a Yoruba family so I will now say oh the Yorubas don't sell or rent properties to igbos? If it were to be a good organization say like CNN or MSNBC he will be ask to resign immediately.

Even my builder has his house in my village
Why don’t you prove to Nigerians that Igbos sell land to strangers. Show us how many people bought land from Anambra and IMO states
Ruben Abati loves to be called doctor. Let me him stop this his doctor nonsense.
Its an error of generalization. Deeper life,GTB banks, globa com ,Rccg church, winners etc. Dr Abati should put records straight.
You have time to talk to fools. Divide Nigeria in peace or woto woto is the code. Nigeria must divide this year December second is the date and woto woto is the code.
My brother why do think that we all need biafra this is.
Oando fllling station that is every where...those guys are always punk...most of them are using media since 1960 to destroy the Igbos..
But igbos don't sell land to other. You know he is not lying. 😊😊
You are lying
You are an ignorant liar
@@okwuzohe is not ignorant. He is deliberately lying. The default mode of non-Igbo people in Nigeria is to lie and attack Igbo people
But if he's lying you will die before your time....can you say amen if you are right?
Over hundred branches of churches that belonged to Yorubas are in the South East, how did they get the lands? Living faith, Deeper life, Redeem and Mountain of fire and many others, did they inherit the lands or something? Your people invested in Church business in the South East and they are making their money. My question to you is, how did they get the lands if Igbos don't sell land?
Do you need an association of dupers and 419 and yahoo yahoo boys before you can buy land in Southeast?
Don't falk about churches and banks, shows us 10 wealthy people, non igbo that owns personal houses in igbo land
Stop selling your own also and stop complaining, you sell your Land because you have no money
Bro,
That's another consequence of the collapse of education in Nigeria. Igbo culture and Yoruba culture are polar opposites.
A married Igbo woman can only build a house in her husband's ancestral compound, not her parent's. In addition, Igbo system
of land tenure is different from Yoruba system land tenure and the two parallel lines that can never meet. This is another reason
why they cannot be contained in one nation state called Nigeria. Mr., Abati's proclivities for anti-Igboism is well known and his footprint
is all over the place especially in Ibru's newspaper Guardian-NG.
Truth is bitter. Prove what he said wrong with empirical facts rather than spew insults and bile. Your answers are very shallow
Abati's aversion for the Igbo tribe is undeniable. Abati would prefer a criminal presidential candidate from other tribes than Peter Obi who is an Igbo.
Abati made me detest Arise TV but thanks to Rufai , Ayo etc.
Stop disturbing yourself sir how many of non igbos can afford to buy a land in Igbo land or should I say compete?
Mr blogger cant you people create a reasonable content ??? Unfortunately our people these days talk and discuss nonsense , Abatti quoted someone in his statement mr Benson said whst he said based on his own context , land issue in igbo land is the same in yoruba land , and indeed nigeria as a whole , Grand child position is a very sensitive one in the east very unlike in yoruba land . Oga if you have issues with mr Abatti call him and get it solved vibrating here makes no meaning please
Wow this is another sense to it wowo🎉🎉🎉
It's not true. I have sold to over 10 persons who are strangers
Please shut up we are talking of individuals you know Reuben was right
Why would he apologise to igbo ... I don't like him but he was saying the truth ... how many land have igbo people sold to individuals from other eithic ...
Yes you can continue to say it till eternity, but the fact remains that ur people are not competitive in nature
I'm a diasporean Igbo living in Germany and to be precise Saxony Anhalt igbos have investments in the state like houses but ur people are lazy cocoons they depend on women for survival and they don't take the risks or hassle like the igbos but they continue to malign the igbos for loving money
Bc igbos will go out and do their normal or legitimate work, but will go out to look for goods to ship to Nigeria ur people will continue to talk down on the igbos bc of their resilience and enterprising spirit, it's normal in life bc it's a tree that bears fruits that attracts stones 😂😂😂
You no go fit buy am.
What I will like to hear from Paul is to mention individual non Ibos that have private house or landed properties or street named after a stranger .
I grew up in Adelabu street Uwani Enugu, so many streets beared Yoruba names in Enugu where I grew up, my landlord in Enugu was kolawale ,Nigerians don’t want peace
You should rather enquire if there have any non igbo individual that had attempted to buy one before getting denied
@jubilee4live
Bro,
Why do ignorant people you people choose to disgrace yourselves so publicly?
Even Uthman Dan Fodio has a major road in Aba named after him. So does Awolowo in Umuahia despite whatever
agreements Igbos had with him, Adelabu, Bisala, and lately even Tinubu. etc. Why are you so slow?
Great submission !
His a Yoruba man
I have only one plot of family land.
Abatti has a hidden hate for the igbos. He has said a couple tihings on arise tv. and he says it unconsciously.
He is a subtle bigot
If people speak truth u will say they hate u, it's only you they usually hate all over the world, better work on yourself.
Affiliation of churches to tribe is the most disturbing thing with this communication
Abati is right 👍👍👍
Vono my brother, contact me I will give you a plot of land free in Aba.
I'm really disappointed with that comment coming from Mr Ruben Abati
He been like that and getting away with it. Is an Igbo hater. Yuroba champion, a bigot, and must apologize to the ndi Igbo period.
The issue between Dr Abati and the journalist was more about age difference, as is commonsensically discernable by him asking if she was at his naming ceremony...it's rather silly to say it's because he wanted to be called Dr.
U lack sense of reasoning.
Abati is not doing research on Arise, he just stated what an acquaintance told him, that they didn't sell land to outsiders and conclude to say "that is by way of an aside"
If it's not generally true kindly tell the world and correct his notion
Reuben Abati is a lier. He should apologize to the Igbo nation for speaking that trash!
Reuben Abati thinks that he is smart. He feels that the best way to remain relevant is by tribal bigotry against the most progressive tribe in the world. The Igbos. Where is the man from?
No yoruba like igbo people, Ruben has been a tribal bigot
He must apologize
Have known him to be a bigot long time ago
God almighty ll surely bless you and protect you sir, u always saying the truth, am even tired of Nigeria and Nigerians about igbos this igbos that
Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events. Reuben Abati should stop relishing in small mindedness discussing peoples and tribes. That's total lack of character and not worthy of the platform he occupies. It's disgraceful. It's prejudiced and discriminatory.
Ruben honestly you don't know what you are saying because what you said is lie against Igbo people
A A RANO filling stations in Igbo land are they built in the air? You didn't talk as a journalist. Are an inside room journalist? You don't very before broadcasting
Are you surprised? He is Yoruba conman.
Yeah a conman that carries out a coup to killed the leaders in others zone but spears their own leaders ,continue deceiving yourself.
@@monzoradelajalawal3553
Bro,
Yes, coup to stop Yoruba-on-Yoruba violent ethnic cleansing called "operation wetie".
Useless ingrates.
