What an amazing set list, love the order, they didn't usually close with Heart Shaped Box..
I was there and pushed my way to the second row, enough to see him from a short distance. Pale in the face he kept his stare somewhere above the wildly pogoing crowd and delivered one song after the other as per script, precisely and with the required amount of tension and anger. Yet you could sense his alienation, he wasn't really entirely there or possibly anywhere.

+mikenike40 Very doubtful he was high or drunk. Overseas he kept to the straight and narrow, fear of being busted [Rio notwithstanding]. And at this stage of his life, he barely drank alcohol, if at all except for Evian, possibly because of medication he took.

He says he was taking an experimental medicine for his stomach, which was working. He may have been taking other medications, since he had severe bronchitis and cancelled some shows. Many medicines recommend no alcohol for best results. He didn't drink. The champagne in Rome was a celebration, of his birthday and that he hadn't seen his wife and child for several weeks. He knew Courtney liked champagne.
I saw nirvana the 19 febr 1994 in switzerland neuchatêl, i hope one day i would find this concert, incredible memory
giordano bruno According to a book called 'Nirvana - The Recording Sessions' which also includes their live concert history, Neuchatel and Toulouse are the only shows from the '94 European tour not known to have been recorded with video or even audio unfortunately :/ but the book is about 10 years old so it might have surfaced in the bootleg community. Ask someone like the RUclips user 'TheNirvanaConcerts' who will probably know if you can get it.

This concert took place on my twelwe birthday. I remember that day. I was recording Nirvana's unplugged concert on TV, and during the show, there was an announcement every 4 minutes for their concert in Ljubljana on 27th february. Two days after this one. It was so close, but unfortunately I was too young, and too much in a war zone in Bosnia. But still close. I love them.

ANextGenSkater sure, no internet, lets be honest nobody had mobile phones. You had to ask your mum if you could ring your buddies. Still we had Nirvana.
Today, everything you want is just a click away, but 20 years ago you really needed to make an effort to find for example all their albums, especially when you had no money to buy them, or you couldn't find it in stores 'cause you live in war zone. I remember when I got my first In Utero album, I was so happy... I still keep an old newspaper clippings about them, and it has the inestimable value for me, although today you can find everything about it online. I don't know, maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I miss the old days, when everything was much more appreciated.

But being from Uruguay (small country in the south of South America) in the early 90´s means being left behind of wolrld exchange and economic delays by militar dictatorship over the 70´s and 80´s. It was difficult to achieve rock magazines pics, info, cause of the money exchange made it hard. Although I was 11 or 12 years old. But I could know Nirvana by a local program that passed music videos. Here did not had cable till 1997

Considering the year, it seems like Kurt is in great shape here! I've seen some other shows from around the same time where his lifestyle had really weighted down heavily on him.

whoa. thanks for uploading! I always wished I could see this performance. I was 13 when Kurt died and it sucked so much. I had only been a fan for about 2 years at the time and had started learning bass.. All of a sudden my influence was gone.. never to write another fantastic and thought provoking song. Fuck him for giving up like he did. He could have just moved to Canada or something for a while and avoided music. He didn't have to blow his face off. RIP Kurt.
Zen Jenga in his suicide note he said something like “It’s better to burn out than fade away.” No one knows why he died, and this statement he made leads me to believe he had this planned in order to let his important messages/songs be what he was remembered for, instead of them becoming less revelant over time if he had made more songs

Dave was a Beast on the drums......This band was great outlet for his style. Especially live it seems that Kurt kind of improvised a lot. (just wanting you tube videos)Kurt doing the improvising lets Dave play as loud as he wants while still staying true to the studio version.........if that makes sense.
I know what you mean. Having a solid rhythm section makes it so much easier. Kurt wrote music like the ex drummer he was, always on rhythm, which in turn helps the drummer.

Kurt wrote all the lyrics & 99.9% of the music. He WAS and IS Nirvana. If Krist or Dave left the band, the music wouldn't change much or maybe not at all. The point being, Kurt = 99.9% Nirvana intellectual property & driving force. Period.

A lyric which may go well over the heads of many if it's what I think it is and what I think happened, happened. Radio-Friendly Censor-Passing Unit-Shifter, more like it?
Blanket = Something a person covers in for warmth.
Acne = Also known as blemishes on the skin.
Cigarette = A little paper stick that people smoke in their mouth and inhale the smoke of.
Smoke = Comes from burning something and _can kill if inhaled_. (Don't kid yourself, An uncle of mine smoked cigarettes for over 50 years then he died shoveling snow. I don't know if he was smoking at the time, but still - he said he had pain before that and could hardly sleep at night.)
Burn = Can apply to possessions and to skin.
So was Kurt saying he blanketed himself with something that was burned from something that people inhale smoke from? Oh wow... Did he just confess to something in song yet nobody knew about it?! Like wow, what a revelation if it's real?!

Austin Lucas So funny how much existential bullshit people read between the lines of literal lyrics, which in this case simply refer to being a wasted junkie at home with his wasted junkie wife, they nod off while smoking cigarettes when smacked off their faces in bed, then their blankets are pockmarked (acne'd) by the inevitable burns from the lit cigarettes which don't go out when you stop dragging on them because of burning agents in the paper as every smoker knows, and every junkie knows about nodding off when smoking after using heroin. Thanks for the laughs though mate, very imaginative. Wow! What a revelation :D

@idamsi1 check out the pixies. Might be hard to get into at first going from this. But the more you go the more you understand. They're a priceless addition to your brain's music library.

it's sad because in any case (that I can see) it could have been avoided. But thats how depression works. At that moment, when youre depressed, it seems hopeless and there seems to be no way out, even thou there might be. Of course I dont know of Kurts conditon so I cant know if there actually was a way out or not, but thats probably how he felt at the moment which made him make that decision :(
