I would love to see a video about front side pull vs backside push swings. As a youth coach i see many different opinions and approaches to hitting on this topic. And to elaborate on what i mean. Ive seen a lot of teaching towards you drive the front shoulder open and your hands go a long for the ride. Most people who swing like this dont even feel there hands come into play. Then there are the other half who feel a good swing comes from the back side with your top hand punching through, more so than your lead shoulder pulling through. I hope i explained that well enough for you to get an idea of what im asking. As usual great video, and i look forward to checking out the next one
My biggest struggle is hitting with 2 strikes. I have a good eye but when I get into a 2 strike count it’s like I cannot tell a strike from a ball and my whole approach goes down the drain.
You have to decide what your goal is and make small adjustments accordingly. If you're down a run with a man on second and 2 outs in the 8th, it's an 0-2 count and you naturally have a long swing, you may want to slip farther away from the plate, more toward the outside of the box, so you don't have that trouble hitting an inside pitch. Some players move up slightly in the box, some shorten up their swing. Many options. It's whatever works best for you. Hitting is NOT one size fits all.
Shorten up your swing. Choke up on the bat. Speeds up your path to the ball and helps u make contact. Also watch the ball as soon as it leaves the pitchers hand. Depending on how it's coming in you should be able to tell whether to swing or not
@@Noah-sx5hc the first thing they told us when we did our level 1 was "call lots of strikes" so for me that meant treat every pitch like 0-2 and it's helped but i cant make good contact
On your list videos, I love it when you write the list in the description. I don't have a lot of free time so sometimes I just read the description instead of watching the video. Please continue to do this! It saves me!👊
Thanks for the video Justin! One thing my 12U son struggles with is being "on time" (late swing) to the pitch. It would be great to see a video of tips on how to be "on time" when at the plate.
Hey coach Justin I am huge baseball kid who loves the NY Mets! Baseball is my number 1 goal and I really can't get better without my fielding mechanics. My struggle I have is that everytime I throw to a partner I tend to short arm the ball a lot and I'm not generating more velocity. Please make another video about infield drills and how its done properly!⚾🙏
Since i've never player baseball and i really want to learn how to hit and pitch, could you guys make a video where you show different pitches from both the hitter and the pitcher point of view? Great channel btw, love u guys
My son is 3 just starting t-ball and I’ve been teaching him the closed position. Not anything extreme but he’s been hitting so much better than the most common stance
I really got to find out what the mental game of baseball is, but I still need to work on it a little. Example: when I’m getting squeezed when I’m pitching (how to not get frustrated). And when I’m in a slump.
Idk why but when I’m up to bat when the pitcher throws the ball outside and it’s a strike for some reason it looks like it’s way outside but really it’s not
My biggest struggle right now would have to be footwork when turning double plays when I’m at second, at shortstop I’m pretty good at the footwork though.
Yes please. Im a 2nd basemen and my problem is when its a grounder to you and you are turning 2. When its hit right at me and im already in the perfect position to field it i feel like my feet turn to glue and i dont move them This causes me to make mistakes with my footwork when flipping/tossing
I’m a natural right handed hitter but i can hit left handed to but currently I’m not hitting the ball at the right side because my elbow is leading my swing when im in the game or in bp but when im at home and I’m swinging on my tee i have a perfect swing now I’m just hitting left because i have more confidence there and i have more contact there but i don’t want to keep switching sides every time im not hitting well on that side
I'm new to playing baseball at 38 years old in the UK but finding these videos handy. I think my biggest issue is my stance at the moment, I feel like I slump over too far. Also my eye for oiling pitches is a bit off at the moment.
Coach my last game I hit 2 homeruns but I just went through my mechanics I didn’t try anything fancy I stayed short and made contact then the ball flew. I watched your videos for bat speed and now I can rake off of anyone
Hey I’m struggling with casting the bat. I’m constantly hitting the ball to the right because I’m casting. I just can’t pull the ball and I’ve dropped in the lineup for that.
Practice. And if it's a longer throw, work on jogging/running up to grab the ball and let the momentum help you. Some OF complain this makes long distance accuracy hard, that's a sign of the throw having a poor release point.
GREAT video thnx!! Im a noob baseball coaching and i was wondering at 3:12 tot 3:14 before you start your stance you tab the mount two times. Could you explaine that?
My son's biggest struggle right now is throwing accuracy. He plays third base and has a rocket arm, but consistent accuracy is becoming an issue and now I think it's gotten into his head. Not quite Chuck Knoblauch territory but it's getting worse. We have worked on the right/left footwork on the approach and the throw, but I believe his problem is his arm slot which is below 3/4. If his release point is late, his ball pulls to the left of the target. If it's early, it pushes right. He also tries to throw too hard which we are working on as well.
The thing that I’m struggling with the most on the field has got to be contact and kind of guessing where the ball is going to end up in the catching glove

I've been struggling lately with the mechanics of my throw. I've been missing the target lately and I went fr shortstop to second base last season because of it
I am on my moms account but I play center field pretty good just got on to the pg all turny team for batting 600 in that. But I need to keep my head on the ball more during my swing and I can’t keep opening my chest up
I’m confused on what my back foot should do during the swing I keep “squashing the bug” which I know is not a good thing to do and I want to learn what the proper thing to do with my back foot and how to fix it Thanks
A question that myself and my friends wish we had the answer to is how or where should a new player start if they are out of high school ? What are some good low level experience leagues to look into ?
My son just started yiuth baseball for the first time and he has issues pitching, and running hases and proper standing for baseball..what can i do to help him be better?..
If you drop your hands while loading, it can make hitting off speed pitches harder and you'll lose some power. But if your comfortable and it works, feel free to keep doing that. Just know that you may struggle later on and have to break that habit.
I struggle with outside pitches and going into modified I really want to get better at it. I also struggle at ground balls and always miss them. I am a lefty so I really only play first and pitcher but I can field them perfectly on the outfield. I also struggle with hitting with power and it doesn’t help that I’m really skinny. Finally I struggle with throwing with accuracy. Can you please help
My coaches say that I don’t get a big enough stride when hitting, but when I take a big stride I can barely keep my eyes on the ball, and I’m practically falling off balance. It really holds me back and I’m not hitting well with this HUGE stride
I don't know how to play baseball. The last time I played was 13 years old and I usually never get chosen but that day my brother chose me. That was the day I realized I have no idea how to play. I haven't looked, but you should have a video of breaking in a new glove, and the different types of gloves and why they are used for that. for youth and adult. Keep up the great videos!!
It's not such a bad thing, especially if your average is high. The biggest thing is to create faster hip/trunk rotation so the swing looks more "violent". Watch Griffey Jr and notice how fast he rotates. This however does have it's drawbacks.
