In my owner op days I was in the end dump game down here in Florida. I dumped my load in the hopper and came down the ramp and set my brakes and air was pouring out. At the time I didn't know how to cage a chamber that mistake cost me about 500 bucks. I learned real quick how to deal with that. You live you learn.

You should get the tool used to cage a chamber. It's a simple process to figure out. It will at least get you off the side of the road and moving to try to get it replaced.

I sure can relate with being in a bad mood in the morning. It is definitely best just to remain quiet and deal with it.
The place where I am working at, there are many drivers that do very poor post trips, if they even do that. It is very common to have a leaky brake chamber on the supply side. I don’t think anyone checks to see if they leak on the service side, I wonder if the shop even checks it. I think I am the only one because I find a lot of air leaks. I had a trailer that started leaking while en route and I could tell by the air gauge moving around. At each delivery point I could hear the air leak getting louder and I was hoping to finish, the route out so I can drop the trailer off at the other shop. I was only a few miles away and the brakes started smoking. It was raining out so I was hoping that would keep them cool enough, but I ended up stopping on the highway and having the Cage the break chamber just to get it a few miles down the road to the other shop.
I definitely get bored doing routes. I miss doing spot market work and bouncing around from place to place, however the consistency of doing routes works much better for my FamilyLife and having custody of my daughters. Best wishes and I am enjoying your channel ..

The reason the air hissing stopped when you pulled away, was because you pulled the air off when you unhooked. The red Emerg. line supplies air to the spring brakes, and air bags.
I had one give out while driving and the spring locked up the brake.
Pinched off the line with vise grips and caged the spring and went on.
Some people think by gaging the spring you loose brakes on that wheel.
Not true. You loose the park and Emerg. part of that wheel but the service side still applies the brake with the pedel.

@thomaspetroff9117 good info. The hissing went away before I disconnected the air lines or set the p brake

Yes, I have had a brake chamber fail while rolling. More than a few times. Of course that wheel immediately goes from rolling to dragging.😄So I carried the tool to "cage" that chamber which released it until I could get it replaced. But you have no brake on that wheel in the meantime. But I was out there before cell phones so who you gonna call, right? Just drag it off the road and get dirty. I also fixed a glad hand seal with chewing gum once and it held 200 miles until I could get proper seals.

@@truckingwithfitz3399 It reminds me of a 45' Dorsey I had to pull occasionally years ago. It was an '82. Too me, this trailer looks much older that even a '97.😄
