    I got attached to the Bridge Crew. I was shocked and saddened that they couldn't be a bigger part of the action in the final season. Owo and Detmer.. I hope they get to be in a new show. Reece should have flown the ISS Enterprise to engage the Breen. Jet Reno and Po of Dilithium Planet should have been trying to stop Emperor Gorgiou from time traveling back to Discovery. They dropped all the cool opportunities and let the not-Vulcan-at-all anymore Burnham be the focus.. I watched every episode but it felt like drudgery sometimes. Just... homework. Looking forward to shaking off the Discovery Writers and moving on to something really Trek again.

      There are a lot of racists who hate this show. But it's also just terribly written. Watch the Nagus from DS9. That's really good writing. It's not the best episode of DS9, but there's nothing in Discovery that is written that well.

    I'm so tired of this show. I loved TNG, DS9 and Voyager because they acted like officers. Discovery is too emo for me and I really don't believe that any of them are officers. The way they act is too familiar like the crying for everything and weak chain of command.

    I dont hate this show, i honestly dont. But they pushed far to hard the LGBTQ narrative. And thats the problem. I have no issue with peoples gender or identity but in star trek universe we are meant to be past that struggle , past that need to shout about it.
    But nahh we got to plug the message

    • @Grimwyrd
      @Grimwyrd 4 месяца назад +3

      The fact that LGBTQ people simply existing in the cast seems like a "shout" to some people today means I'm very glad they did it. It shows it's necessary! Just like the original series having Uhura (a black person), Sulu (a Japanese person the generation after WW2), and Chekhov (a Russian during the Cold War) was considered SHOUTING about equality and representation in the late 1960s during the original series. Existing isn't a narrative.

    • @DLZ2000
      @DLZ2000 4 месяца назад +2

      Who's shouting about it? There are only two times when it even came up at all:
      * Stamets rejecting Mirror Georgiou when she hits on him by saying he's exclusively gay.
      * Adira declaring their pronouns, the same way ANY awkward teen would declare an invisible identity, since it takes time to realize that about oneself. It's also basically the same as how someone has to correct the pronunciation of their name on the first day of school. Even the most enlightened society will always have that issue.
      Compare it to pre-2005 Trek:
      * Roddenberry specifically pitched the show to Takei as a depiction of "starship Earth," and carefully constructed it to include as much representation of the people of Earth as he could get away with.
      * The central thesis of Star Trek as a whole is that seemingly implacable foes can learn to communicate in order to solve problems, as seen in "The Corbomite Maneuver," "The Devil in the Dark," "Errand of Mercy," "Arena," "The Enemy," "Darmok," "Emissary," "The Ship," "Dawn," "Stratagem," "Terra Prime," etc.
      * Roddenberry said "We will delight in our differences" and "Diversity will be our strength" which is an endorsement of the salad bowl theory of multiculturalism over the melting pot concept of assimilation.
      * The very first broadcast episode "The Man Trap" has Uhura recognize Swahili as a major plot point.
      * Uhura says "Sorry, neither" in response to an intoxicated Sulu calling her a "fair maiden."
      * Chekov constantly referred to his identity by attributing everything to Russia.
      * Uhura's identity was directly invoked by President Lincoln.
      * Roddenberry promised gay characters in TNG, right up to the time of his death.
      * Sisko's Creole and African heritage is constantly referenced through the food of his father's restaurant, and even his middle name.
      * Institutional anti-Black racism in the United States was directly referenced in at least four episodes ("Past Tense, Parts I&II," "Far Beyond the Stars," and "Baddabing, Baddabang"), and strongly influenced not only the depiction of the Benjamin/Jake father/son dynamic, but the series finale of DS9, itself.
      The new shows proudly continue Trek's tradition of representation and commentary.

      @@landonfolken03 then you have just shown how poor you are at reading anything really.. ive been a trekkie since i was 12 i'm 42 now.. i have met most the cast at london's excel at the 5 captains event. I have a hugh collection and signed sets.
      The world of star trek already put these current day issues around gender and identity behind. The whole point of gene roddenburys vision was that we moved on past that and we focussed on science , exploration and discovery not focusing on how a girl identifies as a boy..
      There was always acceptance of others and learning different species way of living. How discrimination is still present even in modem federation. But rarely was it the focus point for every episode.
      And as i say, i don't hate disco it had some great episodes and good acting. but the plastering the message was too forced and is a reason why they were loosing numbers.. fact.
      Where Strange New Worlds have gotten stronger by keeping it within the framework of genes vision. Each episode has it's own story and keeps it around exploration

    Oh Wilson Cruz doesn't like the fact that Conservative have a free voice.
    I've been on the receiving end of his intolerance for simply defending myself and my conservative beliefs.
    Have’n said that he’s a good actor and I love Dr. Culibur great character always happy to see him in an episode.

    • @SimpleGeekReviews
      @SimpleGeekReviews 5 месяцев назад +4

      You can have your free voice. Doesn't mean people have to agree with you or that it doesn't face opposition or consequences.
      And honestly, Conservative beliefs are antithesis to what Star Trek has been. Its always been progressive, its always talked about injustice, oppression, fighting against tyranny. Its about seeing the best in people, despite our differences. Its about tolerating those different than us.
      You can be conservative. But that doesn't give you the right to tell others they can't exist, they can't live their lives the way they want to live. Your beliefs should work FOR YOU and should not be a weapon to attack others for being different. If you oppose gay marriage or gay lifestyle, cool. You don't have to be gay YOURSELF. But you don't get to tell someone to not be themselves because you believe its wrong. Its not wrong, its just not for you.

    • @vasyear
      @vasyear 5 месяцев назад

      @@SimpleGeekReviews I agree neither side has to listen to the other true.
      Conservative beliefs are NOT the antithesis of STAR TREK.
      By our very nature “Conservatives” wish to “conserve” or hold onto some fundamental traditions that are good for society like law and order, blind justice, the family and yes God.
      In the past it’s true that conservatives have used religion to oppress and control which is ABSOLUTELY abominable it goes against what Jesus taught “love thy neighbour” and we have learned that what was done by our ancestors is wrong and we despise it.
      While we can never make up for the harms we’ve done in the past we can ensure things change for the better.
      Fighting against tyranny is also apart of that, why do you think Sir Winston Churchill and the UK stood against Nazi Germany?
      Why did President Rosevelt have America stand against Nazi Germany?
      One conservative and one liberal did the same thing because Nazi Germany was pure EVIL.
      Seeing the best in each other and celebrating our differences is a core part of being a conservative.
      Sure, there are things we disagree with and don’t like but we (in the modern age) don’t discriminate against it (or those that do shouldn’t).
      And again, you are right but also a liberal doesn’t have the right to do the same and I agree with you.
      I will NEVER tell someone they can’t live how they want, as long as it’s of their own free will and they are harming no one else then fine, I may not like it but I won’t hurt or discriminate against someone, I’ve come to know a lot of trans people and they are my friends; my friend Ada she was born male and now she’s a woman and she’s like the little sister I’ve never had and I love her.
      They (including Ada) know I’m a Christian and we treat each other like human beings and help each other out when needed.
      I hate when people use the bible to attack others cause that’s not what the bible is and when some of my other friends start shit I tell them to stop cause it’s not right.
      It stands against what Christ is about, it’s people that have turned and twisted the bible into a weapon that’s wrong.
      I don’t support gay marriage or the life style but like you said its not for me and I don’t interfere with people that do and we shouldn’t be force to support it either.
      The intendent with Mr. Cruz boils down to me correcting him on the “don’t say gay bill” and what it was really about and what it did and saying some quite nasty things about Senator Cruz and I ask him to stop.
      I’ve had debates with Mr. Rapp and some got testy but at the end of the day we got on great and he’s a good actor and I love how Paul has changed and how he’s portrayed him.
      Star Trek at least under Roddenberry and Berman always was progressive and that’s fine but it NEVER said that to be conservative is wrong or evil or standing against what trek stands for.
      What Trek says is examine both sides of the argument and THEN make your own choice because you can be wrong you’re not a god.
      And as a Christian and a conservative THAT is why we love star trek.

      Well, You can be a conservative and like Star Trek. You have to be tolerant, but you have to also be for individual freedom, hard work and independence, quote from the Constitution, and know when to work for peace and when to work for defense. You should not be so idealistic as to join a cult, and not have a society run by a large computer or system. Freedom. You will love it.
      And if there is a contrary political system that is supporting one side of a civil war you might have to support the other side and do so in an equal matter so is not to create a arms race into Oblivion. In short, The Vietnam War may have been inevitable.
      I think the values of Star Trek are the values of conservatives.
