It's defense against the US. The US has more military posts than China. It also has many military bases in the China seas. If China were as near US territories as much as the US is near Chinese mainland areas, the US would cry foul. So I doubt the Danes sured up their defense because they were afraid of China. Canada should put electricity exports to Greenland in top gear even it has to over stretch Site-C-Dam's supply lines from current west-central to eastern flank. I see alot of ppl against this dam cuz of costs and geological effects but Canada coincidently and luckily has this elite card to win hearts of Greenlanders and meanwhile stretching supply lines; Canada should find one more Site-C like site in eastern hemisphere right next door to Greenland to keep this Queen's Land and EU united with Greenland. Also Canada/EU/UK can easily tackle trump's US threats over Greenland. UK/Canada/France/Germany can preempt trump by warning Denmark to respect and honor its membership in EU by honoring its pledge of allegiance and sovereignty else expel from EU if Denmark sold to trump. So Greenland can become EU's extension with possibly 1st citizenship rights for said EU/UK/Canadian countries. Why did it take this drastic of a situation, for the Danes to take Greenland's importance seriously enough to do more than send a few dog sled teams? He has for years stated he wants Europe to take on their share of responsibility in security against Russia and China. They have relied on U.S. presence in NATO, on Greenland, etc as their own security measure against Russia and China. It's only proper, that they step up more and put more skin in the game. By all means keep Greenland but at least take its strategic importance seriously and do more to safeguard it. People are missing Trump's point in this, and the Panama Canal... We would like Greenland, though and will probably come to some deal once the island becomes independent from Denmark. With 58,000 people and paying them either $100,000 or a million dollars each, as I've heard, they may agree to become part of the USA, rather quickly. Panama has violated parts of the agreement it came to with the US, which would cause that treaty to be discarded. The "American Canal" sounds like a better name for it, anyway ... or, as most Americans may suggest, "The Donald J. Trump Canal". That would be a great idea once we get it back, fully under American control.

    Dear American friends,
As a Danish citizen, I feel compelled to speak from the heart about recent remarks regarding Greenland and the strain they’ve caused in the relationship between our two nations. Denmark and the United States have shared a close and unwavering alliance since 1940, standing together through some of history’s darkest times. Denmark was one of the first nations to offer aid after the tragic events of 9/11, and our soldiers paid a heavy price in Afghanistan-losing more lives proportionally than many larger nations. My grandfather was among those who sacrificed everything, and the weight of that loss is still felt deeply by my family and so many others across Denmark.
It pains me to see the friendship between our nations put under strain or dismissed so easily. For us, this relationship isn’t just about politics-it’s about trust, mutual respect, shared values, and the sacrifices that bind us.
I understand and respect the pursuit of a better, stronger future for America. But I believe that future is best built through partnerships and alliances, not by risking or weakening relationships with those who have stood faithfully by your side. Stronger friendships and deeper collaboration can achieve so much more than division.
Here in Denmark, we value our bond with the United States and cherish the friendship between our peoples. My hope is that we can continue to build on this connection, grounded in respect, understanding, and a shared vision for the future.
    With respect and optimism,
Best regards from a concerned citizen of Denmark

Greenland wants to be free of the dictatorship of Denmark and they want to actually BUILD and be the economic power they SHOULD BE. And that is only going to happen with America. So they either join America freely as a State or they becoming one of America's closest allies via economic deals...which will eventually make them all love America even more and want to join later.
Greenland, will be a part of America, sooner or later and Denmark cant do a thing about it.

"In contrast to what indians badmouth Trudeau ... i Pakistani Canadian will say to trump; NO neither Trudeau fell for extorsion of Canadian sea routes between alaska and Greenland and Trudeau's upcoming colleagues also cannot be forced into barter trading these routes with keeping trump calm... Also UK and Germany desperately need space for expansion for agriculture etc hence the warming Greenland and melting northern frozen routes will help G5 part of EU to rightfully and deservingly serve for centuries to come "
