This game has way better combat depth than GOT. No matter how much GOT excells in Narrative, Sound, and Visuals, its shallow combat will always mean there will be people who would rather play Rise of the Ronin

Rise of the Ronin is crazy because it made me bust out a word I basically _never use_ when it comes to game analysis and critique: Underrated. This game is legitimately underrated, as in, public perception of it doesn't match up with what it actually provides. Give this six months to a year and you're going to see a wave of players and creators being like, "Damn, hold on, this was heat actually, how did we miss this?" Such is life. :P

I'm 30 hours in and this game is still just pure fun. But I'm most surprised by the interesting characters and choices you can make as the story progresses. I did not expect to warm up to certain characters so much and want to build bonds with them regardless of the rewards they offer.

I thought this was gonna play out like tenchu but nice to see it with good action and stealth mechanics.

One thing from AC games i would love to see in all open world games is the free climbing mechanics, i fell in love with being able to climb most if not all things in AC games

YEP! Ubisoft better bring it with Code Red. Between Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin they got their hands full at crafting a dope Japanese assassin game! Ronin especially feels like how Red is supposed to be since it's an RPG. And I just so happened to have created Yasuke for my character. lol The only thing Ronin is really missing is a parkour system and having hooded outfits.
They should also make an Old Western AC game. There is lot of potential there.

It does feel like it's Wo Long but in Japan and open world, with all the negatives that transition implies.
The combat mechanics, protagonist, lore, story, and vivid environment of Ghost of Tsushima are unparalleled, setting a high standard for gaming experiences. This makes other games appear outdated and out of place in comparison.

I share the same view in a nutshell that Assassin's Creed Red sales will be in troubles unless they put a massive effort in it. Rise of the Ronin is a great game but the hardware and the graphics are generation 2016-2017.
If the combat wasnt so awesome the game would be doomed. I rate it 7.5 and I ll buy it when thr price drops to £40-£45. Yes, good graphics matters in 2024 🤷.
That said, if Ubisoft delivers same graphics as AC Valhalla and similar terrible AC conbat and lore then they are doomed.
But....
even if the game is good, will the players buy ONE MORE game in Japan? Haven't had enough already? Personal opinion, Ubi will arrive too late in Japan after the Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin, and won't sell well.
Its a shame that some RUclipsrs like BlakWoodz and JorRaptor (known Ubisoft's Reps) discourage the gamers to not buy Rise of the Ronin but save money for Assassin's Creed Red😂, yes, they recommend a game they haven't even seen.

This game is an amalgamation of Way of the Samurai, Tenchu, Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, dashed with exploratory elements from other open world games. It is 10x more fun than any AC in recent memory.
This game is quite literally Nioh and AC2 mixed together(as far as gameplay and it’s open world)
I bought DD2 and ROTR, and i dunno i played ROTR more, the graphics never bother me, personally i like the gameplay, playing it on the highest difficulty is satisfying, each to their own i guess

I have 100 hrs in Rise of Ronin, and 500 hrs in Odyssey and Valhalla each.
I dont think they are similar.
I absolutely love Japanese settings but Odyssey and Valhalla were amazing.

Recommend to save the ruffians' Boss at 27 min. His name is Gonzo (lmao for real) and if you give him sake & cigars, he'll become your friend and fight for you during the game. He's dumb, but he's strong, so don't kill him.
i kindah wanted this to be a secnd ish ghost of tshushima, but really, health bar enemies when i slash them with a giant sword is so dumb, same thing with that dude that you stabbed three times including in the throat and he was still alive, that is not something that i think is fun

I just started Ghost of Tsushima, is this that different of an experience?
Very different.
From a glance, its kinda similar but Ronin's combat is harder (Im a casual Souls enjoyer) but once you get into the rhythm, its super satisfying when you defeat an enemy.
What I love about Ronin is the loot-drops, character customisation and the multiple weapon types.
Ronin gives you a lot of loot. I mean A LOT OF LOOT and you either store it, dissembling it or sell it. I stored Gold Equipment because I want to take one of the effects of the weapon to put it on my favourite weapon.
Once you unlock the Long House, you can recreate your character (even change the sex) all without using any items or paying anything. Transmog (to me anyway) is super unique. Armour is divided into sections (head, torso, arm and foot) but in transmogrification, you can take parts from other armour and put into whatever you want. For example, the Western Outfit he briefly wore and the Kimono he wore earlier, you can mix match both of the outfits. So, you can wear the western outfit without the vest and wore the pants from the Kimono outfit or Kimono+pants from Western outfit. Heck, you can just wear the vest without the T-shirt and the pants. Its super cool!
I wholeheartedly recommend Rise of the Ronin!

This is a really good game. So far it’s a 7.5 maybe an 8. Graphics are not nearly as bad as people make it out to be and it’s fun af.

Xbox has its pros (I.e Quick Resume, Gamepass, xCloud) and PlayStation has theirs (I.e Dualsense and more exclusive games… that’s literally it) stop acting like a kid calling something ass when people have their own opinions. I like that. After Ghost of Tsushima I wanted more. Ubisoft has their head so far up their own ass, so other companies are like "Fine, I'll do it myself". I love the fact that you can use guns. I miss that. I will probably check out the official Japanese Assassin's Creed when/if it comes out.
The character customization caught me by surprise since I didn't know it was in the game. I made a dark skinned red head and a blond Asian both are female with heterochromia demon eyes. My characters look a bit out of place here. Your characters look a bit plain. I like the more wild options. Rise of Ronin is clearly a better game than Dragon's Dogma 2. Love the 60 FPS. I prefer the Japanese voice acting. One of your characters looks very similar to another guy you meet later. My character looks very different from everyone. I love the brutal kills.
Now all we need is an Old Western Assassin's Creed. So far Zorro The Chronicles is the closest thing I found to that. Red Dead Redemption is heavily focused on guns and doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed.

People have different opinions hey, I platinum GOT and I am having way more fun with Rise of Ronin, combat is much better in Rise of Ronin in my opinion, I feel like this game is like the "Days Gone" of this generation, very underrated.

This is honestly my favorite samurai game. Ghost of Tsushima is the better game imo but there's definitely some things in this that I like better, mainly the customization and weapon types.

I've already seen more heads pop off and arms being cut off then I've ever seen in GOT. GOT is the beautiful woman who constantly cheats on you but you can't see the bad in her because you're blinded by her beauty.
It seems like the counterspark doesn't work properly most of the time, and it definitely needs some fixing. The game itself is enjoyable, but the counterspark is the only aspect that requires attention.
Been playing for 40 plus hrs. The counterspark works fine.

Everyone was and still is off the mark comparing this to AC or Ghost of Tsushima. It is 100% a spiritual successor to Way of the Samurai/Tenchu and infused with strands of Nioh DNA.
