  • What are the best solar panels to put on your roof in 2024? Find out how top Australian solar installers voted.
Installers work with different brands every day - and they must support those panels for the duration of their warranties. There's a lot riding on their choice of solar panels.
In the 2024 SolarQuotes Installers Choice Awards, I asked installers in the SQ network to vote for panels they'd be happy to have on their own rooftops in twocategories - Best value panels and the best panels money can buy.
I also asked which brand they believed has the best warranty support.
    00:00 - Introduction
00:31 - Best-value, "every dollar counts" category winners
    02:11 - Top-end, "Money's no object" category winners
04:42 - "Best panel support" category winners
Note: While choosing good brands is important, equally as important is installation quality. Good panels installed badly will still make for a poorly-performing system.

Solar is about to pass 20% of electricity generated in Australia. Amazing when many people said it would never pass 1-2%.

      Who were these "many people"?
I wouldn't place much value in what "many people" say.... I learned from experience... too many people seem clueless.

We had 54 good quality panels and inverter etc installed just over 12 months ago in Adelaide and recently had a "dark start" battery and hybrid inverter installed with one of your recommended SA installers and to be frank it's been a nightmare, and yes I sent you an email outlining my concerns and currently woking through a number of persistant issues. I now realise that when you do your due diligence and part of this was using information from Finn Peacock's site, you need to consult widely to be informed, don't just listen to the glossy brochure spiel or recommended installers.

Would you recommend ? 4.6kw TW panels with Solax 4.2kw inverter to replace my current low efficiency system (faulty inverter with two panels failed), in every dollar count situation, i have been told 4.2/4.6kw inverter are very limited so SolarX is better choice now.

Hi Finn, I opted for REC Alpha panels (370W) based on their reputation for quality. However I have these bl00dy busbar marks on my panels which has taken the luster off the REC reputation for quality in terms of my decision to pay extra for REC. You published my story on SolarQuotes regarding the issue and whilst I have a response from REC (extremely technical I might add) attempting to allay my concerns, I can't help but feel a sense of REC wiggling out of their responsibility to replace the 29 x panels in question. I bl00dy paid for the REC quality to mitigate this occurrence, they took my cash and are nowhere to be seen when I need them. Why didn't REC state that the busbar issue may occur on their panel brochure? More sub-par antics from a large Corporate. The 11 x Trina Vertex S+ 415W panels I added to my system (now 15kW) are a better buy. Given your standing in the Solar industry would have a contact at REC that I can plead my case with? Kind Regards, Tom

Sunpower and Maxeon are different panels. Were the Sunpower P6 voted on or Maxeon?

Sunpower was voted on as a brand of panel (we don't ask for models to keep it simple).

Didn’t you post an article saying Trinas warranty was average when you needed to make a claim??

    • @SolarQuotes
      @SolarQuotes  4 месяца назад +1

We posted a couple of examples of Trina dropping the ball on warranty. But this shows that those seem to be isolated incidents, and the installers' general opinion is that Trina usually do the right thing. We aim to be transparent.
